when they announced this cast I would say at least 30% of the comments I saw were complaining about Rosie's inclusion on the show - there was some hateful stuff; a lot of condemnation of her as "just not-funny" - and they wouldn't watch because they were annoyed at hearing her speak; I've never seen anything like that on YT TM before - in 17 seasons prior. I'm glad those people are not speaking now... I'm just really grateful for her inclusion in this one.
I certainly didn't hate on her and understood the reason she was included but will admit to skipping past some of her segments in early episodes. I have difficulty understanding vocals as-is and found encountering her disability in a comedy show oddly confrontational and uncomfortable, making me think I perhaps wasn't as inclusive as I liked to think myself. And yet she's grown on me massively and that feeling is entirely gone. Proof to me that inclusivity works and you need to bring these extra perspectives to people. Well done Taskmaster for bringing her on, ensuring tasks were more, heh, cerebral in some respects without tiptoeing around anything. The show and this series was richer for it. Man I'm gonna miss this season so much, the casts just keep getting better and better. Thanks a million again and again to everyone involved in this show for making such a wonderful thing, and a million more thanks for faithfully making it available to so many around the world for free.
I didn't even realize we got to the Finale already. Great series! Love the work of the production team, editors and media staff who also allow us US viewers watch along on UA-cam
For non-UK viewers, we have reach to that dreadful point of the series. At the start, we have no clue who's these people are. Now, all of them had become family and this is the last time seeing them. Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
I would've been fine with anyone winning, but I'm glad Andy saving the hotdog outfit for that last all or nothing task didn't cost him the series win. Anyways shoutouts to those geese for their comedic timing. The ones that flew overhead were funny, too!
Saltzman got robbed, that goose documentary was possibly the funniest bit of the season. Chasing the geese away was amazing, but when he came out of the hedge, I absolutely lost it.
@@phuttyyt Identical word is identical word. And this is Taskmaster, the show that loves to disqualify people for ridiculous reason. (E.g. Joe's potato throw, in which he probably DIDN'T even touch the red green, because that small front tip of a toe of a runner tilts up into the air rather than touching the ground. But the illusion from above of touching the red green, was enough for them to disqualify him and consider that hilarious.) So when contestants are told that if they say a number, there's a negative consequence... and then they say a word that is unambiguously a number, as in, it is in every children's book for learning to count, spelled that way, pronounced that way... it just doesn't matter if they say "Oh but the way I MEANT to say that word was not in the "number" sense." Doesn't matter. They said a number. Obviously it especially doesn't matter here, because Alex and team didn't notice until after the studio show when post-watch audiences pointed it out. But if they'd caught it, surely this at LEAST would have made an entertaining moment with Greg considering the question.
very rare that this happens, but Andy screaming at imposter geese actually actually reduced-fat me to a cackling fit. my chest hurts from how hard i laughed at that.
THIS!!! So anticlimactic. You wanted them to turn around and say sorry Andy like with Joe Wilkinson and his 'toe on the red green' debacle, which was clearly scripted and staged like quite a bit of taskmaster, but they clearly didn't see it or hear it I guess... They missed out on a great moment for that last episode.
TM really let her personality shine - revealed how brilliant she is. She used to irk me when I'd see her on other things but she has easily become my favorite
I knew him when he was doing the Bugle podcast with John Oliver. Loved him then and was very happy just to see him on Taskmaster. To see him win has me over the moon.
Andy is probably my favourite champion from all the series. Pure class. This was a great series, great contestants, fun dialogues and tasks. Still waiting for Max Fosh to be a contestant.
He also should have won the whole show. At 13:13 Andy says "one" in the theatre task. He won the series by 3 points, and should have got 0 for that task.
I know that at this point it’s a cliché to say this but can we please, please, please 🙏 stay on this series forever? The back to basics tasks, the electric in-studio banter, every contestant bringing something different to the table, the most evenly matched panel we’ve had in years, and Emma’s detective outfit (easily my favourite out of the entire show) have all made this a hell of a series for me. I certainly don’t want to write off a line-up before we’ve even seen them, but I don’t envy the group that has to follow this whatsoever.
I think what's shocking is getting a series THIS good after series 16. Every series/cast is lovely but not This good, we were lucky to get two in such proximity to each other. I agree though that this series was elevated by some extra good task writing. Been craving a return to minimalism for a while and I think Alex really caught onto that need.
I love that the detective outfit actually made some of her discoveries just so much better! She seemed so intelligent when she found the loophole or actual easy way to do the task
I LOVE Andy's brain. This whole series made me want to be his wizard's apprentice or something 🤣 They should have a "chaos season" with him, Bob Mortimer, Lucy Beaumont, Rhod Gilbert, and James Acaster.
