Dear God, hear my prayer. Please let me wake up and find that it's all been a nightmare, and that Johnny, Ed, and Doc will be on TV tonight.
Agreed fallon is immature colbert isnotfunny and Kimmel sucks
Talk about living in the moment!
amen to that!!!!
Watch carson channel.
Me too....
Carnac was by far my favorite skit that Carson did on his show. Nobody since he left can even touch his brilliance.
How about his used car salesman at the corner of Main & the Slausen cutoff. You turn right on Main & cut off your Slausen.
Carnac was truly the best of Carson. And, have always enjoyed ART FERN and the TEATIME MOVIES. Carol Wayne always brought something special to each bit.
@@budnelson2495 She brought TWO special somethings to each skit.
@@benoitpellet1657 And Johnny always made sure to recognize them on each skit!
No I loved his sketched
THIS was one of the MANY reason's why Johnny was the "King of Late Night."
There has never been anyone like Carson. He was the best!!
Johnny doing the subtle rock in his seat during the setup, then stopping abruptly one second after the punchline to get the laugh. That’s old-school vaudeville 101 and he learned from the best.
Ed McMahon's laugh made it even more funny
Carson's expressions were enough to set off hysterics. The "Thousand Clowns" question was pretty gutsy. Only Carson could have gotten away with that answer.
How about the "girl with something extra" joke, a transexual joke in 1974. That was pretty gutsy/risky.
The Undisputed, absolute, no-doubt-about-it, inarguable, most definitely, and no-one-else-was-is-or ever will be close to, G.O.A.T. of late night, variety shows, entertainment tv. Carson for me will ALWAYS be King of Late Night!!!!!!!!
I was 22 when this show was aired. To this day I could remember how much fun these guys had doing this show! I remember really wanting to do this for a Living!
This wasn’t actually a show. It was a special presentation for the annual NBC affiliates meeting. No band, playing him on, TV references like “May a weird holy man get your weather girl in trouble” or “May your only daughter go into syndication with an army camp.”
@@duffmiver2636 I never realized that Duff. Thx for letting me know. But, I really had wanted to to this. Many people know me to be funny. I got this quick wit fromMy Father. I’m not saying this to brag. I never thought I could do stand up or anything like that. I know most times I come out with jokes amid conversation. I’m 68, so I remember seeing many Tonight Shows. I feel, no doubt, Johnny Carson was definitely the best at it. I remember some of Steve Allen ( another really funny man ) doing the show. I think 1st. I could be wrong- it may have been Jack Parr. It just Always has seemed like such a Great way to make a Living!! Thx Again!!
the single funniest skit ever created for television... funnier than even anything SNL ever put on. These hold up so well the references may be dated but the humor is still so solid. God bless Johnny and Ed!
@uneedtherapy42. It is important to remember that as funny as Carson's sketches on "The Tonight Show" were, he ripped off a lot of his regular sketches from others. For example, "Carnac The Magnificent" was a ripoff of Steve Allen's "Answer Man" sketch on Allen's earlier version of "The Tonight Show". And Carson blatantly ripped off the "Aunt Blabby" character from Jonathan Winter's "Maude Frickert" character. When Winters was asked why he never sued Carson, Winters stated that he didn't want to create any bad feelings between them.
Hilarious, but my favs are the Art Fern skits...lol!
I remember, "May an orca relieve himself on your living room floor. "
Classic.
The best thing about being sick at home was you got to stay up late and watch Johnny Carson.
If you got to see Carnac or Art Fern the Tea Time movie host it was epic.
Carol Wayne... 'Nuff said!
What do you do at the Slausen cutoff?
His monologues, Carnac, The Mighty Carson Art Players and the other skits are such legends created by Johnny. Future generations will never have this great late night television in their lives.
Damn my ribs hurt after watching this. The best parts are always when the crowd would boo one of the jokes or Ed getting to the "last envelope" and Carnac's reactions.... 😂
I loved when Ed would say it's the last envelope and everyone would cheer just to see what Carnac wold say
That's not it. It was a sarcastic, mocking cheer indicating everyone was happy the bit was finally ending (they were just kidding).
