Hi from Aus. I am a child of the 60s and the green pot thingy with holes in it is definitely the top part of a coffee pot. We had one exactly the same! Same colour same size etc. I love you guys and was excited to see a notification from you and can’t wait for more 😃
I was thinking the same thing! I live in the US and have seen old metal ones here!
Agree! I have a Porcelier drip coffee from the 40's, a bit heavier but same concept!
I think you are right. McCormick teapots had a similar insert for making loose leaf tea. I have bracelets like the one that was found.
@@lindaahlgrim1331 not a tea strainer insert cos the one Josie found had handles on it once upon a time. My nan's coffee pot had the handles on either side 😃
Thanks so much Carla, mystery solved! It does have that vibrant 60s green colour to it 😍x
Absolutely brilliant to see you back on the screen after tech break down☹and in the creek my favourite place to watch you explore. I love the mini cod bottle and the transferware lid. 😊😊
Hello Julia, the creek is so relaxing to wander up and it always seems to reward our muddy efforts 😍
Really enjoying your content. One of the top mudlarking channels on UA-cam. 🥇
Oi oi ! Thanks for the lovely feedback x
👍👌👏 DEFINITELY !
I'm particularly fond of the poisons... the bright colors, the printed warnings, the small size factor. And they seem to clean up better than a lot of the other bottles. Would love to see a photo of your collection!
the mini cod is 1 of your best this week. i love that you appreciate a good pickle jar. most mud-larkers ignore them & they are beautiful & could be so useful for storage today.
I agree I think pickle jars are some of the most easily re purposed. The colours and uneven necks just make them even better. Take care 😀 x
ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE CHANNEL FOR PLAYING IN THE MUD JOSIE YOU AND YOUR DAD ARE THE BEST HUNTING DUO ON UA-cam Y'ALL KEEP IT INTERESTING AND VERY FUNNY THE WHOLE VIDEO SUCH LEGENDS LET'S GO 😄 👏
Much appreciated Jerry ☺️👍
Josie has so much positive energy it's infectious
Hello from Ontario, Canada....nice to see you guys enjoying the creek again and finding some wonderful treasures. I think Mama Mudpie should make an appearance at some point...lol...no pressure !! Love the way that you end your videos with an appearance of your sweet kitty ! Take good care. xx
Thanks Wanda, it's one of our favourite spots 🙂. Moma mudpie is pretty camera shy so it's tough to get her into a video. As for our cat Jaffa, she's happy to be centre of attention in any and every video!!!😂 Take care and thank you as always x
So glad you guys are back in the mud. Love from Canada 🇨🇦
Welcome back! I was _literally_ looking through your recent videos impatiently looking forward to a new video.
Technical problems fixed....for the moment, finds and banter on! Hope you enjoy it 👍😀
Hiya Josie and Andy!
I’m glad that the malfunctioning of the GoPro didn’t stop your adventure because I really like that Gin bottle. It’s not my favorite, but definitely 4th place. It’s got a really beautiful color and I loved hearing about the history from Andy. 3rd is the mystery printed relish lid. 2nd is the Poison. And of course, the bubbly Wood’s mini Codd is such an brilliant color. This has to be the best find. Plus the happy dance Andy did was top notch! ⭐️
Could the green thing be a planter?
The horn could be more than you think. Have you ever heard of a Spirit Trumpet? Spiritualists would use them during seances to contact ‘the other side’. Pretty spooky. The horn is probably from a boat, I just thought Spirit Trumpet when I saw it.
Loved the video! Looking for next squelching adventure! Be well
Hello there JT. Not heard of a spirit trumpet before! I think any spirits on this stretch of creek would surely have frozen because it was so cold!!! We don't find codd bottles so often so this cute one was really appreciated. Take care and see you soon 😃👍
Have to say the poisons were top finds for me as I shivered from the sounds of the wind whistling past. I'm curious if you've ever tried metal detecting the areas that produce your Roman pottery shards? I'd love to see you find a fibula (pin, not the bone).
Hello there, we have yet to try metal detecting. We keep saying how we need to try it out. Funnily enough this creek produces quite a few metal finds...as long as Dad doesn't lose them 😂
Dear @@Mudpies family
👍👌👏😁😁😁😁
2) Please kindly allow me a suggestion: TA Outdoors just showed his new metal detectors (big and small) in the newest video. He said that this type was known as the easiest to operate. Maybe it's also something that suits you and maybe you can even talk to him.
Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.
I think the lid is the top find. good to see you back in the mud..stay safe..VIC..
Oioi thanks Vic, really happy with this find, especially with its unusual ‘non print’ how’ve you been?
@@Mudpies I'm doing oky i had covid late last year but I'm back on the hunt for more finds...
Hey guys! I love that creek, always great finds! That small Cod bottle is amazing, but my favorites are the blue bottles.❤ I can't tell if that bracelet is copper, but my dad wore one similar to it for his arthritis. The mystery item might be off a stackable coffee pot. My parents had one in the 60's and the filter part sat on top of the pot, it looked very much like yours except ours was blue and still had the handles.
Hello Carin, I'm pretty sure the bracelet is brass and judging by the size made for a smaller wrist. Interesting idea about the straining pot thingie, that green colour has a 60s feel to it. Take care 😀
Yes. I looked it up. That's exactly what it is.
My favorite find is finding any Mudpies video I haven’t seen yet
Brilliant stuff!!!! love the Blue Rolled Lip bottle......CHEERS from Mississippi USA
Hi guys great to see you once again, you make creek and mud walking look so easy. Keep looking one day a beautiful green coloured bottle with the shape of a torpedo will pop up in front of you, come on Josie you can do it. Cheers from the land of blazing heat.
Josie & Dad, so glad you are back. We do miss you. Loved your finds. It is so intriguing to see what you find. Love from New Zealand.
I LOVE how happy you were when u found that Codd bottle. Awesome lark
😍😃
Hello to you both... I know the feeling about the day jobs...and general life... leisure time just goes out the window sometimes 🤦♀️. In the same situation and only now catching up on my favourite mudlarking, detecting and beach combing adventures... obviously I went straight to you first! What an amazing video, thank you so much. I love the horn thing and no doubt will spend the whole day going through the comments as I'm really intrigued to see what others can tell you about the lid and the green Edwardian shaker find. I'm maybe thinking a flour shaker? 🤷♀️. Anyway, take care and can't wait for the next adventure. ... Will check out your other channels' next adventure too!
LOVE your tiny blues! Your ability to spot the little things in the muck is amazing ☆ I'd think the sifter thing could have been used for sprinkling powdered sugar on top of deserts... that's my guess, at least! Keep on adventuring!!
Maybe the mystery kitchen item would've been used for dusting powdered sugar?
A delightful wander up the creek once again.Great finds and and as always , feel as though I am right there squelching through the mud beside you..Always a great day when your video pops up.Greetings from NZ.
I love the tiny bottles especially the little blue poison. Those are my favorites 😍 ❤️
Love you guys glad y'all are back.
Love watching your videos and channel, one of my favourites. It's been a month since your last video, I hope all's well. I look forward to seeing you soon XX.
Excellent video! Thank you for taking us on your adventures. My fav is the cod bottle. I believe a company in Japan is doing them again!
My faves .... the mini Codd bottle, because of it's perfect condition and having such an intense aqua color, also the mini blue bottle, because it's so miniature and the only one I've seen with that particular flared lip. The copper bracelet was an interesting find. People have worn them for hundreds of years to stave off arthritic pain. The green container could have been part of a water filter, or perhaps it held veggies or olives, and that container sat inside of another container that held pickling brine, using clamps of some sort, to lift it out of the one that held the brine? Simply guessing. ( :
Love that creek, nice pot lid. Josie love your biking vids but I do have to hold my breath when your hands are of the handle bars 😲… New Forest was beautiful 🐴❤
I love the Codd and it's colour is fabulous! But I think my fave is the tiny blue fkared top medicine. Great vid guys, sad the gopro decided it didn't like the cold quite as much as the pair of you!
Great finds. Love the mini cod and lid and everything. Im happy to see you two back on the mud. Toot doodle loo🙂🙃🙂
Imagine if you will that the green mystery item is older than Georgian, and it becomes a wig powder container dispensing powder on the lord of the manor's wig. OR it could be Georgian and it is for powdering the wigs of your British barristers. No? okay it holds powdered sugar in a bakery.
The button was my favourite find even though you lost it! 😂 I love the small finds! Hope you find more buttons!
Hellooooo! My favorite is the cod although I'd be happy to find any of them. 😋
Cheers!