If I was able to choose five former contestants to get the most chaotic season possible, I'd go Rhod Gilbert, Lou Sanders, Fern Brady, Jessica Knappett, and Noel Fielding. Although I might replace one of the last two with James Acaster if I know he'll be teamed up with Rhod again, just to see if his head finally explodes.
@@stephendavis6267 The live tasks have their disadvantages. If the task doesn't go well, the can't just drop it like they might with a dud task filmed beforehand. That being said, some of the live tasks were absolutely fantastic and I disagree with minimizing them. Maybe just change the format so they aren't at the end of every episode so that, if you get a task that doesn't play out as you'd hoped, no one will miss it if it's edited out.
i don't mind them, but contestants should be made aware of scoring so they can use their double point item more strategically in the series if available

Following that the cast for Series 19 will be revealed!
**** SPOILERS BELOW, including the biggest ONE, with analysis & math(s) **** * * * 13:08 Regarding Andy saying "one" in the cinema task, it was correctly not accepted as his answer. Even if it had, he would have still come in 3rd place in the task. He would have dropped one point, with Emma gaining one. Andy would still win the series by 2 points. Andy responded, "Couldn't eat a whole one," to Alex's question of "Do you like eagles?" "One" in Andy's sentence was a "quantifier pronoun" and it wasn't used as a number. A quantifier pronoun is a word like "some," "many," "several," and several other words. It is not a number. Therefore, it was correctly not interpreted as Andy's answer. One should agree with this. According to Jack Bernhardt last night talking to Alex at a TM book launch party: "Alex didn’t spot this (and no-one on the production team did either). His opinion (and [Jack is] inclined to agree) is that it would have been extremely harsh and ultimately wrong."
Even if Mr. Davies did not accept that logic, there is sufficient evidence using the items on the screen (14:14), to determine that Andy would have come in 3rd in the task. Andy's official time was 13 min, 19 sec (16:46). This included missing 5 tiny chairs and 4 items on the screen. That means he took 4m19s of clock time to do the task. As for the items, Andy gets at least to Emma's beloved robot. That was the 13th item. That means the interval between items was at most 20 seconds (4m19s / 13 items).
The eagle was the 9th screen item. Andy is shown saying 6 of the first 9 items on screen. That means he would have had at most 3 minutes of penalties for missed items. It also means that his clock time would have been at most 3 minutes (9 * 20 seconds) at the time he said "one."
Andy's maximum time was 338 minutes, 0 seconds. That's 332 minutes for chairs, 3 minutes for missed items, plus 3 minutes on the clock. That worst case would have been good enough for Andy to still beat Rosie by 39 seconds and earn 3rd place. Andy Zaltzman is the rightful champion. p.p.s. While Jack also used "one" as a pronoun in the cinema task, he appears to have said it after the "three." He said "three" with the 8th item on the screen (robin). Jack said, "one of those exercise balls." The exercise ball was not among the first 15 items, so it was the "three" that counted...unless it was a second showing of the robin, in which case he was last, anyway.
this is so much thought and effort for something that does not matter at all. I love it so much. I love when people use their talents for silly purposes. That's probably why i love taskmaster and this comment so much.
@@arin2747, thank you very much. This at least matters to some people. I've done this kind of thing on far more frivolous matters just because it amused me. Even with Taskmaster, I worked out the probability that Russell Howard would hit a dartboard with 8 darts and manage to score 3 points or fewer. It was around 1-in-435, IIRC. That answered a question no one asked. There's a small cohort of people who enjoy someone geeking out like this. Thank you for being one of them.
Andy shouldn’t have won. He said “couldn’t eat a whole ONE” at 13:12. He would have gotten 1 point instead of 5, so he would be 4 points lower and Jack would have been the winner of the series.
This is one of the greatest series of the entire Taskmasterverse, right there with 1, 7, 10 or NZ5. And if there were a People's Champion of People's Champions, Rosie would take the trophy.

I didn’t like her at first - then she seemed to relax and be more comfortable and herself and I ended up really liking her!
rosie saying "captain jackie and the hotdog" is still my season highlight
That was another GREAT series. Imagine being on your 18th (!) season and still delivering this quality! 💕
Top 3 season for me
I didn't even realize we got to the Finale already. Great series! Love the work of the production team, editors and media staff who also allow us US viewers watch along on UA-cam
One of the best series ever, I'll miss this cast a lot. Cheers
woah it’s haelian
Rosie does Weimar era Berlin cabaret with Alex the Goose.
17:16 is the moment Jack realised if he'd win he'll have to do CoC and went nuclear.
Gosh, I really wanted him on CoC!
@@anaya1117 I did comment on a previous episode that I think it would be great because he'd be livid haha.
