I found a version with no drums on youtube, so I have no ad-lib Lars fills to follow! This was fun but also kinda challenging because I'm used to having drums to fall back on for a monitor. So here it is, a free-ball version of Puppets! I hope you enjoy my Lars impersonation at the end.

Thanks for findin me!
Can you tell how you upload metallica song without youtube taking it down? Or is it just metallica that allows that?
Key word is "cover"
Try that way
@@vfam825 it's fair use
V Fam There's a site I know that's called we are the hits the website is wearethehits.com , from there you can search a song and then log in with your UA-cam account, that way your Video doesn't get striked, the site isn't even in google, they really don't want you to upload covers, but checkmate my friend. One thing to note is that there is by far not every song, so you would have to pay for some songs.
Not problem brother
6:49 holy fuq
dedik8SKB holy shet
dedik8SKB got damm
wat
+dedik8SKB Fresh blood in "MoP" ;)))
+dedik8SKB Dear god
7:19 is my favorite part
My too (date)
6:49 holy double bass
every drummer with two feet can do that
Жан Агъырджанокъуэ how the fuck are you going to do any type of double bass at all with one foot (other than the bitch pedal that allows double bass with one pedal), it doesn’t matter how long you’ve played for that’s just stupid.
Max Bueno that fill requires 2 bass drum hits
Plenty of drummers could do that with one foot
1 double and it’s done
Legit so many drummers it’s not hard
And u also just don’t know what ur on about mate
Music 504 It’s not that easy. Double bass playing take time and skill.
Jordan Diehl yeah it does take skill this isn’t constant double bass or even patterns this is hand and foot patterns
For most drummers MOST drummers
This is easy
Master of drummer
Gibzen Master Of Drums
Drummer of puppets
This may sound stupid but would you ever consider uploading bloopers? To show what it takes to get it right.
ikr I have messed up these fills so many times
As a guitarist learning drums all I can fucking hear is guitars!!! lol But this helps :)
Metalman And as drummer everytime I listen songs I always concentrate on the drums only 😄😄
Samshu struggles of think i want to learn the vocals guitar and bass to this song
Why did i have to buy a bass and guitar along with liking to try and do the vocals
I dont want to buy a drum set but god do I
koosh this is why you learn songs from justice because there is no base in them
6:24 kicks sync with riff...I'm done! thats awesome my friend, good job!
Also looks like he's using one foot for most of it. Lars definitely doesn't do this.
yeah that's awesome!
@@chaykuh I think it's because he's not moving his feet very much... even John Bonham couldn't do that much on one foot!
@@thexdude John Bonham absolutely could do that with one foot, have you seen the tab for Good Times Bad Times near the end? John Bonham mastered his right foot for the drums.
@@kylester0055 Ah... my bad.
6:13 - 6:43 best part :)
That cymbal choke at 0:49 was smooth af
That snare is crisp asf.
You should play drums for Metallica. Seriosly man, you bring the drumming to another level, you got the groove, the feeling for rhytm, everything. Perfect.
Thanks
+CobeOfficial i totally agree with you cobe
+CobeOfficial are you kidding me they would never replace Lars you obviously don't know how much of a bond this band has :/
yeah dude you really do
They should keep Lars for the bussiness part in their band, and replace him just for the drumming part. I can't take it any more, it's so stupid..
Probably my favorite drum cover of all time, you're not showing off like most UA-cam drummers, I am attached to your playing, your ability to play is awesome, technique is great too. I see potential in you, you killed it with this song! I like your stuff!! Keep it up man!!! Also I'm trying to learn this song so i searched for a drum cover, and I came to the right place. Thanks a lot!!! You've really helped me understand this song!!!
+Hugh Mungus great!
While I cannot deny this is a fantastic cover the "showing off" is them doing it for that pure purpose, anyone with enough time can learn cool stick tricks and fills and how to implement them, they do it for fun, even when I play, I add in stick tricks because its just fun to add in, its not always to just show off.
Yeah I guess I was just over exaggerating.
I agree, I actually like it when people throw in a few stick tricks. I don't really care though
What hi-hats do you have?
Just fantastic. Just smile when you do the little extras, like at 6:50. Just awesome!
Man your enthusiasm and your skills, certify you as the shit!!!!!!!!
Thanks
You're welcome. You're a commodity. You'll go far in this lifetime.
Lars and Ulrich disliked this.
He liked the “Larsisms” t shirt so why not this?
Hi, I know this may sound like 4 years later to you, but I don't care:
do you know these two have the same name as the guy who made this drum track?
He has a surname and a first name tho, unlike Lars and Ulrich.
Yes, It is actually even in the same order as Lars and Ulrich travel in!
First name Lars, second/surname Ulrich!!
Get in!!
Lars is his first name Ulrich is his last name...
Its lars Ulrich. And this dude did an awesome job.
I regret my existence seeing how un-humorous the people in the replies in this comment are
this dude's entire channel is fucking awesome.
+IRanee ;)
Dude you're a pro > double kicks timing the lot
Vivian Richards thc
Lars would be proud ! :D
Jealous* ;)
Proud*
Mathieu Fuck you.
