  • Today Gabor is having a "quick" look at the Sono by Audient...an interface specifically designed for guitarists with built in Two Notes power amp and cabinet modelling.

    Underrated audio interface, i'm happy with this..super low latency, great DI, reamp, two notes torpedo, 1 single channel with input,drive/ tube,output and broad EQ (i wish they make for both channel), ADAT in, hard to beat under 300bucks!

      I concur!! I've been using a SONO for a year now!! It's a sleeper hit!! The GUI mixer is also great, I love the fact you can mix wet/dry, or both, plus you can run it into a DAW, guitar amp, and direct, at the same time!! (via the headphone out, too) ONE thing it needs is a built-in tuner, perhaps. Also, it's portable, you can use it live as an amp sim, that will fit on a pedalboard. You get three different cabs to take with you. On a PC/Mac, with the Two Notes software, you get 11 different cab sims, with reverbs, different mics, etc. The EQ is almost perfect for guitar/bass.

    I own one of these, and I bought it mostly because of practical reasons. It's easy for me to play along with my favourite tracks and artists and not having to deal with a lot of cable. Also, it makes recording super easy. I have the Sono as the last thing on my pedalboard and it works really well with the pedals I have. I feel that it has a great frequency spectrum that can handle everything you send to it. My current favourite cab is the Rad Retro Radio, it is just superb :)

    Thanks a lot for the video man. Long time subscriber but never really commented before. Now that I'm hunting for a new audio interface for my new project, I was wondering about the quality of the reamp part. I have the Radial DI boxes (both passive and active) and Reamper, and all of them although built great, but change the core tone of my recorded signal when sending them out for reamping. Also on the Radial, the Through signal (basically just the dry guitar signal) also changes the sound quite significantly in both passive and active models unfortunately.
    As a session player and composer my core tone is absolutely important for me and I spent almost a life time tailoring it for my music, so I don't wanna mess around with that because I'm going to use the reamping feature. Hence so far I could not find a transparent enough reamper box in the market for me. However, this one sounds like it could be the one! Your opinion absolutely appreciated!
    Cheers,

    Thanks for the video. Whats the difference of this and using any interface (Let's say same Audient id44 or so) which has super preamps and assigning software amp modeling ?

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  3 роки тому +4

      This is quite similar to the iD22 ...the difference is that this has the valve/tube preamp in it AND the Two Notes cab sim stuff. The main difference between using this and the Two Notes Wall of Sound plug-in for example is that this won’t take up extra CPU...it’s all done inside the interface so your computer will have more processing power to do other things
      Hope that answered your question

      Understood.
      But nowadays the CPUs are so high-octane, even the cheaper PC setups should capable of running WOS and dozen other plugins.

    So can you use it with your amp sim stuff? I have an iMac and I use ableton live as my daw, and garage band sometimes, I have that main stage app too, and THU sim software. Right now I have the Apollo solo, but it’s pretty complicated and dsp fills up, and when I upgraded to Big Sur operating system things got all out of whack....So basically I’m looking for an interface that is guitar amp sim friendly, that I can use my guitar software with, and maybe record a little with too but mostly to just practice and jam with. Im an acoustic player mostly, but I’m getting more into the electric. I’m worried about lag time too...any advice you have for me would be great, I’m leaning toward this interface because it seems like it checks all the boxes, just not sure how it works with other IR’s. Also the headphone out on my Apollo sucks big time....barely gets loud.

    Big question, did you experience noise when reamping trough the tube amp??

  • @willdenham

    Would this pair well with a Captor X or is it too much of the same features? I need an interface for the Captor and I like that this has a tube preamp.

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  2 роки тому

      They do share a lot of the same features…you’d almost be better off with one of the old Captors, without the cabinet simulation and then use the cab sim in this!

    Would this interface be able to not only accept guitars but also mics for spoken word. As I don’t want to have to buy two separate devices.

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  3 роки тому +1

      It absolutely does...you can use it for anything...it just has that added tube preamp and Two Notes Speaker emulation built in...but other than that it’s a normal interface

    can I import impulse responses to the sono?

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  3 роки тому

      You sure can...you can store a couple of IRs on the Sono and as many as you like on your computer if you use it as an interface
