Denzel Curry is an American rapper, whose works balance rhymes packed with introspective content and an evolving production palette drawing on hazy cloud rap and classic hip-hop songcraft. Born and raised in Carol City, Florida, Curry started rapping while in the sixth grade and began working on his first mixtape in 2011. Releasing his debut studio album, Nostalgic 64 in 2013 while he was still in high school, Curry has since released three extended plays and four albums. His projects have placed prominently on the Billboard 200 chart and continue to garner significant international acclaim.
ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
Now I’ll take Oxford seriously for bringing such talented artists like Denzel Curry.
we often have important figures like denzel at the union, but then we often invite completely tone deaf idiots
"money doesn't change people it amplifies who they really are" 💪tuff qoute
Denzel is a true great rapper .
Love his music
And hes got a very healthy mindset
Denzel Curry is a true artist. His perspective is worth hearing and his work is legitimate art and poetry that has evolved and changed as his life has. He has versatile range both in his lyricism and production, and his arc is worth highlighting. Don't let the negative comments coming from trolls (who posted almost immediately after the video dropped without enough time to even watch the clip) discourage you. This talk is thoughtful and intellectually engaging. Please give it a watch before forming an opinion.
Forreal bro no other artist has affected me in the same way as Denzel. It's still crazy to me that he isn't more known, because to me he's definitely one of the goats and can really make you think about all kinds of shit while going through different stages of life.
i love his eyes, he has really insanely beautiful eyes, sorry but they're magical but yeah, i literally love everything about this guy. but his eyes are, damn god. i'm sorry about myself. me luv u Denzel ♡ ૮꒦ິ° ꒦ິ۵ ა , ૮༼@﹏ ●"༽ა i' sry ♡♡♡
Most underrated artist, from the XXL freestyle. He was definetly overshadowed by all those other guys, but was by far the most talented one there.
You can tell this crowd doesn’t really know his music by how few people raised their hands when he said “how many of y’all know me for yelling?” 😂
YO HE SPTTIN WHEN OFF STAGE TOO
Bravo Oxford Union, expanding minds and bring perspectives and people to new audiences. Brilliant opener the breaking down of 50cents meaning, then how life in America is being coiled and ready for the punch. Hypervigelence as comfort, the heartbreaking legacy of Americans passed down generations.
When interviewing a black rapper in America the development of his music the self awareness of it and then the passing and molding from not just words about anime but to gun violence, school shootings, and human rights. It's the evolution of an artist and a slice of history all in one.
The comments 😔
To see that there is still this rascist genalization with rap music is exactly why more black artists from around the world need to be interviewed.
unsurprised a rapper of his stature would be invited to something like an oxford union qna. A lot of uk fans of rap and hiphop do like the general party rap but we also appreciate a plethora of outstanding artists who modl their talent into creative masterpieces from dave to stormzy to skepta and many more.
This dude gotta stop saying that’s amazing to everything especially topics that aren’t pleasant like wtf
why they leaking denzels address 😭😭😭
0:17 that man in the black adidas sweater is hyped af
I was expecting him to say Lord Infamous not DMX. lol
Learned so much more about Zel thru this
“I want everybody in this room to close their eyes” *closes eyes and suddenly Limu emu commercial starts playing*
AND DOUG lol
Excellent how completely positive this was even through the negative points. Denzel curry - Money doesn't change people it amplifys who they already were.
Denzel is a solid MC but someone should have briefed him on the audience. Life is not going to throw all those challenges at these people, they are Oxford students, they are privileged personified. Very very few people at Oxford know what it is like to be in a mind numbing job they hate.
yep, Oxford still has a quota to meet to take in working class and underprivileged students... a quota lol like thats one of the reminders they need to have on their phone. its actually mental. oxbridge will always be an exclusive club. I wished another university hosted him but nothing is as prestigious as oxford union discussion.
Nah Oxford students will also go trough shit
@@vinnieboy3963 …said no one ever
@@vinnieboy3963 lol
That’s a lot of assumptions bro. As someone who grew up poor and went to a prestigious university it’s really not all like that. Yeah the majority come from wealth but there are many, many students at these schools who are working part or full time while doing their classes just to survive. Don’t be so quick to judge others
How am I just hearing about this
Denzel lamb curry
Last time i remember a rapper came it was a$ap now denzel these two are definitely well spoken artist

Can you invite Frank Ocean?
In my opinion, this is the best discussion from your enlightening output. He is a point of reference for moving on.

THIS AIN'T NO DENZEL WASHINGTON! LOL!
What an absolute brickbrain
How so?
I hope that’s a compliment 😂
@@Croco_Gbecause there was hardly any insightful point that exited his mouth?? This was a very intellectually dry monologue and painful/cringy to listen to, frankly. I don’t believe the right crowd is being reached having this guy on Oxford university lol.

In the interview, denzel shares his journey as an artist. he talks about the hard parts of making music and being famous. he wants us to know how those things affected his feelings and mental health. denzel also says it's important to stay true to yourself as a creator. maybe you can't relate to everything he said. that's okay ig, his story is about his own life experiences. just because it's not like yours doesn't make it boring. i'm not trying to say you're wrong. i just want to help explain why i think he has good lessons to learn from.
@@mvttx9851Wow, you’re so smart. 😄😳🥵
Cambridge went as low as you can get with Big Narstie. Oxford are trying to catch up. The dumbing down of universities is in full flow.
white people be like
what the fuck are you saying!?
Dumbing down because they invited Denzel Curry?
@@elliothammer9485 white people aren't used to minorities outperforming them just let him seethe
@@hshdvdgd3532 mm yeah
Literal who.
grow up - he's more articulate than many PhDs
@@iansmith6086 "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” ~ Denzel Curry
@@Dokuzu Are you sure that wasn't Rocky? 😂
@@iansmith6086 Was a summary of an address Nicholas Klein made to clothing workers in 1919 Gandhi said something similar in 1920 . . . .
But sure let it be Denzels.
@@Dokuzu I don’t doubt it. Most PhD’s in the last twenty years come off the back of a cornflakes box. A guy in Manchester recently got awarded a PhD for a paper on wanking to Japanese pederasty manga comics.
