Is there also a trick to eliminate all versions except the "chosen one" in the end?
Great video with a super helpful tip. My only critique is that the title of the video implies that there is a trick to specifically address how to nail contrast, when in fact the trick is to compare grade versions. While that can certainly be helpful for dialing in the contrast, it's not an objective measure to "nail contrast".
exactly. very useful video, but on a different topic than the title
I couldn't find the name of the keyboard shortcut for "Create New Version", it's actually filed as "Add" and on a mac it's Command+Y by default
@Paige Saunders , thanks for the tip
This "simple" trick is the best one I've learned about Resolve in a long while! Thanks 💜
Wow. Just wow. I already did this but I always just stopped at 2 versions. Now I have a license to go as far as I need to.
Amazing tip! Working on underwater footage can be quite confusing, this will help a lot! Thanks
Your videos are a wealth of information sir. I love how you share keyboard shortcuts and features that we rarely touch but make the process faster. Thank you!
Just beautiful! I have used versions for ages but this opened a whole new workflow that just makes it so much faster. Again, your channel is pure gold, please keep it coming! I thank you, again!!!
somewhere I read or saw a tutorial that the best way to adjust the exposure and contrast is with the image in black and white. What's more, there are colorization monitors with the black and white function for these purposes. And that's how I do it ever since with excellent results.
That was a real gem! I've been adding nodes for each change and toggling them (disable / enable) but that only gives me an A/B comparison. The tiled view is a real game changer! Thank you for making this
Appreciate your clear, concise, structured thinking and instruction. Very helpful.
Always incredible tips...this is sooo useful for many reasons not just contrast.. you name it versions of NR, Sharping, etc.. simple easy to do. Helps move the work flow along.. Thanks as always..
Thank you so much sir 😊😊Very helpful video 🙏
The double click on the thumbnail text trick!!! YES! I use versions all the time and that definitely helps keep track of stuff.
THIS! Thank you for explaining this. I'm not a complete beginner but I'm still very new to professional colour correction and grading. This will really help me not "undo-ing" 10 times to get back to where I was happy with what I've done, and losing time recolouring some scenes.
clear, concise and very helpful for workflow. Thank you!
Having a continued reference is smart. I like it!
You are incredible! Subbed and grateful for you sharing your knowledge ! Happy Holidays!
Something so small has potential to be a huge time saver. Thanks
I love it!
Informative as usual!
What I'd love to see is a guide based on highlights and skin tone exposures (where should they sit) based on interior and exterior and high key and low key examples ❤️❤️
Love it! Very helpful today!
Good one Alex. Thanks. And thanks again for your great course. I peruse it to review every so often.
Very helpful. Thank you
Perfect! Thanks for this tip.
I have editing with Final Cut for quite some time. This winter I’ve taken on the task of learning Davinci. Your videos have been so helpful!
It's useful. Thank You.
From beginning, i couldn't catch it but now when I realized, it is quuuuite a good trick.

Awesomeee! Thank you!
Thank you 💪🏾
Good stuff
I would love a video on "what is pivot doing exactly "
Aaand I just realized you were the narrator on the Film simplified video that dates from 2015. Update it so it's with your nice mellow well recorded voice ?
Aaah nevermind, love what you do !
Amazing , thank you sir
Awesome video.
Thank you
helpful, thanks
THANK YOU SIR
How do you add a color version from one clip to a separate clip? So I have 2 different clips with different color versions. If I want to save the versions on both clips that are different, when I select one of the clips and then right click on the other clip and choose Apply Grade, I can see from the wave form of the 2 clips that the version 3 from the first clip did not transfer to the second clip. It still says version 2.
Can you transfer one version from a clip to a different clip that also has different versions?
I've been using gallery stills to monitor progression since you can just mouse over the stills to see the changes but the version method does seem better. I'll have to try it out. Is there a way to batch render clips of multiple versions such as for different deliverables? (Rec 709 + Rec 2020 for example) Thanks.
Hi @learn color grading , how do i save the full res of the new version into jpeg or png after all the edit i done.
Super!!
I found it earth shattering.
I would love a series of how to transition from Adobe to Resolve. The timeline in resolve is so confusing to me.
Interesting. Definitely made that mistake before a time or two. 👍👍😎
THANKS pls add timeline to your videos
HI, I NEED AN ADVICE, I'm trying to understand for 2 years, what is right contrast, don't know when I need to lift or down lift/gamma/gain. Generally I know what they does, but when I start to color grade, I can't choose right version of my graiding, all the time it seems I do something wrong. For example, when I lift shadows, the image looks not contrasty, when I down lifts, looks videoish, can't understand why we need to down gamma sometimes, because when I do that, I get very unbalanced image.
I cannot figure out how to create a keyboard shortcut for create a new version. I don't find anything that works.
Very cool and helpful trick. I usually have to walk away for a while and come back and the colors look completely different.
No trick will help with this, professionals do it all the time. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you after staring at the same image for awhile, so it’s smart to take a break and come back to it before finalizing any adjustments.
How do you go to full screen mode?
❤️❤️❤️
You didn't say how to go into cinema mode. Please explain. Thank you

Version 4 was better
Super helpful videos! Thank you. You tend to end them abruptly and I can't 'like' the vid.
