I have had both Flatpak (native) and Snap (added) on my 4 Mint gaming computers. It was very easy to add Snap with only a couple of config file changes (detailed are on the Mint help pages).
I installed Snap for its support for the old C&C Generals games. However, the way snap works complicates the file system mounts list you get when typing "mount", so I will be avoiding adding Snap in future.

I have three PC's running in my house. One with Windows 11, one with Linux Mint Cinnamon, and the third originally with Mint Cinnamon. But on that third one (Beekink SER5 Pro mini PC), all sound disappeared every 3-4 days. Mint would just forget the PC had sound. Rebooting brought sound back, but in 3-4 days the sound would disappear again. I installed pulse audio, updated to newer kernels, nothing worked. I have NOT had that problem with Ubuntu Cinnamon. So now I have both Cinnamons in the house.

Ubuntu cinnamon is a better option for a touch laptops, they integrate better with proprietary software, Ubuntu never fails any installation out of the box, i am always looking an alternative to gnome 3, and finally we have one that stood over the test of time where Ubuntu recognized the need for a Cinnamon. this move sure will draw many to explore more into the world of Linux Mint. and recently on the other hand i found that Ubuntu Unity is more modern and quite similar to cinnamon. Anyways i am planning to explore more about mint i personally fell that cinnamon is the best option available after exploring alternative Desktop Environments. Linux fits every pocket. and this video is very informative.

My very simplistic view of the two-Cinnamon Ubuntu is prettier looking but Mint is more reliable and less intrusive with telemetry.

I like your thoughts on this. I also did a video not too long ago covering this same comparison.

Imho Ubuntu wanted to be the easier to use Debian. LMDE Cinnamon is the much better Alternative instead Ubuntu i think.

Yep, Linux Mint is better because you don't have to deal with all the bad stuff from Canonical.

It's time to make Linux Mint Debian Edition the default version. Ubuntu is completely lost at this point and Ubuntu based distros will just not be the future.

As a beginner, to get as close to Debian, i'll always go for either LMDE (ui & ux) or Peppermint (lightweight)

@@hotpotcookie Or you can use MX Linux if you don't want Systemd.

Linux Mint = Ubuntu without the BS from Canonical
Ubuntu Cinnamon = Ubuntu with all the BS from Canonical

It's just preference, for example Snap's (Ubuntu) can be more desirable as there is a significant wider library of applications available compared to Flatpak and some people might prefer a more up to date range of base O/S and packages.
