Student Built Backhoe Thumb!

High School students built a backhoe thumb for a Kubota L39 and made a ripper to use on a Ford 1210 to groom baseball diamonds.

Great work Ben and Students....I heard you say u made a cardboard template and I had to think...Ben going to build him a thumb for his ole backhoe LOL....I Would! Also the Grader blade teeth are sweet idea...you could build a holder for them to hold them up when you dont need them and just never take them off...There used to be a company make a grader blade with teeth mounted behind the blade. each tooth was seperate like a box blade shank in a tube, and you could just let them down with a pin that way you could pick how many teeth you wanted down and up and how deep they were.....I like what you did just as well or better.....I noticed you put a tab on the rear of the blade too...I presume thats for the drag, too smooth it out........I really like that idea, and now I know what to do with my old ever growing RR Spike collection LOL...Great Ideas here

Awesome. I built a thumb similar to this for my 1025r backhoe. It’s super handy for holding logs off the ground when cutting firewood.

@@khtractors hey did you get another tractor?? And I’ve been trying to figure out if you now have the Massey back that I thought you sold to a neighbor??
So you now have the
Kubota
Farmall
Massey
And possibly something new judging by that community post you put up. Hopefully it’s another new tractor.
But I do think you would be crazy to let any of them go especially the Kubota. The way you run/maintain it you are not even a quarter of the way through its service life.
