Man, the first chorus is really fucking brutal in this one. He practically barks 'IT COMES DOWN TO THIS' in the fashion of some metal acts. Great video.
Nobody knows how much i miss Twiggy and Aaron in NIN, but i´m not going to complain about Aaron´s leaving cause Robin is so fucking awesome and i always wanted him to come back to NIN.
I was at the With Teeth tour when they were in Chicago. By far the best concert I've ever been to...Nine Inch Nails is AMAZING live. I can't remember for sure if they played this song...I'm pretty sure they did (hey it was 5 years ago, give me a break =D)
At the same time, who wants to here the exact same thing that your hear on the record? I don't. When I pay $50 or more to see a band live, I want to be wowed. This band definately does just that. So BOOO to your negative comment, NIN is fucking superior!!!
robin used to play them on the low E or D, depending on if he was using drop D or not, the A string, and possibly the other D string. Aaron just plays the same notes higher on the neck, on the A, D, and possibly G strings.
i would rather Pretty hate machine over any Beatles album... I don't like them, i like this music, it's why i listen to THIS music, and not the Beatles.. I respect Reznor more... He doesn't say he's bigger than jesus (not in plain english) he doesn't bitch about people cheering during songs (Throw a lighter at him though then that's it) and he gives back A LOT to the fans and makes them part of the Nine Inch Nails Experience (Another version of the truth).
i must say i wasnt to sure of aaron north but after watching him manipulate the sounds coming out his guitar i give him mad props i still prefer the finck/renholder era but i enjoy this lineup too
Why do you have to compare them? Totally different bands. I don't understand why people have to feel like their band is the best ever. They are both amazing in their own ways.
to note on that... if you really did follow the band like you say, you would know that the reason the old members are no longer with Trent because of their lack of discipline. One of the reasons I love this band so much live, is that they actually put everything they've got into every show. Yeah it may sound a little different, they may add an extra chorus here and there.
Saw this lineup twice- was too far away to get a good look at Aaron North but thought he sounded good- second time I was up close- while I was always a Fincke fan I thought "wow this guy plays like he is crazy!" Turns out he was... Hope he is doing ok.
seriously man why go to a NIN song just to bash on Reznor? He single handedly brought industrial rock to the mainstream; simple as that. If you don't like his voice fine, go listen to someone else ... I personally think he's a genius
I'll admit that I prefer Robin on guitar and Dannyor justin on bass/keys, but 2005-7 with jeordie( a douche) and aaron they sounded really heavy. it's fun to hear the differences between different band members.
In the context of Pretty Hate Machine it's more likely to be about an ex-lover. The album is littered with stuff about betrayal (Terrible Lie being the most obvious)
@steelundergrounder Just so it doesn't feel like I'm shitting on you for the sake of it.... In the Genre of *Industrial Rock* which NIN practically invented and Highly popularized post Shinny PUppy etc. NIN is the Greaest *Indsutrial Rock* songwriter and Musician of all time...period.
@TheClarifier Are you disputing that this song has been on vinyl? Because if you are, you'd be making yourself look like an idiot. Down in It, Pretty Hate Machine, Head Like a Hole, Sin, Broken, Fixed, March of the Pigs, The Downward Spiral, Closer to God, The Perfect Drug, The Day the World Went Away, The Fragile, Things Falling Apart, The Hand That Feeds, With Teeth, Only, Survivalism, Year Zero, Capital G, Year Zero Remixed, Ghosts I-IV, AND The Slip have all been pressed on vinyl i.e. wax.
Aaron North is so fucking amazing, easily the best live guitarist NIN has ever had.
Preach.
Robin Finck is NIN’s best guitarist. That’s why he’s in rock n roll hall of fame with Trent and the rest of the crew.
Man, the first chorus is really fucking brutal in this one. He practically barks 'IT COMES DOWN TO THIS' in the fashion of some metal acts.
Great video.
I like this version with synth part played on bass! Great!
Man I can never get tired of this live version. Excellent job ac1d, always love the little intros you tack on as well.
I saw this live - probably the scariest mosh I’ve ever been in - and I’ve seen hundreds of concerts. Absolutely next level
Twiggy Ramirez on bass!!!
They played this yesterday when I saw them in Maryland & I was so excited cause I thought they stopped playing it! NIN Rules!!!
jeordy on chorus(L). awsome performance. I love the style of aaron.
Nobody knows how much i miss Twiggy and Aaron in NIN, but i´m not going to complain about Aaron´s leaving cause Robin is so fucking awesome and i always wanted him to come back to NIN.
HOLY SHIT! I've been trying to find the KROQ version of the song in a long time! THANKS FOR POSTING!
2021 🤘
I love that "woah" it's like the song became so intense Trent was surprised.
the best song...
I would sure like to have been at this concert! Thanks for posting it all!
One word: BADASS!
Como se le hecha de menos a twiggy verlo tocar en una banda ya sea Marilyn Manson ,nin ,o a perfect circle hera el mejor 😭😔
I was at the With Teeth tour when they were in Chicago. By far the best concert I've ever been to...Nine Inch Nails is AMAZING live. I can't remember for sure if they played this song...I'm pretty sure they did (hey it was 5 years ago, give me a break =D)

i saw him in 2009 and he was incredible!!!
YES. Class tune, great performance. Now how the fuck do I make my guitar do those noises?
Trent is awesome.the best most awesome religion my son robby introduced me to .before christ

