James Holtom and Marin Waddell who established Salay View Farm Goat Cheese operation on a small farm near Lang, Saskatchewan. The couple have a 900 square foot cheese building where they milk the goats and the cheese is made. At the time of the airing they were milking 24 goats. They sell most of their cheese packaged in 100 gram containers, at venues like the nearby Regina, Saskatchewan Farmers Market.
Location: Lang, Saskatchewan, Canada

The only thing that is interesting is why thy don't have high producing dairy breeds instead of apparently pigmy mixes? I had a large goat dairy for years and I milked about 500 Nubians and 500 Saanens I bred some in the fall to Boer billys for Easter meat kids and the rest in the spring this way they would have milk year round or at least 10-11 months for more of a steady income. Actually the meat cross kids produced a lot of income. I also used the best billys purchased from high producing tested herds. Just an observation for maximizing use of facilities and income.
Do you need a quota? How much was start up cost?
What kind goat?
