Assign Decoy is honestly a much bigger deal than you'd expect because now Soren can be part of a Duo/Harmonic and even has his odds of being a Legendary to spread this effect skyrocket.
Its extremely nice on Alear because Soren really likes the Charge effect he gets from them, IMO they're the number 1 choice because they stack insane amounts of DR that is rarely ever pierced by a 1 range unit. W!Altina with NCD4 is pretty nice against the countless amounts of Windsweep and DR on first hit effects that lots of melee initiators have nowadays.
I like to imagine whenever Soren's Decoy makes an ally tank a hit meant for him, that he's just shoving that person in front of the attack. Fits his personality.
Assign Decoy opens up a new layer of possibilities for savior tanking and I’m glad this guide is helpful for what kinds of builds can be made for this.
My main use for brave soren will be a 5* training bot, have him give savior to a physical unit, have them camp and reap them levels. The only reason for this is because i’m not an aether raids guy, maybe i’ll bring him along for arena when he’s the arena bonus unit or during legendary/mythic hero battles.
S!M!Shez really is that one unit who will keep aging better the more new skills fliers have access to huh, from Guidance 4 to Guard Bearing 4 to Soaring Guidance to Flow Desperation to Gambit 4, he just keeps on winning lol
Now that I think about it; Brave Robin can fit on any team you want! Brave Gullveig with her galeforce shenanigans (With Soren's support). Brave Corrin to stack up damage reduction specials and so on.
I use Hugh as a far save for now because his weapon does give a lot of stat, +7 for free and bonus doubler, since Soren also give +6 in every stat when giving "Assign decoy" his weapon give him 6 more stat. It would work really more if I had a Ellywood or guard 4 but I don't have a lot of option so I do with what I have
one of the coolest things is that i've been using brave corrin as a far save and make my brave dimitri a near save in summoner duels.. throw flayn in there for good measure for % dmg reduction + healing on top of brave corrin's stone terrain and everything lmao. brave soren is a lot of fun to use.
I've been using NY!Ash since mine is max investment with Soren and so far she's been doing very well as a near savior. I noticed she wasn't on the list (and to be fair you can only put so many units on the lists), but what do you think of her as a near savior with him? I've been running her PRF, Atk/Def finish 4, Beast Follow-Up, PRF C skill, and Atk/def form or Steady Breath as her seal depending on the game mode. Her brave effect on EP on her PRF gives her a lot of firepower and she deals with most strong red units well.
Worth noting, for those who haven't tested, the defense check portion of Soren's assign decoy (The part that kicks in when he doesn't have a support partner) works like L!Eli/Y!Eli buffs not B!Marianne's special dance meaning if you intentionally build your team to have a range1 unit and a range 2 unit tie for the highest defense in his range he will grant it to both effectively giving you a free near save and far save in all content. Also noteworthy, since it wasn't mentioned in the video, your normal save armors are also good targets for this (assuming they match the correct range type for the save they want) because you can simply replace their c slot save skill with something else of value. There aren't a lot of options atm but I think swapping to the most appropriate smoke 4 skill based on the type of tank works really well.
also a particularly funny idea that may not be very practical but certainly tickles my funny bone is B!Chrom, L!Chrom, B!Soren, Askr, L!Eli. At max dragon flowers, neutral nature, L!Chrom has 3 more attack and 1 more def than B!Chrom which can be fairly easily matched with a little work, meaning near save B!Chrom, far save L!Chrom both of whom would be stat balling with a minimum of 6 non-stat bonuses (3 from L!Eli, 2 from Askr, and B!Soren's assign decoy) which could be further increased by running inf. nfu on B!Soren, Atk/Spd Hexblade and spd smoke 4 on L!Chrom, and Panic smoke 4 on B!Chrom on allowing for 10 total non-stat bonuses on both Chroms as long as B!Chrom gets to copy from L!Chrom. Otherwise L!Chrom would have 10 and B!Chrom would have 8.
Assign Decoy on two different units with the same Def is really strong. It was an issue for me in the Chain Challenges that Robin and Cyril protected eachother from being attacked by a unit that they couldn't counter. Hardy Bearing is gonna be super strong in this meta as long as you have a kit to one shot or survive a one shot. Really hope we get a way for units to cleanse visible effects like Grand Strategy and Rally Spectrum, and cleanse field effects to boot. The fact we already need a counter to this due to how strong it is sad. Not many effects exist to prevent Savior already beyond Feud and Embla, but they're too limited and restrictive to really call them straight up counters. Now we have these field effects...
This was a bit painful, indeed, I remember having to try so hard to split them for that effect to not bother me anymore. At least against AI it's manageable like that though, but against a human moving the units it'll be a lot more difficult to handle.

You can definitely do that! If you plan to do that, I recommend ditching his B slot for something that grants a lot of DR so he can have more survivability (e.g. Dodge 4 or Gambit 4)
So does Soren with assign decoy get around the one save rule requirements on chaos season or summoner duels? Like have a far save armor on team and let Soren assign a near save with his weapon and pretty much allow you to bring in both save types when you're normally not supposed to be allowed to?
While Citrinne giving your entire team Decoy isnt good, I do think theres a way to have citrine spread status to several units and not cause problems. Soren only spreads it to Citrinne, who needs to be near units to spread the effect. Summoner duels, spreading Savior may still be useful. I dunno, but there theres room to spread out and not have saviors overlap
Are there any videos/lists in this format for units that donate keyword skills? Specifically for Citrinne to regift. I know of Alear/Velouria spreading and Tactics on a cavalier to give the NFU back... But I always feel like I'm missing some obscure unit or another.

In my experience, legendary seliph is an great option, same with alear, seliph because of his stupid damage output plus healing and alear because they also give soren charge and most 1 range units cannot DR piece. Diamant also seems strong with it too be honest Brave marth with L!robin support is extremly strong with assign decoy as well
@ZeShado he seems the most Interesting out of the new brave units, I'm gonna spend alot of time testing units with him :) Wouldn't summer edelgard be strong with soren as well? I don't have her so I'm only theorising, she can keep her assault troop if you assign decoy and she has a duel phase brave effect and ridiculous damage output. She might need something like pavise though, maybe Hardy fighter though I feel you probably shouldn't get rid of raging storm though.

Your video says preemt doensn't work with savior but I saw a post on reddit where somebody used a spd preempt legendary alm as a far saver with assign decoy

That's the only recent one I can find about L!Alm, except the team doesn't have Soren so he's not used for Far Saving, his SPD Preempt is used normally in combat. And for having tested SPD Preempt by myself in Aether Raid, it indeed doesn't seem to trigger with Assign Decoy.
Honestly. I think with citrine and assign decoy could work out if you play your hands right. It allows you to play smart and not just Willy nilly out it on a team like that. I think we the right strategy it could work in the end

Can you grant Assign Decoy to a 1-Rng and 2-Rng unit by DEF matching them? If that is possible, does that mean that Soren gets both save effects?
Update: You can, by Def matching Diamant and Ninja Laegjarn, you can get a very good team going

It’s definitely possible but it’ll probably depend where you deploy her. Any map where you don’t have a lot of room could make it tricky for example
