  • Have you, like me, seen these and wondered if they are worth buying?
A Fraction of the cost of the various "Woodsman's Shirts" out there - but are they any good?
Here is my review and how I got on when using one.
Here is a link to buy one from Forces Uniform & Kit :

Hi Neil, I got one of these last September. Been loving it ever since. Great item for £9.99 in my case. Also bought a field jacket for winter with same build quality. A M65 type jacket, fantastic value I think I paid £23. Loving this Austrian kit 👍🏾😊

I just got the same jacket in xl size ( watch out) they come up small for bigger guys… the jacket is short on the waste … I’m a 190 in uk military sizing. Big sizes are really hard to find and recommend you check zips carefully as often damaged or missing the fobs. It’s a really nice jacket though, especially if your not into dpm or mtp. Tacticool in fact without looking like your ready for war.

Awesome shirt, looks like a video to see how much of your SAS survival kit you could get in the pockets & still be able to wear it properly & comfortable.

I had a look on their site, quite impressive, with lots of kit. Many years ago, (when I was the best-looking bloke in NATO - 3 years running), most/all of their jackets, etc, would've fitted me. Like most places, they don't seem to do sizes for the "wider grandad," but that's to be expected. Thanks, good video.

Wider grandad sizes are there but you just have to look ( not in the distressed section)… I’ve just ordered the xxl jacket ( not the shirt) and a pair of ripstock combats…struggling to find the lightweight shirt as worn in the video again though ( up to 50’). They come up small so get bigger sizes. Fantastic kit and really rare now across all military surplus suppliers. If you want military olive green try military first perhaps ( new kit).

Thanks so much Neil. I just got myself a surplus Polish Bread Bag for $10 and it's the best haversack I have ever had. Have you ever used one?
Thanks so much for all you do. Your very inspiring.

I've been using (and loving) the Austrian Army GoreTex waterproof jacket and salopettes for the last 10 years. They are hard-wearing, durable outer garments that have admirably stood the test of time. Because I regularly treat them with NikWak TX wash-in detergent and re-waterproofer, mine still look new and are 100% waterproof. Even in the heaviest of storms, water just beads off; they have never wetted out.
I chose to go with the Austrian colour scheme for the reasons you mention. Funnily enough, I also bought them from F.U.K.
I own a ton of outdoor kit, and these garments are in my top-ten list of all-time best-buys. If they ever wear out, I'd endeavour to replace them like-for-like in a heartbeat.

    Hi Neil,
I’m sure I’ve seen you mention your foil windshield made from an aluminium tray, but I don’t recall how you scrunched it up so it folds well. What is the secrets please?
    Cheers
