How To Install Faux Wood Venetian Blinds - DIY

- In this video, I'll show you how easy it is to install venetian blinds by yourself! The quotes I got for installation were quite steep so I decided to take matters into my own hands and do it myself! Turned out to be easier than I thought and I've added yet another skill to my repertoire of skills - saving myself some change in the process too.
If you're like me and you're interested in installing your blinds on a budget, this video is for you! It's nothing to be scared of.

Great effort here, you’ve really made use of the extra time the ‘rona empowered us with to hone in on your DIY skills ☺️.
I was worried how you casually ‘tossed’ that plastic utility knife aside with an extended blade after cutting the box straps and seeing you wearing 🧦 it’s steel blade is ubër sharp 😱. One more safety tip...cut away from your body when using those knives (if you must) 🤓

Well done. My blinds are from 247 blinds. The pieces for putting up the blind look different to yours and fit to the roof of recess rather than side so need a video for that

Thank god I found your video l I just got my blind delivered from Next a Ready Made Faux White Blind and the instructions were pretty useless. My blind looks pretty much the same as yours just the valance accessories are a little different in design. Very helpful and it looks great on your window. 👏🏽👏🏽

Did you measure the inside first then order specific size online? This looks so easy but also extremely intimidating.
Yes, you measure your window size and they send the blinds in your measurements

@@MadeByDeola the wooden ones went up a treat. The aluminium ones didn't! I dropped them on the floor when the clip didn't go in, and they're all bent.😭

How did you drill the top ones? Did you go through the lintel?
I drilled on the SIDES of the window to avoid the lintel
We need to take ours down for window fitting. Do the pelmets just pull away? Worried about how much force to use. Thanks.

After contacting you found out I need a size 3 drill bit to create the initial hole and then a size 6 to expand it neatly. But your video really helped too.

You have to pull it quite hard, there's a release mechanism at the top somewhere

@simonargent62 There is some kind of stop effect. Gently press the knurled rod in the cord lock mechanism .This will release the cord lock mechanism, and the blinds will come down. 😉 hope it helps. It was working with us, and now it's no problem to lower them.

How did u get the measurements accurate I keep making mistakes on mine when they come to fit and returned x3 so have given up. Is this company made to measure because I think my windows are big
You may ( if you can afford one) invest in a digital tape measure;
It takes away all fiddling around

I've I stalled it but how do I drop it, when I pull the right string nothing happens
I think you have to pull and tug it to the left to release but I hope you've figured it out already
make sure you drop the stops on the string by lowering then down as they will get stuck in the mechanism at the top.
How do you make the blinds stay a certain height
One of the cords is meant for that, it'll depend on which side you chose that cord to be. Just pull it into position

I also received metal saddle shaped brackets with screws, about 1 inch in length. There is so indication in the instructions as to what they are for and I can’t work it out. Anyone know what they are for?
Yes maybe only needed on blinds over 120cm width to prevent the centre sagging.
