In case no one has told you Alec, you're awesome. Sharing all you do with us is just amazing, thank you.
Really appreciate you Stan! Hope you’re well!
in case nobodies told you stan they love you today, i love you
A great analogy about this is taking a car that is not a high-end exotic and turn it into your dream car just by doing Simple modifications to it it may not have been what anybody else wanted but after you put your touches on it a lot of people have a tendency to want the same thing and then they want to know how to do it and that's what this knife offers
Everything's there to make it a banger you just have to take the initial steps to polish and paint and customize to your liking
Just got a couple Beavercraft knives, since the rest of the world seems to be out and, damn are they some thick metal. Spent a while flattening the grind and reprofiling the roughout, and gotta say I'm kinda impressed with how well they're holding an edge.
Good idea! It was a bit too thick for my preference too!
That guy was fantastic!
Thank you!
Looks loads better to hold thanks for the inspiration & the Shou Sugi Ban looks wicked 🤘
Thanks Spike!
I love the changes you made to the handle and may do that to a couple of my beavercraft. I will likely use a linseed on the handle as my finish on the torched handle
Cool man thanks, I watched your videos before choosing my starter knife.
Glad to hear!
Thanks for the info Alec. Nice carving - I like him!
Thanks! Glad you like him!
Looks like you have a nice handle on things. Thanks!
I love the dad jokes!!😆
Oh get a grip 😘
Hey hey I did the same thing… I bought the three pack… sloyd style ,spoon knife and a detail knife…. Modified all three handles now it’s a good set thanks for the vids keep em coming from deep river Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦👊✌️
Alright! That’s awesome! Be well! 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Do what you like and you will become educated. Tool ergonomics are important if you want to enjoy using the tool. Tools do not have to be pretty but it doesn't hurt if they are. Sometimes I buy a tool just because I like the shape and want to see why the maker did that. Is it all aesthetics or is there a reason? I have been enjoying your videos. You are good at showing the how too while talking about the why too.
Thanks Jim!
Nice idea for the handle, but the finish - oil will not go through the sprayed laquer ;)
Yes, you are right! I used so little lacquer that the oil still soaked in.
@@AlecLaCasseArt but the lacquer would peel off.
Great video very informative
Thanks mark!
Awesome!! I like beavercraft knives and the company, but always wondered why they put that type of handle on their knives. This video really inspired what you can do to make a knife have a more personal touch. Thank you for showing! 😁😁😁
Thanks a lot Andrew
Покупайте лезвия Бивер Крафт и делайте свои ручки , ведь это не сложно. Лучшее дерево для таких ножей береза или осина, они вегда " бархатные" и после обжига изумительные для ладони.
I recently made myself some carving knives from a circular saw. Maybe I'll show them on my channel😉
Just another tip for viewers... not only can you destroy the temper if you get the blade to hot but it is held in with epoxy which will usually start to break down around 200°f well below what it would take to lose temper. So just use caution. The black handle is really cool though!!
Good call! Thanks!
thanks i got one i like it to nice to have to give to a beginner for the money
Glad you think so too!
I'm building my next carving knives over size and advice owners to trim down to their fit as I'll be doing same as all wood handles on hammers and my tools
If you haven't trim your own hammers to fit you should...
I like that thought!
Carved my own scales from basswood , pinned them epoxied them, and was going to send you a pic. Looks like you don't need
Changed the whole nature of the knife
Cool! Thanks
I believe the wood they use is ash.
That would make sense! Thanks
Great video Alec. What kind of buffer where you using?
Just an old wet stone grinder from harbor freight that I modified !
And thanks!
Beaver craft and flexcut handle will bother my hands unless I’m carving something small like inch by inch piece of wood.
They are a little small for sure
Funny how you think your hands aren’t large.
My (admittedly female) hands need a size large unisex surgical glove and the comparison of that knife in your hand and mine is ridiculous. The pointy bit of the handle that you cut off sticks out behind my grip.
You have big, meaty hands my friend. 😂
Haha, yeah.. I don’t know why I said that. 😂
