I currently have a Zoom G5n and I love the update they’ve added with the G11 that allows you to import custom IRs. I’ve watched a number of other videos on this rig and the ability to purchase IRs from Britt or Rabbea is super appealing. Previously that was only available to Kemper users but now other companies are allowing that. The benefit of the Zoom is that it’s even less than a Helix LT or comparable FX pedal and you can still use custom IRs. Consider me saving up!

I bought this pedal recently and I am really impressed by the sounds and possibilities you have. The touchscreen makes the operation quite easy and convenient. I also love the 80s style design of the unit. Very good review by the way!

Allan Allan, you are very right. I bought a Zoom G9.2tt Guitar Effects Console earlier this year, and it could be considered a precursor to the current G11 unit. I have barely begun reprogramming its presets, but I have to agree that the ones I've run across so far are wack and are begging for reconfiguration. I can't say that the G11 really sounds better than the G9, but it's GOT to be easier to program with that touch screen. It does have some effects that aren't in the older unit, and the G11 loads IRs, which didn't exist when the G9 was released. I dedicated tone chaser will be happy with either unit -- but the old one really needs better cabinet simulation in my opinion. One last thing: The G9 has tubes (That's what the "tt" stands for -- twin tube!), but I doubt that the G11 needs them. They both kick sonic ass!

Best overview I've seen of the G11, PLEASE do a more in depth video, it's so hard to find solid reviews of this unit. Can't even find a complete list of effects online! Plus it would be great to hear your thoughts on getting great sounds out of it rather than just flipping through presets

I think its looks are deceiving. An interesting and capable unit and you don't have to hook it up to a laptop to edit the tones. Great operating system! I think if a person spent some time dialing in some presets they would find that it could rival just about anything out there. I think it may be a sleeper. I want to learn a bit more about it before I buy but I am interested. I'll be waiting for that next video.

I saw a demo (actually created by Zoom - it's on the product page) where a guy was adding more layers using its looper. However, I don't know if you can create one loop then switch to another you've created and hop back and forth.

What zoom should have done was to put five more push button knobs under the screen and a way to navigate the effect chain and then only have the stompboxes for most important effects. That way the IR and Wah blocks could be thrown out of the stompbox screens leaving more space for important effects and way to quickly edit them. At least they threw the amp and cabinet blocks out of the stompbox screens, I give them kudos for that.

I would get this asap if i was more sure about the actual sounds and if it wasnt so... plastic. great review. does this have the drums and looper independent of the pedal blocks and patches?
in a zoom g5n, the looper snd drums eat up 2 pedal blocks in a patch and if you change the patch you are gone.thats a big big problem in g5n.
Is the G11 different? the g3x was superb

The Stoneboi? Setting made me double take. Interested in their bitcrusher on that first synth and all the fanciness akin to the MS70-CDR as far as modulation comparison. I'm hoping it could replace my Zoom player 3030, but I have my doubts.

Those old zoom pedals like the 3030 are killer...I love all that old Zoom stuff!! I have a bunch of their 90s racks too and I think they still hold up to a lot of much newer stuff!!
      Thank you!!

@@TSFAHTPS first thing I'd look for is if there is a pitch shift from zero - infinity without a clean blend. Then if the Ring Mod. Was worthwhile. They invented step so not so much relevance there. Hoping the black hole reverb is in there for a finale. Anything after that is bonus.
What is the stoneboi though? Is there a lot pass filter into a compressor then a reverse reverb or something. Not as apparent as that "doubling" to my ears. So what's its significance. Chain? And the pedal on that first synth is probably programmable to parameters, ahhhhhh mama

PLEASE ADVICE: ZOOM G3X or Zoom G9.2tt, for me, a newbie?
It was the reason why I ended up here tonight, fanning out from the G3X search.
I can choose between both, for only $100 and $110, second hand.
    But is G9.2tt too complicated?
I always like to look ahead. And it has the special Krampus effect, too.
I can be smart enough.. Advice please?

First off, I'm a huge fan of Zoom, and have been for years. That being said, I'm not exactly sure who this is for... That's certainly not a comment on the quality of the unit; it sounds great. I just think that Zoom may have priced themselves out of their best market. Very cool design, though. I really like that you have your 'amp face', and your 'pedals' separate.

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  3 роки тому +1

the Price is possibly a little high...but I think it may potentially be quite a seriously good unit...there is newer firmware too...and I will put some Celestion IRs in it to see if that makes a bit of a difference. The interface is the best of any amp modeller I have used...the seperate amp knobs thing is amazing...I kinda wish they would make a standalone amp/cab sim only version of this!

    My take:
    1. Most processors sound similar.
    2. Even after editing you'll likely find a factory preset that sounds like it.
    3. Even with all the capabilities you'll likely use a mere handful of sounds.
    4. I have units from 20 years ago that sound like this...but the interface on this unit has more lights on it.
    5. My older units are all but worthless. Keep that in mind.
    6. Zoom makes good products. I am happy with my $80 (bought new) multi-effects pedal.
    7. The price on the G11 is, frankly, too high. In another year or two it will be lower.
    8. I like the touch screen and ease of editing.

Please redo this video with all the cab sims turned on. As a Zoom multi FX user, one of the most irksome things is having to listen to demonstrations where the snooty Boss & Line 6 naysayers get to dog these awesome units …simply because the company decided to ship the darned things with the cabinets turned off, by default. Thx.
    P.S.
If you can find the corporate address of the developer who committed this Neolithic faux pas, please contact me …so that we may contemplate paying him a visit, to gently smite him with soft objects …so that he may learn the error of his ways, and do penance. 😌

Been waiting for Zoom to release a new multifx/modeler to replace my B3n as it is lacking in routing and i/o options. Unfortunately I'm ultimately disappointed by the G11.... Zoom don't appear to have upped their game enough to compete with the competition. No bass amps or cabs and no parallel chains, and the lack of XLR output on a board of that size is unacceptable in the current marketplace. I really wanted to support Zoom but I've just bought a Helix as this just couldn't offer me the features I need.

    • @DasherWilcox
      @DasherWilcox 3 роки тому

The unit shipped with SVT, Aguilar, Darkglass, and Sansamp models. Not much, but it seems to me that its at least an indication of more bass stuff to come. I'm a bass player that wanted to upgrade from the B3n as well. The Helix stuff is cool too, just wanted to throw this out there for the other bass players who might be curious about this.
I do agree that this unit falls short in some ways, but I'm still very happy with mine. The guitar amps and even IRs sound fantastic on bass with no shortage of low end, plus the ability to add your favorite IRs sort of cancels the lack of built in bass specific cabs, though I've actually preferred the stock Zoom IRs so far.

ZOOM (and every other manufacturer) needs to divide their presets into 2 groups...make the first half usable, like a template, in a mixing / gigging scenario (no stupid exxaggerated delays or choruses and all that shit) while the other half they can do whatever the hell they want. Man, it's been more than two decades and these multifx makers can't seem to get these presets right.

As I am not a super savvy computer guy i am always looking for a multi effect modeler that can work well and sound good when plugged straight into a pair of powered studio monitors or pa speakers
But when I go to reviews on all of these things I can't ever easily find anyone running them that way
They're always interfacing them with a computer or through the front of a guitar amp
I find it so confusing as to why these units need to be run into a computer when they are already a computer and then on the other hand why would it need to run into a guitar amp when these units are already emulating guitar amps and even mimicking guitar speaker cabinets
It just seems so ridiculous and redundant that these fully featured standalone units need all of these extra requirements in order to sound good
I just want a multi effect device that can sound good going straight into a pa system or some powered speakers
