Once we were older I really fell down a hard path with drinking. I couldn’t control myself. She stood by me through it all. She was there when I drank so much I ended up in the ER. And she was still willing to stand by my side, even wanted to use her own savings to put me through rehab. At that point I had to walk away. I knew I hadn’t hit my rock bottom yet & I didn’t have it in me to let my drinking ruin her life too. Going through the pain of walking away from her was my real wake up call that I couldn’t live without her. But I wasn’t gonna walk back into her life until I changed. So I got sober for her. It took me almost 3 years. By then she found an amazing guy who truly deserved her. As devastating as it was for me I’m still so happy she found someone who made her feel happy. We are still friends to this day but I’ve never stopped loving her. Been close to 5 years since they got married. I’ve tried and failed relationships. Nothing I do will ever make me stop loving her. So I’ve decided I’m content with being alone for the rest of my life. I can’t enter a relationship knowing any other woman will always come second in my heart. To whoever reads this, don’t ever let her go.

He loved this song and always made sure to mention to our class everyday just how much this song was his favorite. He even gave us bonus points for recording the song on the radio and showing him…. I think this was his way of inserting the memory of his favorite song into our heads, so that when we were older, we could come back to this song and truly understand what the lyrics meant; the songs true message. He’s a good man, I didn’t understand back then, but he was looking out for us even in the future . I have a story to share about this song Few years ago... I couldn't sleep so my cousin played some songs on her phone [My mom was training because she was a police]. When, I heard this song I immediately fell asleep. The next day, i couldn't remember a thing about the lyrics so I couldn't find the specific song. This song was playing in my head constantly when I was homesick at a summer camp that I went to a few years ago (which was quite a lot). I can’t count how many times I would be on a hiking trip and I would head this song in my head especially the “Only hate the road when you’re missing home” line.

Never realised how much I actually loved her until I heard of her engagement a couple weeks ago. Broke up in 2016. Never understood whether to wait or to move on. Talked to her around 10 times in all these five years. She'd be depressed and I would be depressed at time. Both of us never confessed that we missed each other. Haven't seen her face all this while. I could never become a good lover. My arrogance and ignorance destroyed me. Wish I had not distanced herself from me. Since, 2016, I had been kindof chill but there was always something about her that I couldn't stop thinking. Always imagined her in all my imaginations of future life. Last month, she texted me and I clarified a little about what went through my mind. She replied "I wished you told all this 5 years ago. My life would've been so different." And, now, I can never forget these lines. I don't know what is waiting for me in life. Somedays, I wish she comebacks somehow and we can stay together forever but then, I realise that true love means letting them free even if it means that it is going to hurt me. Am I right or am I wrong? I don't really know. But I do know now, that I how much I love her and how much empty I am inside, without her by my side.
Yes you are right..but by letting her go you should also leave and love YOURSELF! - I know this is a cliche line but seriously love yourself...find yourself cause somehow in the middle you got distracted from yourself. Make some good friends, share everything to the trusted..try pour down everything in a piece of art- either a poem/anything .
