- A look Mares Bolt BCD, is it any good after 2 years on the market ? Does it's price and features make it a smart buy ? We think it is!

Designed and made to be superbly comfortable and streamlined, it is great for travel, and with its mono-plate backpack, it can also support single or double tanks.
It comes with SLS weight and trim pockets will work with block or soft pouch weights.
The Mares Bolt SLS BCD is a giant step in the evolution of back mounted BCDs.
It feature 6 stainless steel D-rings for complete accessory attachment which is made of very tough 420 Cordura material, it will endure any exposure you submit it to and hold up to the test of time.

thanks again
Great video! have mine for almost 3 years and still looks brand new. Also it is very confortable.
But I have 2 issues/questions about it:
1) what would you recomend to avoid the "taco" formation on the bladder? any tip or simple modification to it?
2) the weight pockets are kind of loose on the system (not falling) and woud like it to be closer and tighter to the body. Would you recommend something?
I have a Bolt 1 and like MANY of the features, however, I am having 2 issues with the SLS system. As the handles are very prominent I have had 2 occasions that while on a safety stop chain in a river dive, simple side contact to the handle to the chain has caused the pocket to release. One other issue with the pocket is I have handed the pockets up to the boat (10LBS) the crew grabbed the pocket by the handle and the outer black/grey portion separates and the pocket with the red clip[ section went to the bottom. 2 possible improvements would be a safety cable keeping the separation issue from happening. A possible improvement to the SLS system would be a second safety to release to prevent accidental weight drop from incidental contact .
Thanks
Peter, I understand your comments and have passed them on to Mares.
what is Bolt 1? the one with the black sls handle?
Are there pockets for storage behind the removable weights? It looks like it, as there are sippers. But are they actually usable, or is there just the one pocket that is rolled up on the right down side?
The Bolt only has the one roll-down pocket, nothing behind the weight pockets.
@@DiversSupplyYT ok, thanks for the information
I am interested in how you would ad a second tank to the system. Do you need to change the backplate for that?
I think maybe you misunderstood that I posted add a 2nd tank strap, not a 2nd tank. Some folks like the security of having two straps securing their tank in place.
@@DiversSupplyYT Oh, alright. Yeah i misunderstood you then. Thanks for the fast reply!
@@donnerzinkerheinrich4449 No Problem !
You actually can add a second tank to it with a second strap. But no one recommends that 😅
@@diveinstructordaniel1095 Question for you, I was wondering if you could recommend a jacket style BC to run a twin set on? I really don't want to do the whole backplate type set up, I tried it with my buddys and it didn't feel right, I like the jacket style because at the surface and I inflate I float like a well balanced bobber....LOL
Are the weight pockets removable
Yes it is removable.
Bolts vs pure? Can you help me choose? Couldn't tell the differences from the videos on youtub :(
I agree they are very similar... which do you like and why ?
@@DiversSupplyYT Didn't try both, but through UA-cam videos the bolt seemed to have a slight edge with the velcro cummerbund which may increase stability. It seems also to have better lumbar support. But that's just a guess from videos.
You "finally" answer the question at 7 minutes. Answer "Yeah, it will be fine." *according to him. Don't waste your time on an entire review.
Thanks for your note, did you read the video description....