The Carnac skits never seem to get old.
I love how Carnac has what looks to be a friggin’ seat cushion perched atop his head while keeping a completely straight face. Man, even though I was born long after the glory days of Johnny Carson, my dad taught me to enjoy all the good things from the past, thus I have a great sense of respect for the classics and the legends of what some call the “The Good Old Days” of television and movie entertainment.
Simple. Mr. Carson was, and always will be, the best!!
That 1000 clowns joke applies to all the networks now.
it also applies to the Democratic Party, and the American Justice, Health Care and Education System(s).
+deathknight2400 You forgot the Republicants.....
Painindeass1million butt hurt much?
It's especially relevant for NBC though. Always will be.
What else do you expect from either the 'Clinton News Network' OR the 'Communist News Network'....both a/k/a "CNN"?
i love the reaction when he did the "girl with something extra" part
I like that they got it because it was based on a tv show.
One of the funniest jokes I’ve ever heard!
CAN YOU EXPLAIN THIS JOKE TO ME PLEASE
@@sleeeeep measurements of 32,24,36 and 9 is implying that she has something ... extra

+sunnykat11 it's spelled: of NOT og. lol
+Michel Madaire It was a typo.
my favorite one is still Catch 22 what happens if you hit the Dodgers 100 fly balls
No it's not a typo. I feel you man. You're saying that Carson is a real O.G. The real O.G. of Late Night T.V.
Hey! That even rhymes! ♪♫He's the reeeal O.G. (the real O.G.)♪♫ Of Late Night T.V.! (late night tv) ♪♫

For all the millennials who never got to see Carson nightly...there’s simply no one in today’s tv market that compare. He’s the best and in a class by himself.
there really isnt. been binge watching him for awhile now. wish i could go back in time!
Yes and his sketches
U know he and Richard Pryor were close friends
Gen Z here. Sad I never got to witness the height of comedy.
Shsh boom bah! We watched Carson almost every night at university. I was in NYC the night of his final show. I remwined in the hotel to watch. There were times when Carson would have me laughing so hard I'd be in tears. His sense of comic timing was perfect.
This is from 1974 yet is still funnier than 90 % of the stuff you see today.

Would any one complain if NBC canceled jimmy Fallon and just started to show Johnny Carson Reruns?
Maybe Brian Regan. Fallon loves him. Since Letterman left he's been on TTSwJF a bunch. It'll be hard to beat the Late Show record tho'...28 times.
The Democrats?
@@CH-wm6wo I am talking about People. Democrats don't count.

Johnny was the best, and all the other night show hosts have never topped him since! how we all miss him!
I laugh just as hard as the first time I saw this episode 40 years ago. Thanks Johnny!
Hey brother I'm Arthur mele jr
I love when Johnny does this and when Ed laughs while hes doing it ! They are both funny with each other !
That "girl with something extra" line was INSANE! I wonder how many people got it at the time?
For sure !! 🗽🦅Our insane today Gender issue.🇩🇰🇺🇸🤔📬
I just did... 🙃
"The Girl with Something Extra" was a reference to a TV sitcom by that title which ran on NBC for one season in 1973-'74.
@@MooPotPie No..it referred to a 9 inch penis...I wonder if that joke would pass censers in 2022 ?
This audience would laugh at Dinah Shore backing into a meat thermometer! ha ha ha Classic Carson!
That line was totally hilarious!!!
Being live TV, makes his comedy and fast thinking, so much more remarkable.
It wasn’t actually live. I attended the show one time. They had a clock set to Eastern time and the show began when that clock hit 11.30. It was actually in the 7:00 hour Pacific time when the show started. I remember looking at my watch when the show was over thinking that “my family back I. The Eastern time zone was about 20-25 minutes into the show I just watched finish in person”. I guess they would call it “tape delay”.
Answer: Carnac The Magnificent.
