Here’s an idea, instead of releasing attack dogs, you could release attack bees. So for example, one dispenser spawns a few bees and the other one fires a harming potion to get the bees angry.
I don't think that dogs is a good in a shopping market (I'm a boy btw...) bees are a good idea for a shopping market.

I know this is an older video by now, but Imma say it anyway - the item frames will work if the shelves are carpets rather than trapdoors. I've seen other "supermarket" style builds that do that and it works fine for them. In case anyone was wondering.

A good way to add an actual alarm system is to place the shulker box inside a sort of scanner.
You can add a easy sorting system that looks for an verification item that is added once you pay. If you don't scan it, it's gonna alarm, and if you didn't pay, you're also gonna activate the alarm as there's no verification item. Add a really strange name, and copying it is gonna be near impossible.
And since your paycheck is taken for verification, you can't take it with you without triggering the alarm.
Yes, In the U.S., we have Express checkout, witch has the conveyer an d self checkout witch is like a little scanner and scale. I personally like self checkout better because it goes quicker. Also, we call Trolleys shopping carts

6:00 You could make a working bank in hermitcraft :O item sorter for each of the hermits' cards, once a card has been recognized it switches to a different system (maybe by moving observers with pistons to act as connections for the 2 different circuits, idk not a redstoner) where the hermit can deposit by throwing the diamonds to be picked up by a minecart through the ground or retrieve a few diamonds by clicking on a button, then they click another button or throw in another item to disconnect them and go back to the original circuit. Silly idea, not really practical but it seemed funny with the mailboxes this season. I might try to do this and get back to edit this... hopefully it works hahah
We have them in Bulgaria too. But they work most of the time. So they work when you scan your item it sends a single to it but sometimes it takes time for the signal so that’s why they go on.

Actually, for the conveyor belt to like stop making so much noise, you can put a string at the start with an observer. That will activate the conveyor and then at the end another string turning it off.

The Arizona beverage company is an amazing company. They have stubbornly refused to raise the prices on their tall boy cans, labeling them on the can for 99c. Some stores specifically request the un priced cans so they can hike the prices themselves.

Seriously though, surely just ice with a dropper at one end and a hopper at the other would remove the need for most of the redstone? Items still travel, you could still use the same beep circuit, just without the piston sounds.
And if you want it to look more authentic you can use item frames with solid colour maps to make the ice look more like a conveyor belt

In the store I work for we literally wave people to keep walking if t goes off because it's unreliable.

They do work, but a lot of stores use outdated ones. Older security systems just used certain types of light(infrared being one of them) to see if there was a scannable item in there, and if there was, it would go off. Regardless if the store even sold that item in the first place. A weakness of that system was, that you could simply scratch off the barcode or have something that blocked light well enough for it to not recognise the existance of a barcode and you could steal anything you want. Since all items would normally go through the register and people didnt really go to multiple stores, it was a good working system.
Nowadays, they are updated and have basically 2 versions: a generic one, often used in clothing stores, that uses magnetic sensors that can detect specific magnetic fields of certain magnets, which are rarely sold to the average customer, but every piece of clothing has it(in that large, often white, button) so it rarely goes off, and the one that uses an updated security system that can actually track more specific items. Meaning that all items get scanned before the store stocks them and that the alarm wont go off if the items detected are not actually registered in the store.
And that is a very short and basic explanation that would make any engineer that actually works on these things mad at me, because ofcourse, its a lot more complicated than that. But I think those people should at the very least kinda agree with me that its a decent enough explanation as to why some of those things never work.
Ours work, but only select items have security tags, and it can cause problems if you go through self checkout and forget to take them off. Not an issue though, staff know and don't care hahaha
They're either intimidation and don't work (from experience at dick's sports, my sister stole something) or beep regardless of any factors (from experience at old navy: BEEP BEEP BEEP)

I live in America and yes we have those scanners at the front and usually items over 50 bucks have a special electronic tag and when that tag isn’t deactivated from a cashier then the scanners pick it up and they start firing the alarms

Those are anti theft systems that play alarms installed inside of it, they are activated by RFID tags, there are many company’s that make these anti theft alarms like Sensormatic synergy, checkpoint systems and more.

tip for in a supermarket: make a railway system thats going through the supermarket then make a place where minecart with chests are and make barrels with stuff around the railways. the minecart with chests are shopping carts and people can push them through the supermarket. if they arrive at the cashier place make a railway that lets the minecarts go behind it then the cashiers takes out stuff and gives it to the player and the player pays. then make a button that sends the shopping carts back to the minecart place
