I wonder, in all seriousness, whether coming out in pistol set and running the ball 2/3 of the time might be some ill-advised strategy thinking that they'll be assuming so much that the ball is going to be run that, in plays where a successful pass is needed, the defense won't be set up to deal with it. That's kinda like coming out and shooting yourself in the foot over and over and over... until its time to shoot the enemy... and they won't be ready, because they'll be expecting you to shoot yourself in the foot again. I mean, duh? I don't mean to be constructing straw men out here, but the other option is that plays are being called with no awareness of things like running 2/3 of the time...
I'm sure they know their running preference stats. I think it's analytics and "safe play calling" that leads to those numbers. I'm sure somewhere in their stats they have that running the ball out of pistol vs certain defense looks will give you a better chance of a positive play. However, I hope that Billy Learns that sometimes scared money don't make money.

Im not sure why people are surprised by any of this. It is exactly what he has been.
Play action passing was great for the Florida Gators. Graham threw the ball on average almost 10 yards downfield per attempt out of PA, completed 69% of his passes out of PA for 11 TDs and 0 INTs. Would've been 78% completion out of PA without drops.
There's plenty of justified critiques of the offense and I've been very open about not liking the checkdown Charlie stuff but the facts say you're wrong here.