Mathieu yep
Lars would be proud.
6:47... I love that part!!!
This is about the fourth or fifth cover for this I have seen. By far the best. Good job.
Thanks
I’ve probably watched this video 100 times dude. Such raw, natural talent. Even being 8 years ago, the audio is fantastic.
That Lars thing at the end ... !
Gracias!
As someone who has been subscribed to Josh ever since he made 240p videos, he was always one of the best drummers on the platform. Despite the video quality being way below subpar, the audio was crisp and his playing was stellar. Fast forward to now with his excellent equipment, he has far excelled past the drummer that I originally subscribed to. What I love about Josh is that he is a perfect mix. He plays songs with respect to the original, yet adds in his own flair to them. However, this is NOT at the expense of the song. Like when he improvises, it is not just random fills all over the place. They usually still fit the song and in many cases, give the riffs an entirely different feel all while still being tasteful. Easily one of the most disciplined drummers on UA-cam. He knows exactly when to add in a little “taste” to the track. Killer stuff.
Thanks!
I can only imagine how incredible it must feel to be able to cover the songs you do. Awesome job!
+gcm747 Thanks!
I don't get why you don't have more subs, you're one of the best drummers on UA-cam. Also it would be better if we could see the bass...
If you look directly under the snare you can kind of see the pedal hitting the bass.
Seth Thomas he meant .. a camera that show him doing double bass..
The most talented on youtube always get over looked by morons and immature narcissists. I've seen it over and over and over.
LykABoss only chicks with big boobs and big drums set are having maximum likes and subs, real talents are overlooked.. such is the situation of UA-cam these days
And they get endorsements galore at that.. wtf..
this was satisfying as fuck.. props to him for playing it exactly like the record.. shits intricate
stop being so goddamn talented
Alex Rooney he is not only talented, he works fucking hard
Nailed it buddy!!! I love the "hmmm... I'm only doing Okay hand at 3:36! NO, YOU ARE KILLING IT!!! Awesome!
Absolutely lost my shit at 6:50
These are now the drums for this song in my head canon.
the double bass man holy shit !.
Magnificent playing! Love the subtle double bass hits peppered in throughout and the fills mixed in with the real ones on the album!
After 6:45 joey jordison is online 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 great job My man...
Man , it's amazing , im just sitting and watching your covers all day long , sorry for my English , i'm from Russia , but you are amazing , continue this!
De los pocos baterías que suben covers y me miro sus vídeos
Nice combo of the double kick
How can it even come thru your mind to dislike this video really? For me hes one of the best if not the best drummer on youtube.. my opinion..
It's fucking great dude... fucking great!!!
In my opinion the best Drum covers on yt
Seriously this kit setup sounded the best
7:25 whatttttt
linus kom till skolan nu sluta vara sjuk hela tiden
Fuuuuuuuck the song is 8 minutes. I might need to rethink learning this. Though if I do it would be amazing.
Also anyone else who drums have any good muting tips. I have tried a lot but none worked like I wanted
+kasey j if you haven't tried this yet. With old drum heads you could draw lines and cut out the rim so there's it's like an outline to put around the drums head and it dampens it. I'm not sure if it was what you meant or not but if it is then yeah aha. Sorry if it doesn't help.
T shirts on drums
Gungamer 2786 Isn't really hard. The hard part is learning the structure but the drumming isn't hard
Just be glad you're not a guitarist :D These downstrokes....
i love on every cover the first thing we hear is one snare hit
The only drummer I will watch on UA-cam. How you’re not in a top charting band is beyond me.
Fucking flawless!!! Bro you should join a band or something, you are a true pro man. Keep it up
That was far the best covert I've seen. Congratulations
+Trev Rocks lml thanks
+Josh Steffen ur welcome Josh, one more suscriber ;)
especially double bass and the sound from the kick..love it
love your spin on this classic track, keep it up!! More videos!!!
Lars: This shouldn't be on tempo...
*Oh...*
Dude don’t hate on lars he created these parts. Without Lars you would not have this cover. Or any Metallica cover. Compare the 2 from when Lars was Josh’s age. Josh is great though.
master of metallican drum cover
Look in the description. I found a way around it and provided a link!
the best drum cover ever I have been seen
07:03 Shear brilliance...!!!!!
Amazing.. The end was the best... hahaha
"HAMMETT: I’ll tell you how the main [descending] riff to “Master of Puppets” came about. On the Ride the Lightning tour, James would always play the riff in the dressing room, but on the D string, and I’d play it simultaneously on the G string as a parallel-fourths harmony line. It sounded really dorky and funny. Then one day at rehearsal, James said, “Let me show you this really heavy song intro,” and proceeded to play that exact riff on the low E string. I said, “Ah, so you finally found a use for that dorky little thing!” It’s anything but dorky now."
"HETFIELD: I remember writing the chorus to "Master of Puppets" in our living room and thinking it was too commercial, too obvious. "If it's too easy, something's wrong." That was kind of the Metallica mantra. Lars said, "No, no, it's really good, It's catchy." I thought, 'Well, maybe I'm the melody, catchy guy, and that's okay'. Cliff was certainly a big part of the [writing] process. Musically, he was so well respected, that we'd often look to him for modulations, or where the next part should come from, or go. He just knew."
