Crab mentality. I knew exactly what you were talking about before you ever got to the explanation. Yes, that mentality is very commonplace in impoverished areas with low education rates. I have witnessed it myself for 40 years of being alive and experienced it personally in my own family.

I can totally relate Kevin. There comes a point in time when you have to let it go and live your life your way.

If you are a Christian one of the nice things is you can distance yourself from someone you love and still remember them in your prayers.
I've seen amazing good things happen to people that I remembered to pray for though I saw them rarely.

Great reminders. Peace in the company of the right people is one of the most important aspects of living well. 🕊️

Kevin, I had to stop this video half-way because I was so moved by what your experiences were regarding "stockbroking" ups and downs and the treatment you received by your parents whenever you gained any success. Having lived 30 years of life now, I am fully convinced there are some people in life who are not only just toxic but are actual JINXES - a mere conversation (and any association) with such people will actually ruin your life chances, even to the point where it affects totally unrelated areas of your life. I have seen this happen to a family friend: he has his own business but only ever does well whenever he STOPS going to the pub for a pint with his (toxic) brother. Literally the moment he starts drinking with his brother again, everything in his business descends to ratshit. And I mean everything. It is both uncanny and surreal. You made the right decision in your life, though I don't need to tell you that!! Keep strong my friend!

Kevin, I’m 52 & my brother is 50 we made the decision to stay away from our mother 4 years ago, a couple times a year we talk about how much better our lives are without all the toxicity in the picture.. So I feel you man👊🏼👊🏼

I think there are many of us in this situation, most just feel too ashamed or embarrassed to talk about it. Glad you and your brother made the difficult, yet emotionally intelligent move.

Excellent advice. My husband grew up in a similar family and situation. We removed ourselves from his toxic narcissistic mother and sisters 2 years ago. We stopped the cycle with our kids and have happy well adjusted kids. Its been a life time of learning, setting boundaries and counseling. Love your channel, hope someone heeds your advice and walks away from a toxic relationship. We did and it was the best decision for our mental health and protecting our kids from the toxicity. Thanks Kevin!

Sensible talk, not often easy but necessary. I always watch your videos to the end. That's saying something, I rarely do that. Thanks! 💕

I walked away from my family years ago. Too toxic. I felt guilty until one day the Lord showed me in the Bible where He took many great men & women away from their families before He could use them.
Even The Son of God said,"A prophet is without honor in his/her own house!" It's true.
And the saying " Blood is thicker than water" is actually talking about brother/sisters on the battlefield that spill blood together are closer than those you are born of water with (siblings). My Mom always used that saying & I told her that it made no sense until I found the real meaning of that saying. It's just the opposite of what I was told.
Family, traditions, & religion will send many to the wrong places. Just let it go & honestly Be Free ❤❤❤😊🥰

Wow! I never knew that about the 'blood is thicker than water,' and yes, family, traditions and religion has twisted truth since the dawn of man. Thank you for your comment!

You do right to stay away from toxic people, who ever they may be. I've had to do the same. Real blood relationship is created by love. You already understand that, Kevin.. by what you do and say. ;o)