"Blood-Brothers in the Ballet of Evolution" could have been a good title too! Anyway LOVED this series, will miss everyone!
I just want to say that I really appreciated Emma this series! She has some of the best in-studio lines and comebacks!
I also love her outfit, hers and Bridget Christie’s are my favourites.
Emma was also super freaking smart on lots of tasks. I was impressed, plus she was a good sport a lot when she lost.
Did Maisie Adam write “T’Goose”, as part of her Play Cycle “There’s Trouble at Dip”?
I would watch an actual nature documentary narrated by Andy.
Can't help you with that, but there exists a surprising amount of Andy narrating a fake noir detective novel entitled The Congressman's Penis.
For non-UK viewers, we have reach to that dreadful point of the series. At the start, we have no clue who's these people are. Now, all of them had become family and this is the last time seeing them. Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
Knew them except for Em
So true. And now our eyes are opened. As in every season
You don't listen to The Bugle?
@ well, I mean, of course, but in general for a lot of Non-UK viewers. I’ve known a fair few of the combatants
so glad you to got say this :) good luck on everyone else copy/pasting this for attention next season!
This was by far one of the best seasons yet. Jack Dee is everything I aspire to be in the future.
He’s everyone’s hero now!
I would've been fine with anyone winning, but I'm glad Andy saving the hotdog outfit for that last all or nothing task didn't cost him the series win.
Anyways shoutouts to those geese for their comedic timing. The ones that flew overhead were funny, too!
All or nothing prize tasks (and in fact, any kind of all or nothing tasks) are bullshit and Alex knows it
@@antiphon000 Truly. the worst example being the one that gave richard herring the win on Coc2.
Saltzman got robbed, that goose documentary was possibly the funniest bit of the season. Chasing the geese away was amazing, but when he came out of the hedge, I absolutely lost it.
Saltzman got a gift, he said the number "one" during the chair-counting task, and Alex and production missed it.
@@caterinadc5567 He said the pronoun 'one', not the number 'one'.
But the illusion from above of touching the red green, was enough for them to disqualify him and consider that hilarious.)
So when contestants are told that if they say a number, there's a negative consequence... and then they say a word that is unambiguously a number, as in, it is in every children's book for learning to count, spelled that way, pronounced that way... it just doesn't matter if they say "Oh but the way I MEANT to say that word was not in the "number" sense." Doesn't matter. They said a number.
Obviously it especially doesn't matter here, because Alex and team didn't notice until after the studio show when post-watch audiences pointed it out. But if they'd caught it, surely this at LEAST would have made an entertaining moment with Greg considering the question.
He absolutely nailed the words, intonation and cadence of nature documentaries presenters. I couldn't stop laughing.
@@caterinadc5567he still would have won the series
I hope that "I will... like you... give him one" comment by Greg doesn't go unappreciated. 26:46
very rare that this happens, but Andy screaming at imposter geese actually actually reduced-fat me to a cackling fit. my chest hurts from how hard i laughed at that.
Reduced fat
Driving me crazy that Andy says "I want one!" during the cinema task! That's a number!
Ok. I admit, I was doubtful at first, but, that was a great season!
Thank you, Taskmaster for allowing this on yt!
Zaltzman said one during the chair counting task. In response to Alex’s eagle question, he said “I couldn’t eat a whole ONE.”
Also considering it would change the outcome of the serie!
The cow eyes closing. 😂👌
I loved Jack’s vibe so much, kinda sad we won’t see him in CoC 😢
That prize task was completely unhinged and it both excited and frightened me.
Did you clench?
vacuum sealed
I love this cast so much. Especially the dynamic duo that is Jack and Rosie
I think The Goose is one of the greatest tasks in TM history!
Rosie having an existential crisis after the counting chairs challenge really got me. Rosie is a treasure.
What an innings by Andy. The century style celebration at the end was a perfect touch
This might have been my favorite prize task. The last 3 of them were very good at convincing Greg.
Man Rosie was such a treat. Easily one of my favorite seasons so far!
TM really let her personality shine - revealed how brilliant she is. She used to irk me when I'd see her on other things but she has easily become my favorite
@@RoyaMoyaSoya Same!!!
Same! Love her sense of humor
I am so happy the wider world is now aware of the legend that is Andy Zaltsman.
im more ov a shemp and curly fan. but Larry was always entertaining
@@nunyanunya4147that got a laugh.
It makes my heart happy!!
I knew him when he was doing the Bugle podcast with John Oliver. Loved him then and was very happy just to see him on Taskmaster. To see him win has me over the moon.
@@PapaVanTwee5 I cannot wait to see him and John Robins face off.
another smashing season in the books! Thank you Taskmasters! ❤
Andy is probably my favourite champion from all the series. Pure class. This was a great series, great contestants, fun dialogues and tasks. Still waiting for Max Fosh to be a contestant.