Question: Name a skit better than any today.
i wonder if jimmy could pull this off, or at least revive a new version of it. but most of them would be about trump or something much less witty than this...
Conan's in the Year 2000 is the only close skit
@@markmsmeltzer Carson took this bit from Steve Allan. Allan had a bit called the answer man which he talks about in this clip. ua-cam.com/video/wrO14lZ7QNc/v-deo.html From his telling he was not the first one to come up with this, although he did not know it when he started doing it. After 47 years, this is still more funny than the garbage shows on tv today.
48 years now!
I can’t stand any late night talk shows now. All they do is talk about Trump. If it weren’t for him they’d have nothing to talk about.
I have seen this a couple times in person I used to live near North Hollywood and frequent Burbank to watch a show taping was 5:30 in the afternoon free to anyone back in the 70s and it was even more funny in person

Almost 50 years old and I laugh, and laugh, and laugh some more.
Makes me miss my pops more but the laughs I heard from my father was pure joy 🙌🏼
What a classic and I just watched this on the exact 50th anniversary of the broadcast! I will always miss Johnny Carson. I watched his show as early as 1968 as well as his last one in 1992. I didn't watch every night but I did quite often!
Johnny Carson will always be the greatest host in television history.
I love the gag when Carnac trips, but lands on his (prop) desk, destroying it! A true slapstick, never-fails laugh device! He did not have that in this video, so it is probably in another Carnac segment, hopefully on YT!
Carnac was my favorite bit on Carson...sure miss him
The Master. Unrivaled. No one comes close.
This was one of the BEST Carnac nights in my humble opinion!
My favorite one is still:
"Mine Sweeper........ Name the book Hitler wrote about his cleaning lady."
My two favorites were...
"Bi-lingual.....What do you call a lingual that swings both ways?" and...
"Siss, boom, bah......Describe the sound made when a sheep explodes."
Head & Shoulders..........what floats to the top of cannibal soup
My favorite, although it wouldn't be too tasteful today, was during the Iranian hostage crisis in the late '70s. Iran's president was Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, pronounced GOATS-ba-day. Carnac said "Ghotbzadeh" and then read, "What do Iranian men do when they can't get women by night?"
Bjorn Borg. What sound is made by two fat people making love?
A potato, Burt Reynolds, and Sargent Shriver Name a spud, a stud, and a dud!
Yahoo Serious (a late 80s Australian comedian)...What are the two stages of sex?
So great to see what inspired my Grandfather to write his book of jokes in 1976! It's been a lot of fun sharing them with UA-cam!
Carnac The Magnificent rules i miss johnny
And I miss "your friend and his, Art Fern." "Stop your car, get out, and cut off your Slauson."
Johnny was the best!!!!!!!!
"May your only daughter go into syndication with an army camp."
You too, Johnny.
The Dinah Shore reference sent me straight up !!!
This stuff is so classic and will never get old
Content holds up, he was way ahead of his time
Mount Baldy ...,... hilarious
3 dog night still laughing..
The KING OF LATE NIGHT.....
STILL REMEMBER MY DAD AND MOM LAUGHHING AT HIM AND ED AS I LAY AWAKE UPSTAIRS WISHING I COULD BE PART OF IT
Simply the best ever. One of a kind and sorely missed.
This is one of their absolute best. I’m still 😂😂😂😂😂💥
The girl with something extra! LOL!!!
The most funny, hilarious Carnac entrance is when he came out of the curtains (Now he always trips) walks to the desk, trips, but he rolls his arms like He's swimming, and belly lands on a desk you know is made out of cardboard! Absolutely funny!🤣😂😅
I was 13 years old.
I grew up watching Johnny. Still miss him.
Great seeing Johnny and Ed in their prime. Brings back memories
"May a weird holy man get your weather girl in trouble." Classic.
Don't get it
Johnny and Ed. Old School forever.
wow. Just a few months before my mom was born. amazing to see this just months before the person that gave me birth was born. 1991 for me. But young man I am... I love old style talk and things of this nature. Johnny even though you was gone year after I was born... ill always watch u and appreciate you
Siss Boom Bahh...Describe the sound made when a sheep explodes...
