Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by to study A History of Humans. As always, I just wanted to answer some of the most common questions here real quick: 1. "Humans is actually a valid deck in Modern!" Ok that's true, but my hypothetical version relied on huge "burst damage" and not "general all around good cards" that the current Humans deck is known for. This does bring up another question though - would these videos be better if I incorporated more actual deck knowledge in here, rather than jokes? Let me know what you think! 2. "You look like General Kudro!" Yes, and I suspect I'm going to be hearing that for at least the next 18 months or so, until he rotates. 3. "hehehe, who is their daddy/mommy!" Excellent, you fell for my trap and made a comment. The algorithm goblins will be most pleased! 4. "haha, JESSICA!" I hear her essential oils home business is really taking off, but still, I hope she has regrets about not dating the man who would end up looking like General Kudro.
Humans are everywhere because we are human and it gives something for us to connect with by playing the game. Also, Magic, the Gathering plays off of our view of mythical worlds. Seeing that it's our view, we humans by default would be everywhere.
Loved the video, but when the G-word was dropped at 4:16 it just took me out and felt off. I really love the magic arcanum content and can tell that you guys care about presenting the right image, so just thought I'd point that out.
@@lobstershoes9273 This video was created before WotC decided that card did not meet Magic community standards. Obviously if I were to make this episode today, I'd use a different card, but at the time even I was unaware that this card was actively harmful. I apologize to anyone watching this video now and hope that they will understand my intent was not to be hurtful.
The Eldrazi, but even then I'm sure he had something to do with the increase in their activity even if he wasn't aware of what his actions would unleash.
I think humans must somehow be more likely to develop Planeswalker sparks, because if you look at them like, well over half of the Planeswalker are humans, so that probably explains why the multiverse has so many
Magic Arcanum I. Think so to hey so what’s your opion on twins both havihn planswalker sparks if one does cause I think that has been precedent has been set with bolas and Ugin, and, Rowan and the other one
The idea that humans are less interested in what they share in common and more interested with who they can defeat is a theme that I feel sadly mirrors reality a little too closely. Great video!
My theory of how humans spread across the multiverse is a simple one: In a long-forgotten past, all humans were Planeswalkers. They learned to walk, then run, then planeswalk, then planesrun. But as their visage of the multiverse grew, they each became attached to certain planes, which they settled upon. Their ancient ways of traversing the planes were all but forgotten. They had no more need for it. But in more recent times, sparks were ignited. The ancient ways were ingrained in their very genome, and as such, humans in need of this forgotten art would rekindle its power. As for the other creatures of the multiverse, their learning of planeswalking could be interpreted in many ways. Perhaps humans intermingled with their type in ancient times. Perhaps they are humans, just misshapen by time. Perhaps all life always had what it took to have a spark, only humans were the most perceptive to it. Humans are, as it would seem, still the most perceptive to planeswalking powers, and for good reason.
Best human is Thalia: lore wise she had to go through trial that tests her faith and what she believes in. She fought against zombies, planeswalkers, and even eldritch angles. Game play wise she has made impact in every format she legal in. That is why Thalia is not just best girl but best human
I know this is kinda cheating, but Geist of Saint Traft always appealed to me greatly. Innistrad as a plane was part of my first experience playing Mtg and I always found myself drawn to how the humans on the plane managed to survive. Faith as a concept is a very literal and tangible force on Innistrad and seeing how the people there interact is incredibly interesting to me. P.S. You haven't even begun to see the power of the Gallows, you can kill a spirit to unleash another spirit! Ghost-ception!
So essentially what we learn is it took till Innistrad the grim dark plane for Humans to learn about strength in numbers, something WH40k humans learned almost from the get go.
I wake up, drenched in a cold sweat. It happens the same every night since this video first dropped. I drag myself to the bathroom sink, splash myself with cold water and stare into the mirror. It still haunts me, I can see the question behind my baggy eyes. "Who their daddy is?"
I got to talk to someone from R&D at a JSS back when Onslaught, a tribal themed set, was in standard before Mirrodin. He said they shied away from Human cards because text like "sacrifice a Human" gave the game a look they had been trying to distance themselves from for years. I think they add great flavor, I'm glad they changed course on it. Great video!

This is an incredibly cool series and I really hope to see more of it from this channel. Especially with the combination of in-game lore and out-of-game information
My favourite human is Odric. Lunarch Marshall was my first build around, before I even knew what formats were. I now have an EDH deck helmed by him (along with an Alela deck featuring him). Not my strongest deck, especially since it's mono white, but it has a special place in my heart.
Eldraine had a humans v non-humans theme too. Also worth mentioning the card Village Cannibals. Humans had a kind of aristocrat style sub theme in Innistrad too.
I remember playing in Innistrad block a G/W Human deck with Champion of the Parish and Mayor of Avabruck. The Mayor was so good in that deck as a 2 mana lord that if you let sit got 100 times worse. With Kessig Cagebreakers as my top end, it was a beautiful mono human deck that could swarm with wolves...
Like a year ago I decided to change my Kaalia of the Vast deck from the usual to a "tell a story" deck instead. The deck has exactly 7 dragons, 7 demons, 7 angels ande 7 humans. I like to think the humans represent people being attacked and try to defend themselves the best way they can do, in the meantime, their priestess (Kaalia) complete the ritual to summon the beasts. Humans I play on that deck are for defence (Michiko Konda, Grand Abolisher, etc), because I like the idea of humans always forming a resistance group.
I find myself particularly fond of humans who delve in the ways of artifice, such as the Nalaars, or the not-a-human-according-to-card-type Saheeli Rai.
It's really way too hard to pick a single favourite human, but I don't think my love for Judith, Scourge Diva is gonna go away just because she rotates out. Such a fun and stylish card. As for my favourite *janky* human, it's gotta be Crafty Cutpurse.