I've been bingeing AU version in the interim, but it's so comforting to have the OG back! They're so funny and lighthearted.
Another season fantastically well played. Thank you for continuing to bring us all the fun! Looking forward to a future Canadian version! :D
aww I'm going to miss this cast. Congrats on a great series, and thank you for uploading it :)
“It is not often that you get to see a breakdown in real time”, Greg says, but I’d say that’s basically his job.
Jack won in my heart
He also should have won the whole show. At 13:13 Andy says "one" in the theatre task. He won the series by 3 points, and should have got 0 for that task.
@@aenamabag Yeah but they will never go back on that
@@StanislavHronek true
Rosie Jones is the comedian I didn’t know I needed. Such a delight
I certainly don’t want to write off a line-up before we’ve even seen them, but I don’t envy the group that has to follow this whatsoever.
we say it nearly every year
@itsy-bitsyspider tbh I certainly wasn’t saying it after series 17
I think what's shocking is getting a series THIS good after series 16. Every series/cast is lovely but not This good, we were lucky to get two in such proximity to each other. I agree though that this series was elevated by some extra good task writing. Been craving a return to minimalism for a while and I think Alex really caught onto that need.
I love that the detective outfit actually made some of her discoveries just so much better! She seemed so intelligent when she found the loophole or actual easy way to do the task
Love how half the contestants took the prize task's wording to mean "attempt to actively intimidate Greg"
This show makes me so happy.
@@nathanhaimson I think if James had to deal with those four he may actually explode
Jack Dee's gloves, lubes and drills are hilarious! 😂
I really dislike the all-or-nothing tasks. I much prefer tasks with standard scoring.
Agreed. And keep the live team tasks to a minimum.
I suspect it may have been an attempt to widen the gap of the scores, given how close the filmed tasks were for this series specifically
I think pass/fail scoring would have been a lot more fair for Paul Sinha in series 8, and maybe a few others.
Thank you for another fantastic series, it was a fun ride, as always! And thank you for giving it to us, who are not in the UK, this quickly. Always is one of the highlights, when a new taskmaster video pops up in my youtube notifications. :-)
Every single season, you’re like “who the hell are these people?”
And by the end you’re in love 😍
Thank you, Taskmaster for another amazing series! I will look forward to 19 while I rewatch all of the rest!
Great Cast! Thank you so much for sharing it with the world. As always, will miss this group. Amazing how attached one becomes to all of them. Fantastic series!
Rosie’s presentation of The Goose is the first time I’ve genuinely laughed in weeks
I so thought there was a secret task for Andy since he dressed different for every episode. lol :P
Nobody's a stronger runner than the Boss. I mean this guy was born to run!
That was such a clever joke hidden inside a terrible joke.
I don’t think a single other contestant on this entire show has made me consistently laugh like rosie has. what a gem
Alex expression during the gag of Greg's introduction to him is perfect. You can tell he's inwardly like 'how the hell am I going to explain this when shopping tomorrow'... xD
Rosie was my fav on this series. So funny & a real sweetheart
I totally love Emma now!
30:55 What's good for the gooch is good for the google
Oh yeah, I'm feelin' lucky
While I really wanted Jack Dee to win, Andy Zaltsman is going to be fantastically unhinged on Champion of Champions for sure. Can't wait for his costume for that.
I was rooting for the detective, but I’ll take the mad cricketer too :)
@@lawrencecalablaster568 She was another favorite, too!

13:08 Regarding Andy saying "one" in the cinema task, it was correctly not accepted as his answer. Even if it had, he would have still come in 3rd place in the task. He would have dropped one point, with Emma gaining one. Andy would still win the series by 2 points.
Andy responded, "Couldn't eat a whole one," to Alex's question of "Do you like eagles?"
"One" in Andy's sentence was a "quantifier pronoun" and it wasn't used as a number.
Rosie's 4th place time was 338:39.
Oh thank you for doing the math! This comment deserves more attention.
Thank you for doing the math!!
It's a British show, so they did the maths 😉
this is so much thought and effort for something that does not matter at all.
Rosie is certifiably diabolical.
Andy shouldn’t have won.
He said “couldn’t eat a whole ONE” at 13:12.
He would have gotten 1 point instead of 5, so he would be 4 points lower and Jack would have been the winner of the series.
Le Goose is absolutely art
Andy should have said "With relish." to reading the final task.
Rosie is unhinged... and it's epic.
This is one of the greatest series of the entire Taskmasterverse, right there with 1, 7, 10 or NZ5. And if there were a People's Champion of People's Champions, Rosie would take the trophy.
Andy casually dropping masterpieces in every creative task
