Have you ever walked on a lava field?

Yes, in Malpais, NM, in Greece, Italy, and Iceland. Didn't like it! Especially Iceland felt like a nightmare, lava practically everywhere. My oldest son loved it. Go figure!

Wow, Dionysios, that's quite a few different locations. You have traveled well! Yes, it's quite hard to walk on lava flow, but it's cool to see something different.

Beautiful! The contrast between the rocks and the green juniper & cacti is gorgeous. Excellent hikes too!

Indeed, contrast is what a lot of times makes things beautiful. Another example: snow on Saguaros.

Another great video! I watched it on the tv on Thursday. Sorry, I'm late commenting. It looks like y'all are blowing it out of the water! I'm so happy everyone is starting to find y'all now. Y'all are sure getting around. So far, this week alone, I've seen you on RV Lifestyle and Irene Iron Fitness. I'm so proud! Congratulations!🍾🥂🎉

Yes, this winter has been good for meeting new people :) And thank you for your kind words!

We love your videos, they cover the national parks and RVs. We love both even though we are in our mid 70s, we like traveling out west. Earlier this year we travel to San Diego, saw Cabrillo Monument, Went to Sequoia national Park, then took Route 66 like you are doing here. We love hiking the parks like you are doing, and you are filling in more knowledge than I think we acquired. Y’all do a great job, knowing that editing is time consuming and tedious at times. It’s entertaining watching your blooper additions. Arizona is our go winter spot, and have stayed at a couple places you mention. Y’all must be very goal oriented to have planned and executed such a long range plan. Kudos to you!

Yes. We have walked on several lava fields- most notably on the Big Island of Hawaii across fresh lava to see new land being formed were it flows into the sea.
We stopped at this NM a year ago. Nice visitor center. Did limited hiking to the overlook. Teenagers were doing scary things too close to the edge. You wouldn’t have liked it.
The end of this video was rather abrupt. Was that how it was supposed to end?

I would love to see fresh lava flowing some day!
Thanks for the feedback! We filmed the footage a while ago and at that time we weren't consistent about filming "outro" so we didn't have any for this video. In future in this kind of situation I will try to do a voiceover for the "outro" so it doesn't feel so abrupt.

Volcanos are soooo fascinating! Also, I'm curious how you did the graphic for tracking the walking path? That was such a great visual...great video guys 🙂👍🏻

    • @AdventurousWay

Thanks, Wilsons On Wheels :) We record the gps tracks when we do a hike (we use our Garmin Fenix watches, but you can do it on the phone as well, for example with Strava app). Then on a computer I lead the gps track into Google Earth software (it's free). There is a feature to do a "flyover" over recorder track. I fiddle around with settings for a while (like speed, distance from the track) until I'm happy. Then run the "movie maker" feature and it will spit out a video file. Then I edit that video file with the rest of the clips for a video.

Your Google Satellite maps are nice, but I'm looking forward to when you get a drone for overhead video and photos.
Maybe put in an Amazon Wishlist and people could contribute a small amount each for you to buy a nice one.Over 5k subscribers even if everyone just donated a dime each you could get a very nice one.
Knowing not everyone would donate, I'd certainly be in for couple of dollars or more.
Loving your videos as they are though.

We actually have a drone already. Generally, drones are not allowed in the National Parks. Also, we don't have the drone pilot license needed to use the drone footage commercially in our UA-cam channel yet. And we haven't prioritized studying and getting the license because most places where we go drones are not allowed anyways.
