This was one of the craziest endings to a game I have ever seen, simply because of the shift of emotion. It's not often that you see both fan bases experience the pure joy of a last second win, coupled with a heartbreaking loss, in the very same game.
@@karencarter4072 you are STUPID and of course your name is Karen. The clock starts once ball is set, it took LSU 2 seconds to snap. You don’t understand what you are talking about
I was at this game and I remember watching the clock hit zero and then glancing back to the field and LSU hadn't snapped it yet so I knew we'd won. What I didn't realize was just how much the replay booth bailed out the officials. Hubert Owens' crew made an absolute mess of the ending of this game. I understand letting the play go on in that situation, but how did no one notice that Travin Dural (#83) was not even close to getting set before the snap? That should be a false start penalty and a 10-second runoff, game over. It's no wonder SEC officials get so much criticism from fans when they can't even apply the basics. It worked out this time but someone gets screwed every year.
What a lot of people didnt realize is LSU's quarterback passed the line of scrimmage before he passed the ball. So LSU would have lost this game regardless.
Carlton Davis was perhaps the best DB Auburn has had in the 21st Century. As an Auburn fan I remember with awe Leonard Fournette at LSU. As a Tampa Bay fan I get to watch him with awe AND pure joy! Lol
This one is yet another one of those miracles at Jordan-Hare stadium! We've all heard it said "it ain't over til it's over." Well, this game is where that expression was first coined. 😅
I remember being so pissed then happy then pissed again. After all is said and done I’m happy things worked out the way they did. LSU with Ed Orgeron is now competing on a national level again while auburn could be good but is coming off a mediocre season.
I thought it was too until i read that it is a legal pass as long as ANY part of his body is on or behind the line when he throws, so i guess it was legal
Gus was just stubborn and inconsistent. When his offense was "on" it could be quite amazing. Unfortunately that was maybe once or twice a year. When it was bad, it was terrible.
It should've ended because the offense did an illegal shift and that's a 10 second runoff, and that last play never should've happened... "WINNERS DON'T CHEAT AND CHEATERS DON'T WIN "
Boy, you talk about trying to job a team out of a win. Whoever was in charge of this officiating crew should have been fired for all of the blatant mistakes made on that final series of plays.
Are you saying that over turning that final play was a bad decision? The only reason they should have been fired is if they didn’t overturn that last play lol.
@@Covey7342 Sorry I'm late on this, never realized you'd replied. But what I meant was that the play should have never happened to begin with. First of all, there should have been a 10 second runoff which should have resulted in the game being over right then and there, but then the guy CLEARLY didn't get the snap off in time and they allowed the play to go anyway. It's almost like the referees had money on LSU or something.
MrJLov13 the booth overturned it though as they usually do when it comes to the time. The refs also let auburn get away with being offsides several times. The bad calls go both ways
A couple times on that last drive you had 2 receiver fighting for 3 or 4 extra yards instead of getting out of bounds. It’s like the rats getting the cheese, just cannot help themselves, situational football wins.
LES was the cfb poster child for horrible clock management. I hate prevent defenses!!! Incompotent officiating...How these refs allowed that play to happen is mind blowing!
So I had it backwards. An illegal shift is defined as a live ball penalty, NOT a dead ball penalty. Mike Pereira explains: ua-cam.com/video/qkaHDrn79Xc/v-deo.html
Pitiful officiating and even worse annoucers. Man, at least call the game. Why not rule the play dead. I MEAN COME ON MAN. I am a LSU fan and this was one of the worst games ever for officials, they should of all been fired.
Pass was legal. The rule states the entire body has to be across the LOS to warrant illegal pass. Clock went to zero before the snap, which was the correct call.
Both coaches knew that last play would decide if they kept their job

In most instances re: 01 second left, the officials usually allow one play to complete.

My wife and I's first Auburn game. I've been an Auburn fan since 2003, but this game was awesome. War Eagle forever

There should have even been a false start at 9 seconds prior to the final play with a 10-second runoff.
I had to work that night, so I was pacing around and refreshing my play-by-play.
I I went Auburn
The final nail in the coffin for les miles
Yep and now he just left Kansas lol
Whenever I watch videos like this I get chills

Wrong. Read the rules. It was not past the line of scrimmage as he still had parts of his body behind the line.
@@Darkhalo314 not the rules lil man. if any part of your body is in contact with the GROUND past the line of scrimmage then you will get a flag.
Hell the WR was still moving as well 😂
I remember watching this. First thing I noticed was the receiver wasn’t set again. There was so much that was wrong with that last play.
I remember that game because it was my very first game I've ever attended. War Eagle forever 🦅

Heartbroken how this ended..how much things have changed since...best thing to happen to us maybe

that was close for auburn. bummer for lsu.
Clock at zero happens in the NFL all the time. Ref looks at the clock and then the ball.

It was a forward pass also
colin walton xTRUE THANK YOU FOR REALIZING IT
I thought it was too until i read that it is a legal pass as long as ANY part of his body is on or behind the line when he throws, so i guess it was legal
Three things wrong with the play:
1.) Game clock ran out
2.) WR to the left side was not set, False Start
3.) Illegal Forward Pass
I didn’t realize that
Isn’t this the game auburn won with all field goals? They didn’t score a touchdown ?
Yes they scored twice as many FGs as LSU did on Alabama in 2011.
