How To Fix A Ripped Seat

- In this video, I will be showing you how I sew & repair a torn seat that has ripped at a seam. I will also be applying a light coat of Duplicolor Medium Grey Vinyl Spray to any of the excess foam that happens to be showing after the sewing.
This is by far not a "professional" repair, but it gets the job done with little to no money out of pocket.
We will be fixing the driver's seat in this 2005 Ford F150. The rip was caused by the typical wear and tear of sliding in and out of the vehicle, and fortunately, we can discreetly sew it back together at the seam.
If you would like to see how I sew up a tear in a cloth seat that is NOT along a discreet seem, you can check that video here:

Thanks dude im trying to fix my cars seat and this is just the info i was looking for great job on your seat👍
If you use button thread, it will not break. Very strong. You cannot break it no matter how hard you pull on it. Good videos. Thanks.
why didn't they make the seats with that stuff

Very helpful and straightforward thank you!
great video! looks super good and i like the you set expectations at the beginning to let people know this fix won't looks OEM but looks awesome . soooo much better👍
That was really awesome my dude, now i can fix my car seat 😉👍🏻
This was very helpful thank you
I was planning on paying to get the rip in my fixed, until I saw this. I’m definitely planning to trying this out
Thank you. I had already started sewing mine but I was wondering if I was doing it right or if it would hold up. I appreciate the confirmation.
Worked great. I broke the thread three times and then boom kept watching and you said don’t pull it too hard and do sections. I was going to upload a photo, but it won’t let me. Only a comment. Hahahahahahahha
This is exactly what I need to do to my Ridgeline. 260k miles I didn't really need to spend $300 for a full repair.👍
I will do this❤
Learn the double needle blind stitch method. Much cleaner repairs.
Thank you. I have been looking for the needles for a while
Any special thread? I have carpet thread
Good job man love the video thumbs up keep making them
Thanks for watching Ivan!
The Car Flip with Justin Carper can you make a video explaining how to handle taxes and floating the title ?
Yeah man. I'll go over that in an upcoming video.
Michael Bisbing's long lost, American brother.
Your hair is awesome. Do you have blonde streaks in there or is that all natural?
Super helpful
It looks fine. Thanks!
What about something to keep it from happening again? Over the years we tried several different seat covers to avoid this and in the end they all failed miserably.
Thanks 😁 well done 👏
Fishing line? Foam alternative(s) for 3" tear?
My question is... how do you tie a knot? I've seen videos where people just put it through the same hole or 'same hole' several times. I tried that with my blanket but it does not work.
I did fix my car seat tho. I use to often wear a duty belt. Up until a few days ago. Now im part time with that job. I'll eventually get my seats reupholstered. Hate the care but ima invest in it. Get the interior redone. Get new windows. Better headlights. Get the paint chippings repaired. New seats. New everything on the inside.
Bring the value up on it while I'm still paying it off.
Put in aftermarket spark plugs and performance brakes and rotors. And aesthetics and make the appearance more pleasing. Put in a cold air intake. And get some cents installed in the hood. Maybe the front side wing panels.
Thanks man!
Thanks bro
Nice hair!
why is my wheeled chair seat all torn up? do they sell crappy chairs on purpose?
A sewing awl would have done a better job and using sail thread would never break. For a quick fix your job will do.
It's more likely the fabric would rip before the stitching...At least that's what it looks like happened to the seat originally.
I have a sewing kit = moms sewing kit
ok
"Like so" ... and ... "like sew".
I swear to jeebus. I have the same truck with the same rip
Sew it up, pop a neoprene/wetsuit cover(s) on from Dickies...
Ok, when is in that place is easy but teach me how to fix a ripped seat when is in the rear seat, in one corner where you can't sew.
All you need to do is unbolt the seat, sew it up, and then bolt it back in.
There is a
better thread out there.
I'll drive by a laundry and repair shop and ask, if you take the seat out or perhaos, could they repair it in truck. But, I would ask if u could bring in the seat. . I'm sure they could give u an idea..uf they can fix it. Even a leather shoe shop or show repair shop. Ask
Great video short and sweet
Go Bengals
Thanks!
😂
Poor sewing, you are bunching the material, you could have hidden the seam much better.
That's a very amateur job and looks terrible.
Well I am an amateur, soooo... This video is just to show how to make it look better. If you’d like to spend a few hundred dollars to have it professionally repaired, you are more than welcome to. That would definitely look more professional.
@@TheCarFlip sorry. Maybe a but rude on my part. Look up a double blind stitch. Maybe a box stitch. They look almost factory if done right. Thanks for the vids.
Thanks
I used dental floss and just matched the color with a sharpie
Uh for real 😧
Still holding up a year later?
