    Thank you so much! The industry no longer makes corded blinds. The cordless blinds have different hardware. This means I'll have to replace 14 blinds over the year. I was contemplating restringing the cord. After watching your video I realize it is a bridge to far for me. I do plan on buying the tilt wand hardware so thank you very much.

    Thank you for this helpful video. I watched several videos on how to repair the blinds and I find yours to be the easiest to follow. Perhaps because we have the same model, but it also helps that you save big time by telling us what mistakes we can avoid. Thank you!

    Smart idea using the toothpick! In the future you can use a trick electricians use when pulling cable through walls - tie the new string to the old string thats already in the blinds. Pull the old string out and the new string will automatically be in place!

    THANK YOU! Your video helped me figure out how to get the blinds off the window, and helped me figure out what was wrong. One of the strands that raises the blinds had popped out of its casing and gotten sucked up into the mechanism and somehow got tied up around the center bar in a way that looked like it was supposed to do that when I opened it up. After watching your video and taking down another set of blinds in my house to see how it looked when it was done correctly, I was able to fix the problem and the blinds are working again.

    Instead of using a toothpick to thread the new cord, cut the ends of the old cord and new cord and burn them together with a lighter and then pull the old cord out and it will feed the new cord all the way through.

    An even easier way to pull the new string through is to cut the bottom as you did, melt the end with a wand lighter and quickly attach the new string and roll between your thumb and finger. It will fuse together and allow for you to just pull the bad string through with the new one attached. Only works if the old string is just frayed or too short but not if it's broken. No threading involved.

    Be sure to fix your cord BEFORE they break. Then, as @talljr1 wrote 2 posts down, you can fix it w/o any tedious threading. It is a matter of minutes. Attach the new string to the end of the old one by fusing them together. Use the flame from a lighter, match, candle or other source, to melt the ends and roll them together between your fingertips. Then simply pull the string through on the other end with the new string attached. Done!

    If you would have taped new cord to old cord, when you pull old cord out new cord follows in it’s place....so you don’t have to lace twice.

  • @CageyLeigh

    Are you saying that to fix a broken pull string, you have to restring the cord through all of the slats as well?

    • @ChickFixUSA
      @ChickFixUSA  3 роки тому +1

      Well, that's the way I did it, but if you have enough to work with, you might be able to just tie it off wherever it broke.

    • @CageyLeigh
      @CageyLeigh 3 роки тому +1

      @@ChickFixUSA it didn’t break. It got caught on the open slot and got shredded before I realized it. About 3-4 feet “unraveled”. Bought 100 feet of cord, and will try to replace it this weekend. Thanks for your response.

    HI there. Does anybody know a place to by the slats? I have replaced the Wand mechanism and need some extra slats. I found a company in Colorado, but the freight will be too much. Can't find any place in Florida. THANKS

    • @dank1043
      @dank1043 3 роки тому +2

      Usually there are extra slats at the bottom of each blind that you can use to replace broken slats above it. If you don't have any on yours, perhaps contact fixmyblinds.com/ and see if they have anything available.

    You = awesome

  • @dank1043
    @dank1043 3 роки тому +1

    Hmmm, since you already had it threaded with the nylon string or even the original blind cord, why not just tie your new string to the old string at the bottom of the blind and pull it up through the blind slats and lock mechanism and then cut off the old string and tie the ends of the new string??? You could even heat the old and new strings with a lighter and "Weld" them together with your fingers on the hot melty string to form a nice smooth joint where the two strings come together if a knot would be too fat to traverse the whole string path... Just say'n, might save you a bunch of time and frustration... Nice video however. Thanks a million for sharing.
