You truly deserve the extreme pleasure of listening to another YES Masterpiece: Yours Is No Disgrace next. And puhleeze listen to the studio version first. Throughout, the studio version delights your ears with many of the studio effects they were fond of then, that you don't get to hear if you listen to the live versions that are out there...

An exhilarating, almost overpowering tour de force from a band at their creative peak. Rick ramping up the mellotron during the closing stream-of-consciousness lyrics and instantly turning dappled sunlight into brooding storm clouds. Chris relentlessly delivering bass lines that could plough fields. Bill keeping the energy and excitement flowing as if the lives of every man, woman and child in the world depended on it. Jon mastering as never before the power of words to move us by the sheer beauty of the images their sounds create in our minds. Steve thinking what this song needs is a catchy guitar riff. As close to perfection as any progressive rock band ever came.

I too saw that same 1973 CTTE tour at Winterland in San Francisco. Followed by TFTO in 1974, also at Winterland, both whilst indulging some serious hallucinogens. I can well remember the feeling of how connected I felt to the band and the collective conciseness of the audience experiencing each moment of the music together. I trust your experience was similar.
With Peace and Love to you and All! (Michael)

    LMAO you are HILARIOUS!
In this, as in all things, I recommend pot over alcohol.
That song became a dangerous ear-worm for me, when I first had the album- this particular song. That little motif that Steve Howe plays, made it nearly impossible to concentrate in math class. The duet between Chris Squire and Rick Wakeman (on a harpsichored, no less!)....
Enjoy the Yes Effect. And wait till you actually know this song; it gets better and better.
also: look up Jon Anderson. He's just released a new album, and a wonderful song called "Shine On". He's not finished with us, yet.

FYI, YES & Led Zeppelin were London bands that formed in the same year, 1968. Led Zeppelin had a smash hit first album, one of their best, right out of the gate. YES took a couple more years to develop into their astonishing Uber Classic Period, beginning with their 3rd album, The Yes Album 1971. Genesis actually formed in 1967, but their really impressive work, in my opinion, didn't surface until their 4th album, Foxtrot in 1972
Having graduated from high school in 1972, I was a huge fan of all of these amazing bands...

Some songs to start with are Cagey Cretins, Cities On Flame with Rock and Roll, Harvester of Eyes, Dominance and Submission. Keep up the great music. I love Zeppelin, Rush, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floy, The Who and Black Sabbath. BOC are just as good, from the 70s as well, but more underrated for some reason. If you want the most 'accessable' Yes, everything on 'The Yes Album' is a gem, bro! After close To The Edge, they got much more proggressive and challenging. If you travel there, you may want to stick with songs from The Yes Album,Fragile and Close To The Edge. Much later on (80's), they got closer to a accessable, radio friendly sound with the albums 90125, Big Generator and Talk. And one more later on called 'The Ladder'. Other than these...you'd be heavily challenged. Tread carefully.... ;-) T
