Why does nobody (except my family!) sing these hymns anymore? They are magnificent in their power and the tunes are very fitting - as this one by Sullivan . Its what my family call an "open the windows, turn the volume up and let the neighbours enjoy it too" hymn! Many thanks again. God bless you.
Antifogasta I'm an atheist now but this takes me back to my Methodist upbringing and those same emotions wash over me. Contrast this with the clunking, tuneless so-called worship songs so prevalent nowadays.
I'm so sorry that you have lost your faith.I know that we all go through periods like this - I have too. But may I encourage you to keep searching? In the very darkest corners of my life, when I have been looking death straight in the face, I asked for strength to be brave and I received so much grace it was overwhelming. Interestingly, all of the medical people were aware of it too - they said quite openly "never met anybody as positive as you!" I mention this not because it shows any strength in me but it shows the strength I received from Him.etc. All good wishes and keep singing the hymns; I shall be singing with you. (PS I hop that you don't find my comment upsetting or offensive - it is well meant)
