    Bill Blakemore, FTW. idk you, idk your politics but I want to THANK YOU for turning up the heat at 46:49 AND 40:44. I may be erroneous in my conviction but it sounds like the panel was trying to deflect. That was brilliant and a completely reasonable inquiry. Honestly, if their work keeps going in the same trajectory it is then the answer is YES.

    This explains the personality disorders of a people who were formerly enslaved and are presently oppressed. It also explains the personality disorders of those who would treat people as property. Sufferers and sociopaths.

    If even some small amount of health (physical and mental) depends on maternal care at early age, consider the damage we have been doing to our descendants by denying maternity leave...
    Another cost that is externalized by businesses, borne by society instead of borne by the business itself.

    There comes a time we'll have quality of life described based in the happiness of our mothers in the pregnant. And our longevity determined by our ability to become far from distress in our lives. Epigenetics points that "no pressure is reasonable" in terms of aggression and their immediate implication on healthy lives and over our descendants.

    When it comes to genetics, the contribution from both parents are equal, regardless of the vessel by which the embryo is housed and constructed. Just because the "female" is the medium by which the embryo is housed and constructed doesn't mean that the male contribution, genetically, is any less than the female.

    great panel, but quite uncomfortable that of the things we could potentially change with a pill sexuality got brought up. There is nothing wrong with having different sexualities, making it unnecessary and slightly offtopic and is hurtful. It also brings our the concern for the extent of using this technology when essentially someone gets on stage at the world science fair and asks if it could be used as conversion therapy. I do appreciate the response quickly addressing it and refocusing on the topic.

    The joke about the "male" not participating at all is not funny coming from such social influences as the qualifications of the panel representing their fields of study because it has massive social ramifications and is placating a currently incorrect social stigmata of the male not representing any influence on the offspring other than the sexual contribution. The video explained that the genome as well as the epigenome from BOTH contributors effectively contributed to the biological influences as well, obviously, the social influences over time of a certain individual so the joke about the male contributions is just a social regurgitation and a failure of the current males in our society, especially the ones whom know better, to allow such factious insinuations to permeate our intellectual culture. I'm absolutely embarrassed in reference to the minimization of males in our current culture to defend themselves. The female is not to me minimalized, but to be mininalized by the other is to be influenced by negative aspects of our social culture and to ignore completely the scientifically proven contribution of the male species.

    What these people are talking about has been figured out by Weston Price some hundred years ago: If the mother eats healthy you get healthy offspring. What this society has forgotten is the idea that women make babies. Women in our society don't make babies they have careers because they are equal to man. But then suddenly "oh uhm I am pregnant....How did that happen?..." How many women have stress and/or don't eat healthy when they are pregnant? Probably most of them.

      We are all slaves of a system where if you don’t perform, that system will take away all possible joy in this one life. The good thing about epigenetics is that you can change your thought process and your children will benefit from it. If you manage to perform somehow, in this system, you will escape slavery and make it easier for your children by the same token. I was born a slave and the smarter and harder i work, the better chance i have of liberation. Lets look foreward and all the best to you.

    This talk is bordering on being disconcerting. Research scientists who have and who do offer meaningful arguments against a number of the epigeneticist's claims are not present. Talks like this one-sided talk take away from the much needed discourse. It impedes me as well as viewers who are equally as curious from getting a better handle on what is known and what are speculative pronouncements.

      @@paxdriver He seemed pretty intent on bringing divisiveness and outdated mentalities into modern science that simply does not recognize them. He brushed over when their chuckling at his commentary without realizing how behind his points were. Lawsuits against ancestors? Sexual preference predisposition? In group out group psychology from the 1800's that focuses on physical might and aggression as relevant to group dynamics? I haven't seen anything about that in years.

    • @DistractingTest
      @DistractingTest 3 роки тому +1

      He is good at his job, but from a different generation and time that the scientists even of his time and regular folks of this age already know that aggression is not innate, but ineffective to its goals, nor preselected but often a symptom of their situation. Tribal group theory is no longer even possible in a global, interconnected society without painfully backwards thinking that requires writing off the very groups we evolved to work with, not destroy in mutually assured destruction (MAD) especially now that we know that trauma is far too high a cost to continue war, not something to punish (creating additional trauma) but something to prevent permanently and correct where it occurred until we learn ever better ways.

    • @DistractingTest
      @DistractingTest 3 роки тому +1

      If anything, it is a testament to how much we have changed so quickly. Back then, violence might have been used in schools and advocation for war was common, so social science would always point to it as important where in a world where we now know physical or psychological punishments cause rebellion and secrecy, not a correction of behavior but if anything resentment and stagnation if not separation. Sexual preference has been around as long as humanity, but perhaps an overly prudish early America believed in tradition and isolationism too much and rejected simple biology in favor of limited heterogamy of the era. We now know better than to limit people and love for no reason, especially considering the harm that caused with no benefits. What will our descendants possibly learn to overturn our beliefs and traditions of today? Will we stop putting people in boxes assuming it fixes them? Will we ensure food, shelter and clothing to all humans so that basic human needs become basic human rights?
      Yes, and the sooner the better off everyone will be. Perhaps then we can get back to divisiveness and infighting (self sabotage) but I think by then we'd have found some fascinating alternatives. If we must fight then let us fight for a better world, not against each other in pursuit of a smaller one. A house divided cannot stand, and we know better.
