- The final pre-album single, The Craving has officially been released, and it really seems as though the pilots have no intention of not making the clique collectively bawl their eyes out.
With an incredibly metaphorical MV contrasting the straightforward lyrics, The Craving is our allocated love song for this era, giving us some further insight into Tyler's personal struggles.

The heart in a jar could also be a reference to A Car, A Torch, A Death
my first thought when I saw the end of the MV was that this is exactly what overthinking feels like. Wasting so much time putting so much mental energy into some ideas, that end up being completely irrelevant/unnecessary
To be honest, The single version of the craving and backslide seem to have a very similar message that Tyler reflects on lyrically and its that idea of having creativity that is worthy enough so it honestly would not surprise me

I think with the video, it’s about Scaled and Icy album and how Tyler and Josh each made a component that brings something together, just like they had to get together separately during Covid and bring an album together. It was a miss with some fans and critics. That’s why Tyler took it harder than Josh because it was his lyrics, his creation, his overall production. And this song is very tender.

During the premiere I listened to it with a few friends and instantly my first thought at the end was "Holy shit what a statement on the music industry", I fully feel like the single version was meant to be for the music industry and Jenna's version was meant well... for Jenna. "Now I see intentions don't mean much" is now my life motto while we're at it

I love this song. Simple, but beautiful. And different interpretations are not that hard to understand. Amazing analysis of course. On the private note, this month I'm about to graduate my university. So I think you understand me dema - sleepless nights, lot of work to do. And I only listened to the album twice. Haven't watched any music video yet. One thing I'm currently afraid of is that I will have a lot of twenty one pilots stuff to catch up on. But I'm sure that with your next analysis videos it will be possible for me 😁

In my opinion, the first "intentions don't mean much" refers to Tyler thinking about how much he loves Jenna not amounting to anything meaningful. The last "intentions don't mean much" refers to Tyler making a gesture of love, thinking that it's inadequate, and realizing that the intention he had wouldn't cover up his perceived failure
I have some thoughts about song and MV. Anxiety about giving it best shot and miss. Maybe instead of decorating (may jam the gun), take the shot by yourself. Box helping to deliver the shot ? Idk maybe I overthought it ahaha. Definitely nice analysis. Also I love contrast of song in album with other songs. He opened up here and showed how he feels tho overcompensate is very confident. Its gonna be some attack on titan Eren lore. Love it!

100% agree. The single version (I have some thoughts on Jenna's version but I'll get into them when I unbox Clancy) is my favourite out of any of the love songs they've done.

Love the new breakdown as always. I always interpreted the bullet as being a metaphor for SAI specifically though, since (as far as I'm aware) it was the first album to be a "miss" in the eyes of the fanbase and the colors are somewhat reminiscent of the era. It'd also make sense given we have the line "kinda wishin I never did Saturday" from Backslide.
I was hesitant to define what the bullet is a metaphor for since the pilots have technically had several 'misses' just in different scenarios; Sai is the most obvious both with the fans and critically, trench was a miss with the critics as it was nominated for seven Grammys and didn't even win one, blurryface was a hit with the critics but many of the fans at the time cited that it was 'too mainstream' and 'not liked by true fans'.
But I 100% agree that SAI is the most likely choice given just how much of a miss it was
I'll just get to it and share my thoughts here, you seem a good source for this so I want to share with you Dema.
Watch every Clancy video from live stream, and I swear between the sky, the trees, or wheat in frozen pond, and snow, we see white, brown and blue. Wondered about Tyler's brown pants, so thinking maybe I'm seeing stuff, check live stream and Josh's snacks 😀 white popcorn, brown cookies which came from blue and white tube, oreos and goldfish bag was blue, white, orange and yellow. Then, some videos show new season with green grass, instead of snow, Josh's drink was green mountain dew with green straw.
The card they gave Mark was a cat, but blue, white and brown and Mark said something about them talking about it earlier. Tyler's pen is blue on white paper yet I don't believe he wrote anything. So, other than the flash of purple light on Josh after Navigating in live stream, in at risk of feeling dumb Josh's jacket has purple and orange.
During Snapback, Tyler grabs both Ukes and there's alot of double talk..lol then he mentions garage being perfect place to make his point. Along with obvious lyric references to 25, there's 2 windows, 2 propane tanks, 2 pair of shoes each 2, I believe 2 sets of headlights. Also, find the blue, interesting.
All this and your sharing leads me to believe we will get a double album on 6/25 containing 25 total songs, one cover blue, white, brown and possibly green, the other orange and purple and maybe yellow or red to match Josh's hair? Just my current thoughts and wanted to share..won't get into the Cyan rabbit hole I took here...lol
Theory: the shotgun shell was Saturday and Tyler's saying it missed (see backslide) lol

The HDS reference and how it ties into creativity (this is so off topic but I have shy away on in the background and police lights are flashing through my window in time with the song) "Death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit" I guess you could make the argument that it reflects an existential sense of vulnerability. One day will all die. That is a promise and with such a daunting promise it can influence our decisions in majour ways, but back to the bullet, it's connected to death so to see Tyler walk away was a bitter sweet moment because he didn't dwell on that failure. If Clancy is an album of overcoming then I think it's safe to say that fear has been overthrown. When "I am Clancy" dropped I made a theory as to why things had to step in this...
Direction. Idk how much you know about character archetypes but I've learned that the role of the hero is someone who ventures into the unknown, the places where they're most vulnerable and restore peace by uncovering what the endless potential of the unknown possesses ( the Hobbit is a great example) in this case Clancy took away Nico's power by acceptance. When you choose to face things that haunt you they're no longer giant eldritch creatures that lurke in dimensions you can't see. When you face them, you humanize them, you have a shot at overcoming them at that point. That's why blurryface exists and red and the paint returned. Clancy made the choice to put them on. He owned them, so it was sweet to see Tyler walking away because in our small amount of time going back to the drawing board can be the hardest and bravest thing we do. It's not easy, but he had the guts to walk away. Fear of failure was overcome
Yk if you wanted to you could take this a step further by linking love in general to this because their love songs are quite violent. Tear in my heart calls Jenna a "butcher with a smile" in my blood Tyler threatens to blow himself to bits and in smithereens he willfully gets battered so severely that his physical make up turns to powder. These are quite noble yet destructive/unhealthy forms of love. I can't help but ask the question "what are you trying to prove Tyler?" As if becoming a martyr for others is a good thing so to see him walk away, to ironically take a stand and deem himself as enough and not a product of failure was a good thing. I'm happy for him. I hope we can all learn the lesson that just because you took a loss doesn't make you a loser.

The craving is so goood. My personal favorite is Jenna’s version tho. And I thought there were not enough lore songs but I think Midwest Indigo Routines in the Night and Vignette are all inside Clancy’s mind, the snow represents his mind and struggles just like in oh Ms believer. I also found a lot of connections between Oh Ms Believer and Midwest Indigo, right now I only have one video about Midwest indigo but I have just began going deeper into this theory and it might be worth a look

However, you said on the beginning that Oh Ms believer was the "love song" of self titled.... I'd rather say it's air catcher (Oh Ms believer always sounded like a talk to a friend or a close person, while air catcher is definitely about a person he's romantically attracted to imo). That being said, I still think air catcher is the best love song Tyler has ever written. Metaphors and imagery are just so good there. But the craving is a close second.

Neat interpretation and really well thought out ideas which I concur with completely. The only thing I differ with you on is that I think Air Catcher is the love song on Self titled and that Oh, Ms Believer is more about the process of losing love because the one the love is projected at doesn’t want to hear about that love anymore. Their love gets slower and older the further they travel.
