Never thought about it but before watching this video my girlfriend was telling me that people wanted to boycott this day due to the way the United States is right now that we don’t have independence but me being in the military doesn’t really matter what it’s called at longest no one is disrespecting the flag
Since you asked about why the change to the 4th... I suggest you study a little more about US history (early 20th century). And if you go back even further, you might actually learn a lil' more about 07/02/1776. And concerns might matter to you such as, why people from true Native American blood (Indigenous) may not have a whole lot to celebrate on this holiday long after white settlers from England came here to spread disease, rape, pillage and tyranny. Did you know that certain people in Congress (and many within the Southern States) want to wipe those stories away from actual history? I am glad you, too, are as concerned as many of my ancestors are about this being wiped away from our children's education.
And hey, what in the hell is Cinco De Mayo mean to you? 5th of May? I only ask because you question the 4th of July vs Independence Day. Have you asked any Mexican American about original land rights long before the Battle of Alamo? Ugh... please stick to biking and out of politics and history if you don't know your facts.
