Demise of this Whitetail Buck's Drop Tine | Trail Cam Video

- I was always hopeful it might not happen, but in my heart I knew it would. The whitetail buck I named 'Kickstand' has lost his drop tine antler this week. I first noticed that it was damaged on July 22. A week later, and it looked crimson in colour, most likely ruptured. A few days ago he showed up and the drop tine is gone.
This was my first ever buck on video sporting a drop tine and I was really looking forward to seeing his antler in a few weeks time free of velvet.
He does have a very cool kicker tine off the same side - and one heck of a rack - so it will still be a great fall rut following this impressive deer.
How he damaged it is anyone's guess. Most likely a collision with a tree. Fingers crossed he grows another one next season.

👍..That's probably a huge relief for him..and now that it's gone, it should heal over and be just fine.
Amazing captures of the drop tine status.
Wow, I’ve never seen anything like it. Interesting
That’s one amazing Buck you got captures of my friend
He showed up tonight velvet-free 😊
That’s a shame the drop time is gone, it’s an amazing sticker point he has though. Hopefully he won’t break it off. Tks so much for sharing this with us!!
He showed up tonight velvet-free! Kicker looks great. Beauty of a buck. Shame about that drop though. Sigh.
