First of all, go to Chicago, not just outside of Chicago. Then if you're going to do deep dish, go to Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, Gino's East, or Pizzeria Uno. Now understand that deep dish is really more for special occasions or tourists. The best more "everyday" pizza in Chicago will usually come from a small neighborhood place. This pizza is thin crust and is cut into squares. If you're born & raised in Chicago, you know what I'm talking about.
Im from Joliet, and I totally agree with this statement. If we were having pizza on a regular basis, we would have the extra large square pizzas, but on "special occasions" like a date night, we'd get deep dish.

As a New Yorker, this guy had to retake this.
Messed up on both ends. As a Sicilian, Detroit city had the best pizza to me.
Same with Chicago. Nobody here eats deep dish or claims it, it's not Chicago style just cause it's from here. Lol ask any chicagoin what real Chicago style is and it's a big slice the size of your torso damn near and a can of pop for 5 bucks of some pizza thats pretty similar to New York style honestly. I mean how different can u make pizza anyways. Deep dishes are dumb ASF

It's in Cary/FRG lol it's a direct suburb not that far
I live in Oakwood Hills, I looked up the Uncle Jerry’s pizza Company place they went to and it’s literally eight minutes away from my house. This is nowhere even near Chicago.

@@nicklagoni7306he just said it's two hours away. That doesn't fit the definition of direct suburb
From a fellow Chicago man myself bruh I approve your message 👏🏿
I fully agree with your comment. I don’t even remember the last time I had deep dish pizza I’ve always got the thin crust tavern pizza.
Pequods all the way. Lou’s is close second
Malnati’s is the best deep dish. Thin crust Vito and Nick’s is my winner
Basing ANYTHING off David Portnoy's opinion automatically negates whatever you were going to say 🙄😒😑
This is like having Gordon Ramsay go up against some random head chef lmao
he does this like every year in Hell’s Kitchen
So you're actually saying NY pizza is the gourmet crafted best of the best and chitcago pizza can be made by any greasy bum ! 👍 Gotcha
@@j.robertsergertson4513he went to the best place in NYC and then a random place no one's heard of that's not even in Chicago.
To be honest Little Caesar's is more authentic and better than both Chicago style or New York style.
@@j.robertsergertson4513No, he's saying that the guy cherry picked the best NY pizza place and just went for a random joint outside of Chicago.
And the random outside of Chicago still almost beat the cherry picked NY. So if he'd been as selective with (and actually in) Chicago, NY would have lost.
my guy went to some random place outside the city 💀. Shouldve gone to Pequod's for real chicago deep dish
That's what I said

Dude I like classics like girodonos or Louis
Yes or Lou’s like bruh
Agreed! Or Lou Malnati’s (get the full layer of sausage, it’s phenomenal). Gino’s East or Pizzeria Uno are great choices too!
As a Chicagoan, wtf is uncle jerry’s 😭😭

Girodanornos or lou malanatis is the best

As someone from “just outside of Chicago” this is a disgrace!
New York Jews paid him to do so.
I got a couple rock solid places that I’d recommend here for thin, pan crust, and deep dish. I watch all the East coast pizza reviews, I’d still put ours on top. Going downtown as a tourist doesn’t justify anything.

Lou’s is the best pizza hands down. Tbh New York style pizza doesn’t stand a chance, doesn’t even come close to how amazing Chicago deep dish pizza is. Just the facts.
I Really like Giordanos too
Yes, if you are going to try Chicago deep dish you have to go to Lou malnatis
Hands down the best pizza in Chicago. This schmuck wouldn't know good food if it slapped him across the face.
You owe it to yourself to try Pequods. I lived on the same block of Lou’s original restaurant in Lincolnwood for 10 years, now I work a half a block from Pequods out in Morton Grove 🎉🎉🎉 Pizza Gods have been great to me 👌
