Well, since a year I started learning Russian by myself, and now, UA-cam suggested me your channel and I am amazed with the things that could be improved and how to achieve good Russian skills for the future. Thank you for making this videos, are really enjoyable and I think are useful.
I like how you have demonstrated it. However, I find it easier to read it backwards...starting with the last part then work backwards by addeding sections...example: пед пипед лепипед ллелепипед раллелепипед then finally the whole word: параллелепипед..just my own method
The hardest part of reading long words for me is figuring out syllable parts. English just doesn't have long words like that so it's very un-natral to quickly site read a long word. It's like reading musical notes.
I think a problem with the long words is that the non-native speaker lacks confidence. When I ask my husband when I read something he says "yeah, perfect " but otherwise I would probably mumble and stumble and doubt myself because of lack of confidence or having a native speakers input. Thinking,I can't possibly be pronouncing this word correctly, it is too difficult. Thank you as usual, for your dedication to your students!
It's my pleasure. Yes, there are a lot of reasons, and lack of confidence is among them. However, of course, there are people who would pronounce a word entirely wrong but with a solid confidence that they do things right)
I began today learning a whole russian alphabet. As a beginner, we also have to learn how to separate syllables to read, I mean, to me, it is actually advanced to me right now, but with this, I´ve some idea what I gonna face after. Good challenge.
Hello, Denis - I really enjoy your videos and this is a particular favourite of mine. Don't know if I'm a bit mad but I enjoy the rich, longer words :) I just read into Google translate and see what turns up - when I get it right, my joy is unconfined! Thank you, fella - keep up the good work!

So when I saw first word on Denis list, I immediately recognised Одиннадчат(ь) = "Eleven" and класс "class". [Одиннадчат]+и+[класс]+нича. Then follow rest of rule to figure out rest of word as Denis teach. You shall soon see sections of syllables you already know and then figure out what bind them together. You'll see what I mean! ;-) Спасибо, что приняли мое высокомерие Денис. Бог с тобой всегда! Святой Михаил
I have been teaching myself for about a week with UA-cam tutorials. I paused the video at 3:56 to silently pronounce the words a few times, then I spoke them into Google translate app. It recognized my speech every time, and it spoke them back similarly to how I said them. I only sounded different for the last word. Is this good progress, or does Google not have very good pronunciation?
I've never learned russian, this is my native language. Here's just my experience of how I started to speak english fluently: simply sing songs. Any songs in russian you like. By doing this you get used to pronouncing foreign words, phrases and sentences, and memorize a lot of new words. Hopefully this will help you as much as it helped me. Good luck! 😊
Именно потому, что сами "русские" путались в произношении длинных слов, и появилась традиция "коротких названий", смысл которых все понимали сразу и без ошибки. ЧК, НКВД, КГБ, ФСБ...
What's so strange about the Russian alphabet? As a native English speaker, I find it easier to spell out an unfamiliar russian word I've heard than even one in my own native language. The russian alphabet makes complete sense, it's almost entirely phonetically consistent.
Thanks) The words are generally longer because of many multi-composite words, which in English you would often write as two words, in Russian are written as a one word. The second major reason is this -- Russian language is the language of word alteration. Words alter, that's why they often have some letters added to a stem in a form of suffix, prefix, or ending. And if you add something to a stem, that always makes a word longer)
Personally, the problem for me is the stress. I have no idea where the stressed should be placed in such a long word. Thank you regardless, Denis.
You are a very Very good teacher, Denis.......can I keep you ? 🙃
Here is a good website which shows you the stress for the most russian words.

Same here. I stress long words wrong almost every time. Something that helped a bit was checking with google translate.
I believe he made a vid a year before this comment was posted but I guess I'm a little late to telling you this

Google's speech recognition and pronunciation are fine. If Google properly understands what you say, that is a very positive indicator.