I really wanna see NIN live one day... le sigh!!!!!
One of the best concerts in With Teeth Era. Absolutely hilarious !
i can't believe im probably never gonna get the chance to see NIN inch nails live! :(
Why not??
great video quality! even better performance. 2:40min
Trent looks completely different than he does in the rehearsals that same year
this is amazing:)
Trent sounded awesome in '05!!
love what Trent does with his fingersssssss
best live version of this song ever even better then AATCHB version
QUE TALENTO.....
Trent is a awesome live performer
THE FUCKING BASS
Ive seen god live on stage! best concert ever!
Nin the best
oh i see now. those odd sounds over the synthbass. that really did add to the track..
holy mother of the unholy, this shit is amazing. THANK YOU; TRENT!!!!!!!!
Amazing
there were no theremin parts in sin... i only remember charlie clouser using one durring just like you imagined...
At the same time, who wants to here the exact same thing that your hear on the record? I don't. When I pay $50 or more to see a band live, I want to be wowed. This band definately does just that. So BOOO to your negative comment, NIN is fucking superior!!!
so much testosterone!
I really don´t care what do you think, but for me Trent looks better than ever since TDS era... DID YOU SE THAT BODY??? OMG!!!!!!
trent lookin buff! excellent!!
yeah, they perfectly squared with NIN's universe...fortunately Trent will always be there !!!
maldita sea, es una lástima que ya no toquen
effing great..
with Jeordie's bass and Aaron's guitar, it's not the same song...it's so fucking great hoooooooooo
there was theremin in the intro of the `And All That Could Have been` version Sin
eargasm!
robin used to play them on the low E or D, depending on if he was using drop D or not, the A string, and possibly the other D string. Aaron just plays the same notes higher on the neck, on the A, D, and possibly G strings.
Just fucking awesome!
Saw Aaron play two nights ago. Crazy fucker hasn't changed a bit.
i would rather Pretty hate machine over any Beatles album... I don't like them, i like this music, it's why i listen to THIS music, and not the Beatles.. I respect Reznor more... Ditto about Sin.... Jeordie just grew up alot I think or got sober himself...
not a bad thing
The aggression of this show comes pretty close to that of the self destruct tour.
f***in' genius.
wuuuuuu
It's strange seeing Trent of 2005 sing a song as old as Sin. Really rock! But i prefer the old version.
I don't get people calling Trent "fat"...have you seen those guns?
i must say i wasnt to sure of aaron north but after watching him manipulate the sounds coming out his guitar i give him mad props i still prefer the finck/renholder era but i enjoy this lineup too
Why do you have to compare them? Totally different bands. I don't understand why people have to feel like their band is the best ever. They are both amazing in their own ways.
Beside You In Time off the LP "With-Teeth".
If it ever came down to Trents fist I dont want no part of that shit.
I love Sin. Probably my favorite song of PHM and I love the single.
to note on that... if you really did follow the band like you say, you would know that the reason the old members are no longer with Trent because of their lack of discipline. One of the reasons I love this band so much live, is that they actually put everything they've got into every show. Yeah it may sound a little different, they may add an extra chorus here and there.

+dtshangers I was at a show I was so close I could see Aaron's fillings.
I miss the theremin parts.
Twiggy!
@godistv yeah me too, fortunately! i just meant he sounded really badass in this video. ;)
Aaron is great, but I definitely prefer Robin... And Twiggy kicks ass!!
I miss the thereamin from AATCHB
but just a fun fact, the downward spirals main sound came from John Lennons mellotron, like the one he actually owned
@digenovafilm no, the vieo is just poorly ripped that the audio become slightly slower than the image you see
seriously man why go to a NIN song just to bash on Reznor? He single handedly brought industrial rock to the mainstream; simple as that. If you don't like his voice fine, go listen to someone else ... I personally think he's a genius
Ditto.
@steelundergrounder yep, "he's the most important guy in music"(jack white)
Whoa, and I thought the AATCHB version was awesome..
Soo much percussion!
I'll admit that I prefer Robin on guitar and Dannyor justin on bass/keys, but 2005-7 with jeordie( a douche) and aaron they sounded really heavy. it's fun to hear the differences between different band members.

something about SmileBit telling others to "get a life" just seems so... ironic :)
Its UA-cam... Sometimes when I upload it fvcks up the synch...
can somebody tell me the bass tab for this song?
@steelundergrounder
Just so it doesn't feel like I'm shitting on you for the sake of it.... In the Genre of *Industrial Rock* which NIN practically invented and Highly popularized post Shinny PUppy etc. NIN is the Greaest *Indsutrial Rock* songwriter and Musician of all time...period.
Afterthat you all became new religions
2:00 The bass player plays the wrong note (one half step above the intended note) and Trent seems to give him a dirty look at 2:05. haha
Trent, he scares me sometimes lol. Man looks like he could crush your skull.
And yes, I was talking about "SmileBit299."
i concure
prefer the bass line done on synthesizer but still good.
I don't give a shi* what Trent looks like...the dude just runs it...
capitalg07: Terrible Lie is about god, though.
Lol spectraspectacle maybe he might do a James Brown and take some of his pay when he plays the wrong note. Definetly one of my fav NIN songs.
