They are a great thing mate and I was more impressed with the battery age and still going. It’s my pleasure mate I’m enjoying your content. All is well here mate thanks
Might be worth considering the Mahle starter. Mine was a pig in the cold, literally had one chance and that was it. Unless yours has mega hours I'd also look at the fuel system incase she's pulling air or draining back to the tank like mine is.
Hi Dave, very interesting video. The Halfords batteries can't be bad value for money at that rate. The geared starters are a great job hope you able to get yourself one that suits more than one tractor.
I assume the switch on the gear lever is what you are referring to (It's an old Eaton 2 speed switch). That operates the duel power in place of the original floor mounted switch. Thanks for watching!
Older batteries are built better...newer ones from about 20 years ago seem to be less likely to last and recharge to near new condition.... depends on many factors of course... here in Canada we find out quickly when winter hits....
I can only imagine the toll your climate takes on batteries! Our climate is mild by comparison, but the first-2C night here and batteries suddenly become hard to find 😂
Certainly is Coleman. Interestingly, I've started using those small butterfly switches in place of the bigger ones and they seem to last better. Thanks for watching.
Greetings Dave, here in the states, it seems that most car batteries are made by only two manufacturers. It also seems that newer items aren't as well built. Maybe by design? Programed to fail? I have seen some old batteries come back from the dead...just not recently. Take care Dave
Hey Clinton, always goof to hear from you buddy. They can be a bit hot and miss, but I also guess they must be under serious pressure with the demand of modern cars. I've never even seen the battery of my everyday car, I think it lives under the trunk floor somewhere!
All good Mickey! Hope you're well. That DB 1394 is putting up an awful fight though! I'll see how I get on re the dexta starter and let you know. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi Dave. Only came across your channel. Love the content!! 👍 Can l ask what make battery charger you use for he high ah tractor batteries? Would you recommend it? Will it trickle charge?
It's a maypole MP730. It's a great charge. Straight forward and heavy duty. I sometime run it 24 hours a day for a week. There's no trickle charge, just a few setting, plus it'll do 24V. I've found initially it won't charge fully depleted batteries, but it usually does it after a while.
A very enjoyable video
Thanks! Very much appreciated 🙏. Hoping to bring part 2 in the not too distant future 👌🙂
Hey Dave!! 👍👍👍
Thanks Darrell. The Case video goes live later today!
This is great Dave. Certainly amazed me how fast it started with it
Those geared starters are the dogs. Best money I ever spent. Thanks for watching Steve, hope all is well down under.

@@stevesplacedownunder it's spectacular. Longest ive seen before now was 10.5 years out of the factory battery in a X Type diesel I owned.
Nice one dave .👍
Thanks Richard, hope all is well.
Good video your 6610 is alot easier to start than our 7610 she needs pre heated even in summer 👍

@@davesworkshop2714 she's getting fuel ok I replaced the lift pump few years ago but think your right a high speed starter would be great idea
It's the best thing that ever happened my tractor, absolutely transformed it.
Comment for the algorithm to help the channel 👍.
Sound man, it all helps!! Another video should be on the way for Monday all going well.

Thanks Kevin! I think I'll have to try a few more starts with that battery!!
Nice idea of putting that rug so the battery dosent touch the hood i had the same problem with my Ford 6610
I was thinking I should probably but some plastic lug covers, but I think id still retain the carpet for safety, there really is very little space.
Just wondering that tractor has a 2speed in it never seen that before but I do live in the usa

Thats a good lift battery 😂. I do like the Bosch batterys myself its what i have on the audi. Gear starter is maybe the way forward. Nice one Dave 👍
Thanks Ali 😂
Hi Dave good to see another video from you I’ve always bought Halfords batteries and found them quite good 👍
Thanks Martin. I'm shocked by the life span that one has achieved!

Try it in a winter coldstart. The batteri will not start the engine.. in a summer and not a cold start don't need all power..
If the battery lasts another 6 months I'll happily try it 🙂👍
@@davesworkshop2714 will be nice too watch. 😊
Great video dave,is the masterswitch the the battery isolater switch.

Some going. We are all Varta but u might have swung us. U need to find a 6 cylinder to really test it
I was thinking the same Rob. I think I might try the Range Rover next, or do a series and see what it cam start.
Hi Dave they don't make them like that any more,
They certainly don't! Thanks for watching 👍
Hi Dave hope everyone's well.
I need a starter for my dexta so maybe a geared one is the way to go 🤔

You must have the patients of a Saint but stick with it 😉
Love the videos keep it up 💪💪
Thanks Mickey! The next one I'm ready to burn 🔥 😂
