Here’s some practical tips which should be useful when you travel for Hajj or Umrah.

As of 21st May 2023 i got my zam zam water from jeddah airport without any problems alhumdulillah. They just asked to see passports thats it. I have a british passport and i am currently in doha on route to LHR tomorrow insha Allah. I am just praying that the Zam Zam water will make it to London without any problems

You can take ZamZam to Pakistan without any problem.
But can you take zamzam from Pakistan to London or other western countries?

@ Jamshaid, generally speaking, you are not allowed to carry liquid containers of more than 100ml with you on the plane. Larger bottles etc must be checked in. However, for specifics, please contact your airlines.

I have been to ksa for umra in Ramadan 2024, the 5 liters bottle cost now 12.5 riyal which almost 50% increased from last year price of 8 riyal stated in this video.
No troubles in check in the package even with tourist visa.

They need to make it clear rather than being inconsistent on bringing back zamzam from diff airports and different visa types. Cant it be that hard for authorities

We came back from jeddah airport on tourist visa in shawal and brought zamzam although the porter kept saying we wont be able to take but noone asked anything and not even chkd our passports
@ Samo Syed, thank you for sharing your experience. This further goes to show that they have come up with this “rule” but nobody is fully certain when and how it is applied.
If you go fro hajj and u use wizz air or any airline u don't have baggage allowance still u can get zam zam water
Unfortunately, I don’t know that. I didn’t want to risk it. So, on my latest trip, I flew there with Wizz Air but returned on Saudia.

23rd September to 1st October i travelling to Manchester through Qatar Airways i was only allowed 1 5litre in my checked in luggage but not inside the luggage and they do ask if you got anything inside the luggage itself as you are not allowed

Assalamu Alaikum. We are on tourist visa but performed Umrah here and will be departing from Medinah. We already bought one bottle Zam Zam from the store here and filled it into these transport bottles that they sell. We had planned to put it into our luggage, but after seeing your video, I think we won’t be allowed right? Because we 1) have tourist visas and 2) it’s not allowed to put Zam Zam into luggage, right?
Can we put the water back into our Zam Zam Bottle, or will it be a problem that it’s already „opened“ and not sealed.
@ Walaikum Salam. Dana, yes, generally speaking, you are not supposed to put ZamZam in your luggage. They normally do not allow random bottles personally filled by travellers.
If it is the type of sealed bottles I showed in the video, I know in some cases people have put those in the luggage and successfully took it home. However, there is a good chance it might be caught in the scan, they open the luggage and throw it out. So, you can take the chance, it is up to you.
Ideally, the bottle should not only be sealed, it should be in a plastic packet, inside the white box. That’s what they sell at the airport for 8.5 riyals.
The best option is to buy the 8.5 riyals’ sealed bottles from the airport and request them to take it as a separate item (not in the luggage). As you are flying from Madinah, I hope it will be allowed, even on tourist visa.

Taking zam zam is right of every muslim
brother for what you pay 8.5rials plz explain, i mean can't you simply filled any 5liter bottle for free anywhere?
@ 4tech Dell, You can fill any bottle anywhere but you cannot take them on the plane. When you travel back home after Hajj or Umrah, if you want to take ZamZam home, you must buy the pre-packed bottles from the airport. The water is free but the bottle will cost you 8.5 riyals.

Me and my family had the same problem getting the ZamZam water back with us from Madinah airport. Because we had the tourist visa we were not permitted to take any back with us and were told that we need the Umrah visa.
Alhamdulillaah after a negotiation we were permitted to take the water with us.
I’m worried that with this new law, we may only get zamzam water with a Umrah visa going forward.