"HAMMETT: We were drinking at the Carlson house one night, and Lars turned on the tape deck: "Listen to this, man. Fostex Multitrack Mesa/Boogies with James playing the heaviest riff ever!" It was the main riff to 'Master of Puppets', which had been quadrupled on all four tracks and sounded super heavy. And I knew it immediately as this joke riff that James would always play on the D string. He just dropped it down to the low E string and it was suddenly this whole other thing."
my head is spinning now, after following his drum sticks going around so fast !!! brilliant cover
3:35 "eh it was alright" when Lars himself couldn't play it this good
If I only have one quibble - we can't see the bass drum
Don't worry, it's there.
Eric Ferrier donate on his go fund me www.gofundme.com/av85nw
Thanks bro I need to learn this for tryouts for advanced rock band. Thanks to you I might actually make it
Wow man that's so fucking perfect even with a lil twist between their crazy counts I'm a aspiring drummer and this makes me just wanna get so much better metallica fuck yeAh great
Toca pra cacete!!
I honestly think you are a better LARS ULRICH then Lars Ulrich himself! (what im saying is that kicked ass!)
Thanks
Totally agree
Love the Lars posture
Demonios ! Como es que no puedo encontrar por lo menos un baterista como tu bro !! Vales oro !🤘
Could you play like that for 2 hours or more? Just curious, its harder to play that long than people think.
Yes but tiring
LOVE 6:50
Thanks!
6:50 I think i just shed a tear
just wicked man good job. i love the S&M version of this song
Do more Megadeth songs too, like stuff from Dystopia
Gwyn's Last Knight he has to do more megadeth stuff
Extremly talented I watched all the vids Damage INC was my fav
You're very good drummer and this coming from another drummer, I wish to see more from you as something from your own not a cover
Also it wont harm if you cover The day that never comes with your touch forgotten about Lars
Thanks. On the list. ;)
Thank you brother
Broo! i enjoyed so much play guitar with your drums and your crazy faces hahaha, great job!!!
And the fills and improv during the interlude was badass!
Definitely prefer this over the original
+Xristoforos Stefatos and Josh Steffen fans
He can fill in for Lars because he's getting old
His also fucking shit at drumming. And sounds like he would be the kinda guy to bring leftovers from a pasta dinner for cancer.
+Cally Quinn I guess you don't like Lars much
Lars form Metallica.. no Lars no Metallica
Lars just can't count worth a damn anymore
Well Lars ain't on cocaine anymore he not as hype anymore.
Impeccable timing.
The only video I’ve seen with negative 7 stick flips... I hate show offs so this cover made me happy
you played it better that the actuall drummer!
actual*
lol thats not that hard nowadays xD
+savethe badgers well not against metallica anyway
Been subbed since 2013 and man I'll say this, at least you're not like Coop3r whatever, at least you don't molest your cymbals and play shitty pop tunes and occasionally a metal or alt rock song. Lmao
Best drummer i've seen so far
Damn!!! What a cool skill to have. One of my favorite songs!!!
Classic Metallica songs have great druming, the difference between Lars and other drummers is that he has personality, he adds it to the song, drums is another instrument that builds the song, in other bands maybe drumers are technically better but they dont write the songs or they just wanna follow, dont create. Is like Shawn Drover, he is the worst drummer Megadeth ever had, in the other hand Gar Samuelson was the best, he gave Megadeth even almost a style, something between classic rock and roll and jazzy, bluesy, Nick Menza was just ok.
Wait what the fuck is this I hear? The drums are in time?
All in one take too! wow amazing
Snare sounds great in this one
wow sir,,,, looks like better than lars.....hahaha
Better than Lars!!!
This is the best Master of Puppets cover I've ever heard on drums with a five-piece!! Awesome I like watching other people play it it shows me where I'm at I played that song a hundred times..Rawk!On
Simply amazing as usual Josh! One of the best drummers on UA-cam!
Sheeit those fills are tight af
absolutely smashed it, I'd love to have such skills
Wow, set my first drumkit ever today. Chose this video because your kit seems very organized. Great playing my man
This is tight as fuck. Great job man
you sir , are fucking brilliant
Ottima esecuzione! Penso al genio di Lars a creare ritmi così variegati, continuamente mutevoli. Il groove!
Serious drummer with some tasty fills and funny expressions. You should do a video on some of the fill ideas that you use in your videos. Love your videos, keep it up!
+Dan Finlay check my tutorials playlist. ;)
keep it up dude.. watched a few of the videos today! great job!
Thanks

"HAMMETT: I remember getting home and working religiously to improve my technique. I was still living at my mom's in El Sobrante, but spending quite a bit of time up in Sonoma. Exellent cover, you play fantastic!
you really are incredible, I've seen many of your covers and I like very much, you are very technical and very well adorn the songs with your pedal strokes, you could do a cover of All Nightmare Long?
Thank man! Just watched it, awesome job
