You did awesome for your first race in elite. It's a tough ask mentaly. It would have been interesting seeing you in u23. But I get why you moved up. And the W in the LCQ was legit. Sick to see you ride irl!
Great POV footage! Really shows the speed of the top guys. I can see why some suggest doing U23 but man, this experience is priceless. Good luck in Brisbane!!🤘
Hey Drew! I saw you, Joey Leto, and James Williams at the back of you pickup truck in Rotorua. Than you for the tips on racing you gave me! I go you had a great stay in nz!!!!
Thank you for making and for sharing the video. It's all a big slow mannered learning curve. Get all tht you can from every second of the experience(s). Good luck with your training and with all of you upcoing races.
First off, i have to say, drew love your attitude and riding style. Now Take this with a grain of salt, what I normally try to talk to my guys about is, that 2nd pedal. Snap the gate on the first pedal, but that 2nd pedal, put everything into it. In my mind that 2nd pedal can make or break the race. Seems the snap is excellent but they seem to pass you around that 2nd pedal mark. You've got it. You'll make great waves in that elite class, keep up the hard dedicated work and never lose that attitude.
Thank you! Realistically, every pedal stroke is extremely important. Racing the Elite level, it’s tough to beat the top guys in the world. But I know exactly what you mean, thank you!
I used to wear a Whoop on my left wrist, so when I started wearing a watch I put it on the other wrist. I no longer wear a Whoop and my watch is more comfortable on my right wrist.
This is no offense but as a pro bud you need spare parts and tools I don’t care where the travel is if you wanna be competitive you need them little reminders. Keep pushing you will work out the bugs
I have an entire spare bike and I even had a replacement bottom bracket. I got it fixed as soon as I had a chance to fix it. It didn’t stop me from anything.
Damn 5 race laps ?? 😂 thats it😂 travel all the way across the world for a big World Cup race and do five laps😂😂 this hobby is so funny. This is not a jab to you, you kill it as a racer. This is a jab to this joke of a professional hobby sport.
It’s rough haha. That’s why I try to make the most out of every trip and ride/practice as much as I can besides the race. The experience on each trip is limited, so I try to maximize it.
loved that dive in the third turn

Thank you! I did 2 years in U23, so it’s time to give Elite a shot. I appreciate it 👊

Good work-study, Drew. We need a good tradesman in those turns, cheers...
Thank you! I plan to keep making those moves

It’s rough haha
thanks for making this
Love the videos
Thank you 🙌
What is the timer thing you used in your training video.the one the when you ride through it it starts.
They are timers, there are many different brands but I have the Prostart Timers and Brower Timers
why have you got your watch on the wrong wrist?
I used to wear a Whoop on my left wrist, so when I started wearing a watch I put it on the other wrist. I no longer wear a Whoop and my watch is more comfortable on my right wrist.
How do you pay for your trips, do you have sponsors?
Thankfully I have some amazing sponsors who have helped me out this year. However, it’s still very expensive and the rest comes out of pocket.
@@DrewPolkBMXgreat, you are doing a good job, keep training hard for the next races.
No hate but why don’t you ride in the under 23 class?
I explain it at 1:13 in the video
You should try mountain biking
Drew do u have a job outside of bmx
Yes I do! I talk about it in my Day in the Life video I posted a few videos ago