I travelled on tourist visa and returned to the U.K. from Madinah few weeks ago. I had no problems bringing 5L ZamZam per person. I didn’t even have to negotiate. They didn’t object at all.
Yes, the current rule is No ZamZam on tourist visa but it is not applied consistently. I think they will be stricter on this moving forward.
Right now, sometimes they object, sometimes they allow after a bit of negotiation and sometimes they don’t object at all. So, yeah, good luck! 😃
We just got back to the UK from Umrah last week.
We flew back from Jeddah Airport.
There was eight of us travelling and we had eWaiver visa.
We were flying back with Egypt Airlines terminal north Jeddah airport.
And at the kiosk we were allowed to take eight 5 litre Zamzam according to the number of travellers in our party.
So I can confirm that with evisa you can bring one 5 litre per traveller.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work the same way for everyone. My sister’s family (a group of 4 on e-visa) was traveling from Jeddah new terminal on Emirates to New York. They purchased four 5L bottles but were not allowed to take them like we normally do. After a lot of pleading, the kiosk/checkin counter said “you can put one 5L inside your luggage. If it is thrown out later, I cannot help.”
They followed the advice and Alhamdulillah managed to take one 5L bottle for the whole family.
Is the ewaiver visa the same as the tourist visa?

Only 5 ltr is allowed or we can add some in luggage or hand bag for 2023 haj pilgrim......
@ Aamir, you cannot take ZamZam in your handbag. When you go through security check, they will throw away the water.
If you put extra ZamZam water in your main luggage, don’t fill your personal bottle. You can try to put an extra pre-packaged 5L bottle bought from the airport.
However, there’s no guarantee. Sometimes they will throw it out, sometimes they won’t.
So, the first 5L is guaranteed. Anything more than that depends on your luck (by Allah).
Do i put the water through with the checked in language on the conveyor belt and if so do i need to put some extra packing on it? Will be travelling with qatar airlines on tourist visa
No, the ZamZam water goes as a separate item. So, no extra packing needed. It is handed in at a separate place at your departure airport. Not with the checked in baggage.
Need clarification, there are two types of luggage, on handcarry (7Kg), we will take this water packing or it will be extra assumptions on it.
The ZamZam water container is not carried in the luggage. So, it does not form part of the weight limit (whatever kg) of your “hand carry” / carry-on or main luggage. It goes as a separate item. This is the general rule. I have done multiple Umrahs (Alhamdulillah) and every time this rule was followed. However, I suggest you confirm with your airline.
Assalamualaikum brother I want to know if I have layover and the airlines are different. My checked bags does It get transferred automatically or do I have to find the bags and check them in?
Walaikum Salam, if the tickets are booked as one booking (under one PNR) then it is possible that your luggage would be transferred even when you fly with two different airlines.
However, if these are two separate bookings and have separate PNRs, then it is a self transfer. In that case, you have to collect your luggage after the first flight and check them in again.
Did they include 5 litter zamzam into your laguage because on flight ticket is allowed only 2 bage of 23 23 weight or that zam zam will be separate

Walaikum Salam. I have never flown from Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh but Yes, that is my understanding. You should be able to find your ZamZam water as a separate item at your destination.
@@LifeMoves so what happens if you just bag the items and put it thought luggage, because Dhaka airport is notorious for item being stolen or missing, do the Saudis scan each luggage bag, I just don't get it why the zam zam water needs to be sent separately and not in your luggage any reason behind this or do you know if they scan each bags which is going to the aeroplane cargo?
Tbh I cannot say for sure. You can ask them at the check in counter when you hand in your checked baggage at Madinah airport. I suspect they will ask you to hand in the ZamZam separately at another counter.
@@LifeMoves thanks I am actually flying out from Jeddah, insha'Allah, so you buy the zam zam water from the first counter but then you said on the second counter you need to show your receipt, can you explain this bit please, I assume the first counter you get your water and you can put in side your luggage and go to the check on counter and hand your luggage over and that's all done isn't?
The setup of the ZamZam kiosks/counters at different airports and terminals can be slightly different. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Buying ZamZam is a simple process.
Then you head to the airlines’ check in counter. This is where you can ask if it is okay to put the water in your luggage. If you put it in without asking, there’s a risk that it may be removed and thrown out later. I have heard reports of this happening but have not verified this independently.

