If you are in a new build property the plasterboard may have been put up by dot and dab, which means sometimes there is a 1 inch gap between the back of the plasterboard and the masonary Wall / lintel. You can either buy some special wide plasterboard fixings, if in UK screwfix sell them , like this - www.screwfix.com/p/easyfix-self-drill-plasterboard-fixings-metal-32mm-100-pack/2422H , or you could get some longer screws and drill bits and then fix into the lintel or masonary behind the plasterboard. Hope this helps
