I see some comments about how some of his songs aren’t Egyptian in sound or references to that area, and I get that. What I don’t get is that he employs different regions of Africa in his sounds as well as near East and has even done at least one song involving Tibetan tradition as has got some flak for it. As far as I can tell he enjoys a lot of traditional as well as mythological inspirations and employs them in his music. He takes inspiration from what he truly loves and is interested in and shares it unabashedly. If you don’t like it or want to down talk it then don’t comment. Like your mom told you “if you can’t say something nice, shut the hell up” or something like that. Karl you rule🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 looking forward to more in this vein as well as the usual fare
Tibetan Monks were featured on the Black Seeds of Vengeance album, going way back. Just as many Nile songs revolve around H.P Lovecraft topics as they do ancient Egypt, as well as Mesopotamia (such as Defiling the Gates of Ishtar). Those criticisms don't make sense at all, and most likely come from people who aren't even that knowledgeable about the band and its history.
Karl, my man! How incredibly cool and powerful you really are! Grrrrreetings from the R-country which is forbidden. and DAMN, WE ARE WAITING FOR SAURIAN APOCALYPSE TO COME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most people have a problem with it because of the African influence, it's supposed to be Suarian so he's exploring with many different culture and sounds from those ancient times. It's not supposed to be strictly Upper Egyptian or middle eastern
Great.. btw this song contains some lyrics and melodies from Khaled's song "Wahran" which is not mentioned.. and the vocal melodies or ornaments is from the great Maghreb (Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco ) not Egypt just to be clear
@@justinwolz4932 The lyrics and melodies of the vocals. @@medzougarimusic That's a cool song too. Thanks for sharing it. I will have to listen more in depth because I don't speak the language and it is hard to compare since the Sanders song is so dense. :)
There's a different between zar and African voodoo I don't know why the mix between voodoo and Arabic language... but anyways African exorcism is different than zar
@@ALAMRICY What I meant is that since he mentioned "north african exorcism", that could be Zar, or could be something else. Was it Zar? I don't know. Do you have a better guess?
Yes... it's more like voodoo "the intro, the masks, the fire, some music elements" it's all related to voodoo not zar...even the Arabic in the track it's not Egyptian Arabic because zar is mainly in Egypt. maybe just some drums a little bit related to zar. Beside he also mention he has 2 friends contributing in voodoo music.
Yooooooo why does this stuff get signed to record labels? It just sounds like a bunch of noise some toddler made in garageband or pro tools. This is the Danny Elfman or whatever, of Napalm. Swear theres at least one of these guys on every label.
Because it’s Karl Sanders, guitarist of Nile, and he’s allowed to explore acoustic music to have a label behind Really, look up the guy and band and you’ll see why they’re signed
@@Maduro7 I obviously dont listen to Nile or I woulda known who this dude is in the first place and wouldnt have said anything and just been like oh, its his weird solo project. Like Thomas Giles from BTBAM.

I mean, are they deaf ?
This is epicness
Absolutely well said.
Here's a question, why should he ONLY be allowed to utilize Egyptian sounds or instruments?
George Foreman said about jazz, "the better it is the less it's appreciated."
Anyone who doesn't get how genius Karl is...
This is truly mind blowing ritualistic music, I have been waiting a new Saurian album for years! 🖤
Hell yeah! Another part of Saurian Apocalypse !! Thanx Karl, great as always
For me this is folk music. EXCELLENT folk music, a thing of beauty. Karl is a GENIUS.
I listened to the whole album on shrooms - just incredible.

Also, read the description. It mentions North African influence.

Roots era Sepultura
Out of curiosity, what African art tradition did they use for the imagery in this video?
North African, the singing is in Arabic, an Algerian song to be specific.
