- Gol Transportes Aéreos Flight 1907 was a scheduled flight of Gol Transportes Aéreos from Manaus, Brazil, to Brasília and Rio de Janeiro. On 29 September 2006, an Embraer Legacy 600 business jet over the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso collided in midair with the Boeing 737-8EH serving the flight. The upturned wingtip of the Embraer sliced off about half of the 737's left wing. The 737 broke up in midair and crashed into an area of dense jungle, killing all 154 passengers and crew. Despite sustaining serious damage to its left wing and tail, the Embraer Legacy jet landed with its seven occupants uninjured.
The accident was investigated by the Brazilian Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center (Portuguese: Centro de Investigação e Prevenção de Acidentes Aeronáuticos - CENIPA) and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and a final report was issued in 2008. CENIPA concluded that the accident was caused by air traffic control (ATC) errors, combined with mistakes made by the American pilots on the Legacy, including a failure to recognize that their traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) was not activated, while the NTSB determined that both flight crews acted properly and were placed on a collision course by ATC, deeming the Legacy pilots' disabling of their TCAS system to be only a contributing factor rather than a direct cause. - Ігри
It's really sad how the GOL pilots did nothing wrong but ended up being the ones who were doomed.
Y es más triste 😢, escuchar el audio de los pasajeros del jet que los golpeó celebrando que pudieron aterrizar sin ninguna baja, mientras en el avión del GOL nadie sobrevivió.
But they turn off TCAS
No. The Legacy turned off TCAS.
@@Aviation4Ever_651true
N600XL’s fault it happened
they turned off tcas those little bastards-
"What the hell was that??"
The fact that they never even saw the much larger plane even after the impact tells you how insanely fast aircrafts travel. They crossed paths for just a second and were then out of sight of one another right after.
They were probably going so fast that they couldn’t catch a glimpse of it
not even that, they didnt have their TCAS on like they should've. They got away with killing ~200 people....I refuse to believe they didnt see the plane..
Well that… and the fact that most aircraft don’t have any way to look behind the airplane
That "Aii!" will never cease to make me tear up. I bet that they noticed the plane was breaking apart, how fast they were going, and the inevitable death that was coming.
But then the Captain told everyone to stay calm in the cockpit...that's what true bravery looks like.
i cant hear it

It's so hard to listen to. The captain saying "calm, calm, calm" to his FO on the GOL flight is also really sad. How brave is that captain who was fully aware they were all gonna die but he tried to ease the distress of his friend during the last few minutes they had to live.
😢
@@danielmorris6523 I thought the captain's attitude was beautiful, in trying to calm the First officer... I felt a lot of anguish, because there is a 30-minute version of Gol's audio available on the internet, and there is a moment when they were making plans together, on tuesday, the first officer would go to the captain's house to help him sell his camera... They seemed like they were friends outside of work🥺
@@danielmorris6523in fact the minute, in the singular, was 63 seconds until the plane hit the ground
@@xstavinhouufinal words of synced cvr: The F**k Did He Come From?
To me two things stick out. The silence when GOL hit the ground/breaks apart(??) and the CVR ends, and the captain, who no doubt was aware of the seriousness as the aircraft broke apart, reassuring the FO during his last few seconds on earth saying "calm, calm, calm"...
I am certain from reading about the incident that the aircraft broke apart while tumbling which interrupted the power to the CVR.
it think it broke apart. usually, whenever a plane breaks apart (like the adam air flight”) the cvr ends, now the adam air flight though it crashed as soon as it broke apart. so i don’t know what to say about that.
@@maltheartistme I agree with you both. The Uberlingen mid-air collision CVRs also abruptly end. In the DHL you just hear after the collision the first officer says "Jesus" and then "f-ck me" and it ends. I can't imagine anything more terrifying than being in an aircraft in the sky breaking apart. 😭
@@danielmorris6523 yeah, after 11 spins on gol 1907, those forces were enough to rip it apart. yes, the cvr was found, not damaged, but it could’ve fell out as soon as the whole thing broke out, only catching the few seconds of air flowing in.
@@danielmorris6523another thing is: when the dhl flight hit the other flight (i forgot) the few moments of them were caught, the last moments were gasping for air because of the fact dhl 611 broke half the fuselage and the cockpit part of the plane, and the air pressure was changing rapidly. the copilot(?) said “i’m sorry, you were right” (611 was to the left, but he thought he was to the right.)
the CVR of the Boeing 737 breaks my heart every time 😢
What a fucking tragedy... why the fuck would anyone disable TCAS !?

At 0:34, you state that the alert chimes on 600XL going off are "unknown alarms", but at the start of the collision, you correctly identify the chime on PR-GTD's CVR as the altitude alert chime?
I am familiar with 737s alarms, but since I don't know much about Embraer alarms I couldnt decide what alarm was it, so I just said unknown, meaning unknown to me
I can understand that, it was just a little confusing since they sound very very similar.

Where Does The Embraer Landed At
And Are they just talking about cars?
The Legacy landed at an airport in Manaus (if I'm not wrong). And the Gol pilots were talking about cameras, and for a moment they started seeing pictures, and they probably saw a car in one of those pictures. bro how did Embraer Legacy 600 cut the boeing 737 wing off with no problem???
the speed of which both planes were going made it very easy to slice through an aircraft’s wing
Some of the legacy 600 had “improper” or “missed out” blue print design. The spar of the wing went up all the way to the wing tip making it way more durable. It’s like having a semi truck hit a light peice of metal. There will be barely any damage on the semi.
