You make NYC look appealing warts and all. But I like the way you show the art without the shaking of the camera.

Thanks for posting, it's always a treat for me to go back in time to the 60's when I was an art student at Queens college and I would go into Manhattan to visit the art galleries. I particularly like Quentin James McCaffrey's work. They remind of of Vermeer and the paintings with the small round mirrors remind me of "The Marriage of Arnol Fini" which is one of my favorite painting. I was surprising he painted on canvas. Usually when I see detail that fine it's on gessoed Masonite.

I agree with you , there is a lot of hyperealism out there . I've already gone through my photorealism period decades ago and the work I'm doing now is more loose and painterly . More esoteric and symbolic but still experimental as well. The work in this video is very nice and I've been to a lot of these galleries in tribeca and Soho as I live in this area. I really love going to all the different galleries, walking from one to the next and reading the different art magazines . It keeps me inspired and there is so much work here in lower Manhattan to be inspired by.
Thank you for a great video. ✨🙂👌

This gallery walkabout was delightful to my eyes. Thank you for this chance to explore places I can’t visit at this time. As always your voice is like a caressing sound to my ears😊

I swear that Mary is my favorite part of contemporary and modern art, she's the only thing that doesn't hurt my eyeballs in those galleries with glaring white walls and a few dinky low effort paintings - when something with a little talent appears she lights up!

The Quentin McCaffrey… are so intriguing… and fresh I find. I s that what you found in person? They are dark color tone in video but seem to have a lightheartedness.

4:07 (Anthony Iocono) 'these new, intricate painted collages, tell a story of his experiences bird watching'?
12:53 (Henry Gunderson) a discernible reference to the Zabriskie Point explosion scene.

The artist as unique individual is just so pretentious and boring. The continual psychological profiling of artists is an extension of our own narcissism and a justification of it.

@@stuartwray6175 I'm not angry. Why would I be angry? It sounds like you're HURT by my objective criticism. All the colors are HORRID, there is no integration of colors, composition is HORRIBLE. I saw one painting that showed the artist clearly had no conception at all regarding how to treat lighting. If this is the state of contemporary art.......
I actually have two friends who studied painting at Yale. One got an undergrad degree in painting there, and then got a grad degree elsewhere. He teaches painting at a very good university. The other got a masters in painting at Yale. They both told me that art schools today don't teach anything about classical principles of geometry and relation to the frame. They themselves knew nothing about this. Yet this is one of the things that defines the work of masters like Picasso and Dali. It's horrible.
