Heres your science for the day. Those ribs do serve a important purpose. Its the same purpose as the ribs on water bottles. As manufacturers want to save materials, you cant compromise strength. Those ribs on water bottles actual provide the strength it needs to be a stable system while saving material. Same with the paper lanterns. They do have wood or metal bands to help as well

My real world paper lanterns have a continuous thin metal spiral held in place by thin layers of paper. Is there a way to model a spiral on the surface of a sphere, please?
Stamping using the move tool is new to me, anyways, 5:44 if we continue this pattern on a full circle and then used push-pull to extrude it a little bit and finally scale up one side we maybe end up with a metal bottle cap (I think 😁), Thanks Aaron,

Color me stupid, but I can't seem to get the move tool to go into stamp mode! I double click option and it reverts back to move, I single click option, I get the stamp symbol but when I move the said item it pastes once?
Odds are against it! Generally, in these videos we look for something that can be shown in under 10 minute. While what you as WOUDL be possible, it would be more work than would make sense for a Skill Builder!

That's a question for your rendering software! SketchUp is a modeling software and does not natively render any lighting other than the sun.
