Very tough as a doctor myself who suffers from health anxiety. “Don’t google” is hard when your brain and medical education is all the google needed to fuel things.

I’m an emt and I totally understand this, I start to scroll through my brain about all the different emergency situations which turns to Google for a better understanding and then going down the hole. Not googling is so tough.

Please don't google your symptoms. I have health anxiety because of googling. I really hope I can recover from it.

I fear inner ear issues, so googling symptoms of that actually gave me dizziness and nausea everyday ALL day long, it’s absolutely crazy how your mind can give you symptoms 😭 ear fullness, off balance feelings, I walk like I’m drunk and get the falling spinning sensations.. Tell me I’m not the only one this happens too 😩

Currently going through this with Tuba Dysfunction and floaters. I was googling about Menières disease and suddenly I felt really dizzy. When I stopped thinking about it and googling that particular topic, I don’t feel dizzy at all!

Ever since I googled about my headache my anxiety level went sky high especially with the brain tumor or brain aneurysm and it all started back in the beginning of August because I was over thinking too much about some small mole I have on my head and ever since that happened I started too overthink too much about it and then it led to my pressure headache and that’s when my goofy self decided to go to google to see my headache problem and that’s when it said “brain tumor” and “brain aneurysm” and ever since I saw that I started to feel the symptoms and my anxiety went up to the point were I kept overthinking every day about it. To this day I still feel my headache and when I press the top of my scalp it hurts a little, little bit dizziness, a little bit of tingling and numbness on my left arm, small twitches on different areas of my body like the eye, arms, legs and abdominal area, and also a little bit of trembling and phantom smells even though I know I got that ever since I got COVID back in October of 2020. I just hope I go back to normal how I was back in June 🙏😔

Years ago I was constantly getting sick like yourself (one thing after another... and it was unusual) but I started taking Zinc Picolinate and I haven't had a cold in 6 years since (I had quite a few symptoms of zinc deficiency that cleared up). I You should maybe try Vitamin D3 (at least 1000-2000 IU) and Zinc 22 mg to see if it helps with your immune system. Allicin Max can be helpful too, especially for stomach bugs and colds. :)

I think I have health anxiety cause I Google nonstop. Can health anxiety cause manifestation of pain? My husband said I’ve read so much that I have created symptoms in my head just from reading about it. My main problem is pain. Is that possible? All tests have come back normal. I’ve been told it’s anxiety.

Absolutely! You create the symptoms in your head and they start manifesting in your body. I used to think I had colon cancer and one of the symptoms can be lower back pain. After reading about that I had such an immense pain in my lower back, I started crying, it was crazy, it hurt so bad. Do you think I ever experienced that again after going to therapy and "healing“ my health anxiety? Absolutely not 🙈 don’t be scared ❤️ I know it’s easier said than done though, obviously :(

I’m guilty of this myself. I’d be worried about something, but once I read a certain symptom, my body would start to hurt or ache in that area AFTER I read about it. So the area was fine before and then once I read about it then it would start tingle/ache/soreness. Brains and anxiety are sneaky!

Hi. I am new here... I have been googling a lot too about my symptoms because i found myself having Rectal Bleeding. I was feeling perfectly fine before but when I started searching my symptoms on Google. Everything in my body just went south. I suddenly felt depressed, I am feeling tiredness, feeling all of the symptoms i searched (mainly bowel / Colorectal Cancer).
I want to escape from this. Can someone help me?

Hi .... That's how health Anxiety works.... Googling is a trap... And yeah even I am in that type... I also had a fear of skin cancer and colon cancer and recently I worry that my eye infection and injury is cancer just because the doctor said they'll do a biopsy of the swallow injured part which just a routine and mostly not any cancer.. so I can relate... Rectal bleeding can be due to many other and benign reasons - stomach infection, fissures, to much pressure while pooping.. better go to the Dr and get it ruled out

Congratulations. Yea I got health anxiety when I went too a ent doctor about some discomfort in my throat . Turns out it was silent reflux . I was told too quit caffiene and just drink water and diet even better then I was . Wow I think the caffiene withdrals caused my health anxiety cause I spent months googling and on Reddit trying too find cure as my symptoms I thought were getting worse lol . When actually they were getting better . I had it for months with physical symptoms of anxiety . I ended up have a endoscopy of stomach . Throat . And even ct scan all fine . Then recently I getting better and then I caught a cold which after 2 months ended up as sinus infection . Then googled the symptoms and I had chronic sinusitis lol . Went doctor gave me antibiotics for 7 days . Started too feel better then I googled the antibiotics and bang bad reviews and reports on Reddit and then I panicked and stopped for 5 days . Illness came back and now I finally realised I have too finish course and do more . It really can drive you insane . X

I recently got a spine X-ray and now I’m a little scared of the radiation I was exposed to.I started googling and apparently the dose I received was about 1.5 msv. According to estimates on cancer risk for this dose I found online, I have about a 1 in 7000 chance of developing cancer.which seems very high for something that was probably unnecessary.I also found that these estimates may be inaccurate since they are based on decades old data from nuclear incidents with high doses of radiation.nobody really knows for certain the cancer risk from such low doses.(I think at least, could be wrong, I only googled for a little bit) I have very mild anxiety over it but I’m not too worried.I will definitely be avoiding x rays and ct scans in the future.(I also had one head ct)

    • @Fifashooting

@@Fifashooting yeah, I guess.it seems even smaller when you increase the scale.a little of a dozen people will get cancer per 100,000.that’s if the 1 in 7000 estimate is accurate.

I don’t know if this helps but my dentist told me that flying with a plane exposes you more to radiation than an x ray. And people fly all the time without even being aware, so it’s not that problematic I think :)