You may have to go past immigration and exit the airport to get ZamZam.
brother one thing you forgot to mention is whether all airlines are ok with it, we are flying with pegasus airline tomorrow from Madina, we hope we can get through ?
@ Ahmad, I just asked my friend (who is a Hajj Umrah agent) about Pegasus. He said this: “If you are on Umrah visa, they will allow ZamZam. If you are on tourist visa, it is hit-and -miss. As it is a low-cost carrier, they are more likely to deny than other airlines. If you have paid for additional luggage and want to take ZamZam instead of the luggage, they may accept it. But it is not guaranteed.”
That’s my friend the Umrah agent saying this. Personally, I don’t know for sure.

@@LifeMoves Assalamoalaikum, yes so we a family of 3 returned on Pegasus airline, no issues at all. best to get a porter which is very cheap and he will sort everything out.
When you buy water they did not ask for any visa etc, simply gave three upon seeing passports. arrived at stanstead and the water was at a seperate place. (Again that was my experience, it could be different for others.)

Does the zam zam water come in a sealed bag and is further packed in a box when its from makkah or medinah? Jazakallah khair for your help. I read online that fakes come with a bag and genuine bottles don't. Is that true?
@ Zarah - Walaikum Salam. Yes, the genuine ZamZam water comes in 5L bottle, which is in a sealed plastic bag, which is in a cardboard box. I have shown this in episode 30.

Salaam. Will upload soon In Sha Allah. In the meantime, take a few plastic bottles with you each less than 100ml. Fill them with ZamZam. At the airport security, you will find clear plastic bags. Place the small bottles in them. It will go through security. You can then take it in your carry-on luggage. (Remember, any bottle that is more than 100ml will be thrown out)

@ Boouja, if it is in the checked in luggage, they can potentially see it in the scanner. In some cases, they open the luggage and take it out. In other cases, it goes through. Neither one is guaranteed.

I will be visiting Saudi on a Business VISA and will be returning from Jeddah after Umrah. Lets see if they allow me to take ZamZam. I read this on a website though for Jeddah, "Each pilgrim leaving on an international flight is allowed to carry one Zamzam bottle, provided that they present proof of Umrah registration through the Nusuk app"

The answer to your question is not very simple. Can you buy ZamZam? Yes. Can you take it on your next flight? Maybe.
Here’s why. Getting ZamZam is unrelated to Umrah or Hajj. If you have the necessary visa to exit the airport in Jeddah or Madinah, you can go and buy ZamZam.
However, if you are flying from country A to country C with only a stopover in Jeddah or Madinah, you will probably check your luggage in from Country A and get it in country C. That would mean you are not checking in any luggage from Jeddah or Madinah. That’s where the problem lies. You cannot carry ZamZam on the plane. The ZamZam water is usually checked in along with your luggage (but not inside the luggage).
If you book two flights separately then it would work. Flight 1 from country A to Madinah. Then flight 2 from Madinah to country C. If you have Saudi visa, you collect your luggage in Madinah, exit the airport, buy ZamZam, check it in for the second flight.
Will wizz air allow to take extra 5 little zam zam water along with the baggage ?
There’s a chance that they will not but I cannot confirm this from experience. I have flown from Rome to Jeddah on Wizz air but never flown out of KSA on Wizz.

1st: What to write where it says ‘Residential Saudia Address’? Is it the hotel address?
2nd: when giving details for the insurance, there are two boxes to complete. One is ‘mailbox’ and second is ‘postal code’. It doesn’t allow to add uk post code and only allows numbers to enter. Can you please advise what to enter in these boxes?

1. The address in Saudi I provided was just the name of the hotel. You don’t even need an actual hotel reservation. You can provide the name of any hotel and book your room later.
2. I don’t recall the specifics of the form but I didn’t have any major issues filling in my address.
Zam zam water is free for Umrah visa and you get the same inside the airport. You just need to show your passport and visa.
Thanks for the update. I now travel on Tourist visa. When I last traveled there on Umrah visa a few years ago, I had to pay about 8 riyals for ZamZam water at the official ZamZam counter at the airport.
I am taking a domestic flight from medinah to jeddah airport then getting my long flight to london. Do I buy from medinah and will it be sent back properly?
If the domestic (MED to JED) and international (JED to LON) are part of the same booking, then yes, you can buy from Madinah. In other words, if you are issued your boarding passes for both domestic (MED to JED) and international (JED to LON) at the same time in Madinah, then you can check-in your ZamZam water from Madinah and get it in London.
6 months ago, I traveled from Madinah to Riyadh (domestic) and Riyadh to London (international). These were part of the same booking. I purchased my ZamZam in Madinah, checked it in and received it in London.

