Love the channel but as a Toyota 4x4 nerd I caution against towing in reverse like that for more serious recoveries. I get that all this dude needed was a light tug to get moving but just in case anyone tried the same method for a heavier duty pull, that could be a really expensive decision out in the middle of nowhere. Differentials and transmissions really don't like being loaded in reverse and you can easily break teeth off of diff rings. My uncle gently towed one guy in reverse and completely screwed his nearly new rear diff - Chevy techs looked at it and knew instantly that he had towed in reverse - NO WARRANTY COVERAGE. Even if travelling alone, just have a couple sandbags for extra weight and you can spread sand on sheet ice to get out of a pickle even without a second vehicle, winch, kinetic rope, straps, etc. Take care out there folks.
@@markyzrmb You're right on that aspect too - on my Tacoma, the factory thing that many people try to do recoveries with are only rated as a tie down once you are on a flatbed. Heavy pulls need heavier connection points. Either way, pulling in reverse is asking for trouble.

Was recently going back and forth between the ideal nymph and the contact 2. Settled my mind on the contact 2. Now I'm all messed up again. Can't wait until people have them in hand and we get full reviews of the gen 4. Thank you guys for giving us a heads up that they are coming.
Contact II is great. So is the Hardly Ultralite LL series. Same with the Orvis 4F 3 weight. I'm fortunate have fished all of them except the ideal nymph. Choosing from this abundance of options is a good problem to have, but a challenge nonetheless.
@austinweaver3193 Thanks for the reply. I don't have any friends who use euro equipment. I fish smaller freestones mostly (25-35 ft) and only one nymph because of depth. (14-20). Been getting by with a 9ft 5wt classic trout, so I'm sure everything will feel fantastic.
@@chrishenslick5482 I love that kind of river. You'll enjoy tight lining much more with one of these rods. At the beginning, I was tight lining with my 8'5" rod. It's manageable, but not nearly as enjoyable as my 10'6-11'2 rods. But I'm almost exclusively tight lining now, with some suspension nymphing added in for reach. I cannot recall the last time I had any actual fly line out of my rod tip. So while I rarely use anything less than 10'6 length, a 10' has a lot of crossover appeal.
Still haven’t made the room in my quiver for the Euro style rods yet. In regards to those big flies with the 3/16” heads….. been using those on the Truckee for years. Don’t need a Euro rod to barf those out in the current. Also always carry a chain or similar for the stuck.
I’ve haven’t fished the guideline, but I don’t hear much about them. Likely another rod company sourcing rods from China. I have fished a few models of the vision nymphmaniac. They are nice, but do not compare to the Diamondback options that are easier to get (in the USA), easier to use warranty, and better designed (imo). Also, other USA based companies make great options closer to home.

So is Joe using one of the new 3wts in this video for the jig streamers he showed? I’m thinking of getting the 10ft7 3wt for my jig steamer and nymphing needs on larger water
The number of softies crying in the comments over the jig heads is hilarious 😂. Throw a pyramid weight on the leader next time and heat up the popcorn!
@ I’m not even talking about euro nymphing here. Two hand stripping a jig head is not euro nymphing haha. That being said, yes the water looks very nice. I froze my ass off in 14 degree winds wading all day today, so this looks like a dream!
That was my first thought when I saw those big jig heads . Be a whole lot easier to use a light action steelhead spinning rod ! I agree that’s not fly fishing .

The best place in the world to buy rods, reel, tying equip, etc. is estate sales, garage sales, ebay, facebook marketplace for pennies on the dollar. Or, you could build a simple rod jig, buy threads, epoxy and get a slow rotisserie for epoxy drying and build your own rods from blanks from all the makers until you're overrun with rods Or you can spend $800 - $1000 on a $50 stick of graphite, cork and guides.
If you think you can make a $800-1000 rod for $50 in your garage, you are delusional. High end rods have turned the graphite, measured in thousandths of an inch. You’d have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on machines to achieve the same thing. The blanks you buy on ebay or dhgate or rainshadow or whatever are nothing like what you get with a $1000 Winston/Sage/Orvis/etc
@@cheechwizard6541 A basic rod blank, without the reel seat, cork, guides, is worth about $50, maybe $100. Add in the seat, cork, guides its about $200. Spend some free time like ya do tying flies, finding the spine, wrap and glue the guides, cork handle and reel seat, roll it on a slow rotisserie and you have a brand new, "high end" fly rod. Maybe by the time all is said and done, $400 on the outside. And you get the satisfaction of yet another fishing skill while achieving 99% of a manufactured factory rod. Does this rod accept my bait caster reel foot?

AS THE RODS BECOME AVAILABLE YOU CAN BUY ONE WHERE GUYS.......
Well considering these guys own two fly shops and a major online store I would guess they would prefer that you buy it from them
3/16oz flies are the lightest! Sorry those aren't flies, they're lead head jigs. Plain and simple, thats not fly fishing.

So, no free T-shirt😢

Geez, if you're really having to throw a 1/4 oz jig at them, then just use conventional gear ffs

Hmmm sorry but that's spin-fishing. You're just playing the fish with a fly rod
