In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.

Taskmaster is the best!
I understand Rosie well enough, despite being American. That said the subtitles are a nice have for the random words here and there. Y'all have a lot of regional dialects and it can be a hurdle occasionally to understand even people without the difficulties Rosie's got.

Oh man, after the absurdity of the smoothie suggestion, Baba’s reaction to that suggestion, and Greg mocking it as a suggestion, the reveal that they were actually going to make a smoothie had me in stitches.

@@shaye5095 To be fair I had just finished watching series 5 before this was uploaded and Abby was part of what prompted this. So many characters dying in childbirth O.o I just couldn't quite work it into paul giving birth and alex being birthed.
We even witnessed Alex's birth and ejection from the womb on a previous session. 😂

I need them, because as no native speaker it’s much easier to understand and if needed look up word I don’t know. Rosie is quite easy to understand.
I honestly really love Rosie, but with my hard of hearing it's hard to understand the words she says, yet she is still my favourite and funniest for me!

Jack calling it a "challenge" is probably the most hurtful thing anyone has ever said to Alex.
I gasped when he said it, but there was still something charmingly earnest about the way he asked.
I think it hurt more when a contestant kept calling the prize tasks, gifts.

Compared to series 16's natural friends, the introduction of Baba, Emma and Andy nearly felt warm and welcoming
Compared to Ivo and Frankie, and Sian and Joe, and Russell insisting that his and Alice were “Team Funk”, and Richard scaring Daisy…Baba, Emma and Andy seemed downright urbane.
I really love how much Rosie is relishing in the fact that her sunny attitude is going to grate on Jack's nerves this whole season. And I can tell Jack might kind of secretly love it.
My headcannon is the Jack is like Nick Offerman for Parks and Rec, plays usually stoic no laughing characters but in person is very giggly and nice
I agree! He puts up this grumpy facade, but there seems to be a sweet and silly sensibility beneath many of his actions.
@@simpleguy86 There was IIRC a post in the Taskmaster subreddit reposting a tweet or interview where Jack pretty much said he thought people would laugh more for his Taskmaster run if he acted perpetually grumpy.
I've never seen him outside of Taskmaster so I assume that's basically his "bit".

I've only watched the first season once before and after watching these I thought I'd go back and rewatch from the start while I wait for next weeks and I was so shocked when they started introducing the football team, like hang on! I've heard these names before!!
The immediate Hotdog costume actually paid off. Wow. Right on Jackie.
Honestly Jack was the perfect winner. Can't think of a person who is more simultaneously silly and serious.

Now I have to reformat my whole "fav contestants" hierarchy and I don't even know where to begin. In one episode she called Alex her little baby boy with delight and sincerity, and called him a toerag with basic show format derision and sincerity. She's a bundle of smiles, but she'll still call you a toerag and even that with just the hint of a smile
Just the closed captions in the opening roll is hilarious. "HE SIGHS WEARILY" / "EXPLOSIONS, SHE SCREAMS" / "ROBOT TRILL".
I'll be the first to admit that I was not excited when I saw Rosie announced on the line-up, but wow has she proved me wrong!! And I've never enjoyed being wrong this much haha😂😂
She is HILARIOUS, and her personality and humour really shine in the TM format. 👏🏼👏🏼🎉🎉

Rosie and Jack together are a fucking delight.
When I first saw that it was them, my thought was, 'This should be fun.'
Then seeing them actually interacting together and playing off each other I thought, 'OMG! This will be the funniest pair ever!'
I can't think of a team that has been more diametrically opposite and yet work so perfectly together for comedy gold!
Looking forward to the team tasks this season... and they are not usually my favorite of the show before :D

I'm an American in my 30s and try to watch all the British comedy I can, but i admit that it confounded me when some of the older, dour gents showed up on panel or talk shows or podcasts and just weren't very funny and seemed genuinely miserable being there. Jack Dee and Frankie Boyle were top of the list. I'd never seen any of their standup, and it's taken this wonderful show to peel back the layers of their personas and show some of their real personality, and it made me really appreciate them. I just really love it when the silliness of the situation can get Jack Dee to break character.

He was on the podcast with Ed for last week's episode and he kept me laughing the entire time 😊 Definitely worth a listen!
I love how Rosie plays off the "grumpy old man" type of comedians. Between her teaming up with Jack here and Sean Lock on Cats Does Countdown, you can tell she loves "breaking" their character and they have such a hard time not constantly smiling when with her.
I love how she managed to convince Jack to try and assist her in doing a headstand, and he ends up playfully chiding her when she inevitably fails.
Babba's defense of the 3 headed beast smoothie was expert. Deserved more than 2!

So what have we learned today?
We've learned that Emma Sidi can't make smoothies, pancakes, or usable clocks. We've learned that climbers think they're very clever. We've learned that Jack Dee is equally miserable in a hot dog costume as he is in all other situations. And we've learned that if you've got time left over, you might as well do a two-step to add a little flavor.
But we've most importantly learned that the winner of tonight's episode is JACK DEEEEEEE!

@@moiramarriott4403 considering everyone in the crowd and show could understand her and there's actually only one joke I couldn't understand at all no matter how much I go back. I think this affects mostly non natives
@@elgatitodraven7501 There's no way of knowing if every person in the crowd actually understood her... I think it's more to do with how good people's auditory processing is, no matter the language. But I do also find it gets easier with getting used to her speech pattern. I had a lot of trouble last episode understanding her, already so much easier this time around!

Which means they will always understand+communicate faster and clearer thru text than anything else. deafness is a gradient and BC her cerbal palsy Rosie's mouth movements don't always give me (or anyone else lipreading) much info. I love her and I have a bet w my husband that she is gonna win, but I am gonna need subs for every contestant, not just her.

(this is an honest question, not trying to be rude). but I think they might've meant they're not a native English speaker, like myself, so subtitles are very useful for all the different English accents. and a lot of people have trouble processing auditory words (dunno what it's called), so subs are useful so their brain doesn't have to catch up all the time.