The best Carnac line ever. I laughed so hard I was crying.
😂
My favorite too
Steven Tebou McMann said this was the only one Johnny warned him about ahead of time. He told him this will wreak you!
@@samanthab1923 It definitely wrecked me, Sheila. I used to love the Carnac bit, and I'm not sure I've ever laughed at anything as long and as hard as I laughed at that line...
"What do you do if you play 'Horsie' with Don Rickles???" Oh ... My ... God ... ROFL!
This is my favourite Carnac sketch.
This one was the best, all great lines
I love Carnac!
Thank you for this excellent channel... one of the best on UA-cam. I love that you have full episodes and also playlists of classic bits like Carnac. Thank you for keeping Johnny's memory alive for all to enjoy!

I love the great carnac and Aunt Blabby
Gotta have more Carnac The Magnificent!
He was the best comic one to host The Tonight Show !! Not even Jay Leno was as great as Johnny !!
Miss the johnny carson show remember watching this as a kid this was my favorite part of the show
Oh man I love these 😀
"the girl with something extra" was hilarious.
Carson was the GOAT!
Agreed!!!
Can't get enough Carnac. My favorite is still: A: Marcus Welby, picked herring, and Doris Day; Q: Name a surgeon, a sturgeon, and a virgin.
"May you be visited by a blind Eskimo proctologist!"
I love how every time Mcmahon would repeat the answer Carson would act disgusted. That was all part of the act! Every time! The fun part was seeing how he was going to act disgusted the next time because he did it every time and you knew it was coming. Gold.
Wow! I was 13 years old in May 1974. I remember when Johnny Carson was 90 minutes long. Would (try too, at least) stay up to midnight, ready to watch a horror flick, but first, be watching Johnny Carson.
Those were GREAT years!!!
Mega I’ll say it over and over Maga
Mount Baldy.
MOUNT BALDY.
That's what I said, Mount Baldy.
**fooh fooh**
What did Yul Brenner's wife do on their wedding night?"
HIIIII OOOOOOOOH
That's EXACTLY where I went!
My favorite Karnac shutdown: "May the fleas from a thousand camels roost in your arm pits". Euuuuuuuuuwwwwwwwwwwww........... ;-)
Still hilarious. Laughing to tears.
The audience that night was comprised of NBC-affiliate general managers from around the country, and other NBC personnel, hence the industry-related comments by Johnny between the jokes. Good stuff.
This country could use and needs, hundreds of Carsons.
Ed certainly knew his place, best 2nd hand man In talk shows.
This is my favorite of all-time during the 70's and 80's!
I forgot just how stupid this gig was, but I still love it, besides it's still way funnier than anything on late night TV now.
This was one of the best ones.
Thank you for putting up the full segment
how can anyone NOT like these Johnny Carson videos - love Carmac.....
Best late night tv EVER!
I would say the same prayer. Beautifully said.
People talk a lot of stuff on the internet but "Carnac on a roll... this audience would laugh at Dinah Shore backing into a meat thermometer" is actually the best line in television.
He got me every time with the trip.
Carnac always cracks me up
Oh how i miss watching this show.
back in 1977 (I was 11) we were at my grandmother's for xmas, it was very cold outside. She came in from outside and said "wow, it's going to be a Three Dog Night"...…..I looked at my older sister. I said "Grandma what does that mean"? She said "well back in the day if your husband was up to no good, you sent him out to the barn to sleep with the dogs (to keep warm), and the colder it was the more dogs you slept with."
Actually, it was a term coined during the Alaska gold rush. The miners would have a dog sled to get their supplies around. At night the miner would sleep in his tent. If it was a really cold night he would bring one of the dogs into the tent to sleep with him. If it was very very cold he would bring in two dogs. You can imagine how cold it was if it were a 3 dog night.
Watching this again in January 2021 and it’s better than ever!!!
