    Great tips, I too come from an an installation background and have been edging into repairs over the last 12 years, mainly after the recession, in 2008, though clearly I've had nothing like the exposure to repairs that you have attained. Not to say I don't do a good job, but your experience is an invaluable source of information for us all, and I've learned a lot from it. Many engineer's just want to get in and out quickly, but you show that you need to put the time in to find the fault. I think engineer's not only want to get in and out, but also as a cost saving for the punter, clearly that is not the way to go... anyway, waffle over, and keep uploading if you can, thanks!!!!

      Thanks. I didn't even notice the 2008 recession. I worked in central London every day at the time and not many customers were suffering.

      Im glad this video is still helping people. The boiler is quite rare and needs a bit of time to work out. :-)

    Hello !
    Thanks a lot for your videos, very instructing !
    I too have the F81-F91 fault code.
    When I turn off the boiler (deactivating the C), I still have randomly the fault code appearing every days or 2 days. Restarting the boiler “solves” the problem.
    Do you have any idea where it can come from ?
    Thanks !

      The shift load/shunt pump need to be replaced. This is the usual cause.

    I’m going to my 1st 937 tomorrow .. no hot water without heating
    My 1st thoughts would be diverter stuck in heating or how water ntc?
    But as I’m unfamiliar with the storage type combi’s I’m probably totally wrong

      @@zer0875 PCB board was changed under 2 years ago, plate has just been cleaned, I was going to look if diverter valve is working, is there a visable pin that you can see moving when you call for hot water, also a few weeks ago one of our radiators was warm even though there was no heating on

    Hi, I’m gas safe, my old man’s boiler 937 with knobs. No fault codes, boiler fires and then overheats. I’ve replaced the shunt pump, rubber hoses, completely stripped the whole hydraulics and found no blockage, nothing in plate etc. Help!

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  Рік тому

      So, you say it overheats but no fault codes. So i guess it's just noisy? What does the canoe filter look like? The plate heat x?Or the boiler pump? These are the things I would check. Otherwise it could be the main heat exchanger.

    • @kb5057
      @kb5057 Рік тому +1

      @@HeatingGeek thanks for the reply pal. So, after spending roughly 12 hours or so in total over two afternoons and evenings I got to the bottom of it. I unfortunately replaced the shunt pump, rubber hoses and diverter to find out but I got there. Inside the two DHW storage tanks are two PLASTIC filters, look like that hole-y cheese you can buy, a big debris filter of sort. Anyway, those had both crumbled due to the nature of heating and cooling for 10+ years and they were blocking waterways. I literally had the boiler and store in pieces and cleaned and checked everything and rebuilt it from almost scratch to find those pieces but once removed she is purring nicely now. One for the memory bank for sure although most would advise the customer to get a new boiler 🙄
      Cheers!

    Are these boilers know to reduce hw pressure because of their hw tank 🤔 ? Thanks for all your gret videos by the way

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  2 роки тому +1

      No, then water ways aer nice and big on these boilers. The only problem can be the dip tube collapsing causing low flow rate. I have a video on that issue. 🙂

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  4 роки тому +1

      yes it is pre 2012. The boiler logic and shift load/ shunt pump is the same. Works exactly the same on the hydraulics.

    • @leegearing3297
      @leegearing3297 4 роки тому

      @@HeatingGeek Mine was installed in 2012. The Load shift tank might be leaking on it as drips from the back left pipework when draw off, is that a full strip down?

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  4 роки тому +1

      @@leegearing3297 I have never had the tanks leak. Usually a leak on the back left that is coming from above is the little expansion vessel in the top of the tank unit. Accessed from above it can still be hard to see the leak but using your hand you can feel the 1/2" nut leaking.

    I don't like the look of the junction box under the boiler

    • @HeatingGeek

      Its there to soak up all the water that drips off the boiler. :-)