@ Nourhan, visa on arrival is the same category as tourist visa that’s obtained online. For ZamZam on tourist visa, please see episode 30.
I am on visit visa and will be flying back to my country next month via air arabia. I have opted for 2 baggages and i want to know whether the zamzam water's weight will be counted only or the container will be counted as 1 baggage? I.e can i take 2 luggage +zamzam container or 1 luggage+zamzam container?
@ Eram, ZamZam water is usually checked in as a separate item and not counted as part of your luggage allowance. For specific luggage policy, please check with your airline.

@ Sameera, I am unable to comment on whether or not you can bring 2 luggage items because it depends on your airline and the category of ticket you purchased. You should be able to see your airline’s luggage policy when you book your ticket.
Can you explain where exactly you got it from Jeddah airport, please? My friend had some trouble finding it and so she got back without buying them. And I’m flying next month, in shaa Allah, and wish to take it home.

From (new) Airport Terminal 1, you can buy ZamZam from:
- Outside the North Gate of the Hall.
- Inside Hall A1
- Outside gate B2.
- Outside gate C2.
Please note, if you are traveling on tourist visa, your airline may object to carry the ZamZam water. Some people get lucky, some don’t.

As far as I know, yes, you can get ZamZam at Riyadh airport but I have not personally bought it from there.

You can obtain ZamZam in Riyadh but the logistics depend on your flight. If you are flying from Madinah/Jeddah and Riyadh is just a stopover (not a separate flight booking) then you should buy your ZamZam from Madinah/Jeddah.

As far I know, yes. However, I have not personally purchased ZamZam from Riyadh airport.
We visited Umrah visa but we returned back to India from Dammam Airport and we actually didn't know if it was available or not at the airport.

You can try Al Ghufran Safwah Hotel Makkah. Also, I like Pullman ZamZam Makkah.

The specifics can depend on the airline but generally speaking, yes, ZamZam is not included in your luggage allowance. It goes as a separate item and usually there is no extra charge for this.

Is the counter open 24 hours?
I cannot say for sure but I have bought ZamZam at various times of the day and night, but never seen it closed.
Alhamdulillah I've just returned from umrah a few days ago. I came on a tourist visa. I was allowed to take zam zam with me. The person at the counter..mentioned only some airlines will allow me to take zam zam bag.
On arrival at the London heathrow airport..our zam zam was bought on the oversized conveyor belt. Mark it well so it doesn't get mixed up with anyone else's. With Saudia airlines u shld be fine In sha Allah

@ Sameera, Yes and No. According to the policy, you are not supposed to bring ZamZam with you on tourist visa but many people are still bringing it successfully. Some of them are being denied, some are not.

If you have converted to Islam, then you have every right just like any other Muslim. If your name on your passport is a non-Muslim name, I would suggest getting a signed letter from your local Masjid certifying that you have converted to Islam.
If you have not converted, then I am not so sure. I know non-Muslims can enter Madinah. (I am not talking about should or should not. I am saying that’s the reality) Non-Muslims are not stopped from entering Madinah. Unfortunately, I don’t know about renting an apartment / room for a long period.

Walaikum Salam,
Most people on tourist visa are allowed to take ZamZam but some have had different experiences. You will be allowed In Sha Allah but there’s no way to guarantee it beforehand. Simply buy the water at the airport and head to the airline’s counter. You will be ok In Sha Allah.
ভাইয়া কোনো কোম্পানি পানি বিক্রি করে না । যারা হজ্জ করতে যায়না । তারা কি কোনো ভাবে পানি কিনে দেশে আনতে পারবে
পানি কেনার জন্য হজ করা বাধ্যতামূলক নয়। অনেক বাংলাদেশী সৌদি আরবে কাজ করেন। তারা জেদ্দা বা মদিনা থেকে প্লেনে ওঠার আগে এয়ারপোর্ট থেকে পানি কিনতে পারেন।
