How 'Warrior' Choreographed Stunts Using the Actual Series Actors

- Whether he is choreographing hand-to-hand combat between two characters or a riot scene featuring a dozen, “Warrior’s” stunt coordinator and second unit director Brett Chan always wants to put emotion first.
“I create the moves and then we just change it for how they feel,” the Emmy nominee says in the latest episode of Variety Artisans presented by HBO. Whether it’s a punch or a PUNCH is determined by whether the character “wants to kill [his opponent] or just wants to knock him out,” he continues.
“Warrior” features a diverse group of characters who have various martial arts backgrounds that also inform their characters’ fight styles. Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), for example, is a martial arts prodigy while Ah Toy (Olivia Cheng) has become better known for weapon work. The show, which is now a HBO Max original, follows such characters through the Tong Wars in late 1870s San Francisco.

CRIMINALLY underrated series
It's not underrated, it's just that not enough people know about it - there's a difference. But now that the show is on Netflix, more and more people are discovering it for the first time, and it continues to get glowing reviews.
It should be studied how it is deep hidden for no logical reason
This show is incredible and very underrated
Thank you for spotlighting this incredible show! More hollywood films and shows need to follow by this one's example. Looking at you too, Marvel. I can't wait till we're completely past obnoxious shaky cam and quick cut editing which not only ruins the choreography and the flow, but literally makes fights virtually impossible to comprehend. It's not only the choreography that's important, it's also how that choreography is captured! That's why we need actual stuntmen and women and real martial artists behind the camera who actually know how to sell it.
we need a season 4 and 5.. let's make some noise!
Those fights are incredible and Warrior in an awesome show and everyone should watch it , even if you don't like martial arts or action genre because only to watch Andrew Koji is completely worth it and absolute plesure ( as an actor and as a man ) 💜💜💜
Warrior is one of my favorite shows! I hope it return soon!
Great show. Never a dull episode and the fight scenes are next level. I really love this show and I wish other people would recognize this hidden gem. Warrior is a MUST see. Great top notch acting and wonderfully talented cast. 💋Andrew Koji is amazing.
Brilliant fight scenes. Unreal that one mind could be the primary conductor of a symphony on this scale. Deserves awards awards awards.
This is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen
Glad I was invited to see the pilot

🔥🔥🔥
Very detail when she was laid on the stair and she saw the axe and she sly down so the axe hit the stair before hit her shoulder
I have to cover my eyes throughout most of her fight scene. It's too brutal for me lol. And after 5 years, I still can't watch the "Chinese Boxing" episode from season 1.
❤❤❤❤❤