Heather
So glad you went to the creek. Great finds, love the blue poisons and the cod. I really like my witches bottles. 😍
This week, I think my favorite is the bracelet. I like the really personal connection things like that have and you have to wonder how old they are and how they ended up in the creek. It could be almost any age. What did it mean to the maker and the wearer? Were they the same person? Was it a secret token? Was it half of a pair? Who knows? So many things to dream about found in the mud.
Nice to see you both back in the mud🙃 did a quick search on that mystery green with no handles n looks like it's part of a Chinese style tea set. Don't take it as set in stone, just what Google most guest..🤪😎
I have bracelets like the one you found but mine are sterling silver. I know copper ones are sold to help with arthritis.
My favorite things are the cod bottle and the poison bottles! I think I like them because of the color and they are few and far between! I’ve also seen people find green ones! One time I think don’t quote me someone found an amber poison!? It was definitely worth the wait! Can’t wait for the next one. Keep them coming!
🙋🏼♀️🇺🇸🥰🙏🏻
Just to keep taking us along for the ride. Also great to see your great family dynamics!
Hey guys! Miss you both! When are we going to see a new video? Hope all well you both!
🙋🏼♀️🇺🇸🙏🏻
Hello both! Love the mini cod, it’s perfect. Love watching to see your finds.
The tide is like a big washing machine comes in and goes out 2 times a day free help is what I call it I did the same every tide moves the sediment off the bottom of the river well done
Yes, there is something very relaxing about walking in the creek, I love the sound of it! That twisted bracelet did it for me, an unexpected find, and you two brave souls, it looked super cold! 💐💐
Could the green 'cup' be some kind of filter for one of the old style water dispensers?
That green thing is the top part of a coffee pot. We had one when I was a child. A linen sock was inserted into the filter then the coffee granules was added into it. It was then filled with boiled water so it can sips through.
Loved all the finds, especially the lid! And I love everything that you guys do, all the adventures😊
About muddy time! Where have you been? 🤣 great finds 👍
😂 after many tech breakdowns we are back!!
The green cup strainer for tea or coffee it sets on top of cup as you put hot water in the strainer to drip through in to cup.👍🍀🇺🇸
The mystery item looks like a super old flour sifter my grandmother used when I was little. I am a stoneware girl so you have a good idea of my favorite, but love the blue rolled lip bottle too! So nice to see you in the MUD!!!
This channel deserves to be at 100k subs and then some let's go 😤 👏
Cracking lid and codd that's a great dig
😀😀😀
I love the tiniest blue poison bot, with its unusual funnel-ish shaped top.
Oh, man, it looks so cold! Good on you two for getting out there.
Interesting, there is a town 20 minutes from me, Maidstone, Saskatchewan. I am guessing it was likely named in honour of said locale in England.
More than likely, it is interesting to see the spread of place names and work out their origins! 😀
Love kitty cameo!! ❤
On my Codd!!! What a beauty. Loved the poisons too. Looked bloody cold out there. Will be bringing the Mudpies beanie in April. Great to see you both up the creek having a paddle. All the best from Melbourne. Cheers Dazza.
Oi oi Dazza! It really was perishingly cold, from the Northerly wind. Not long till you're here on the foreshore 👍😀 Take care.
Excellent video and wonderful finds guys! Love the lid and the poisons 😀💗 x
I always love joining you guys on your hunts! Thanks
What's the little bitty bottle on the audience right? 🤔
Yaaay you're back!!!! Great stuff today!!! From the middle of the Mojave Desert in California!! EDIT: The link to second channel says page not available. I will try later.
Thanks for the feedback, we've just changed it and it should work now. Take care 😀 x
@Mudpies Yes, it worked and I have subscribed! Thank you ❤️
I love the variety of your finds. I love the lid.
Friday night was the coldest this year in my part of Ontario Canada. Minus 29C
I’m happy to see you both out sloshing around in the creeks.
Your finds were incredible and a great start to your season.
I echo your faves and regret not seeing the button. Haha
Minus 29😳!!! Good grief that's unthinkable and puts our chilly day in perspective. Take care 😀 x
Oh, how I have been waiting for this! Lets go!
Have you guys ever thought of getting a few metal detectors. You probably already know some good spots
Hello there, it's on our list to try this summer 😃 x
Hi guys, the brilliant pot lid is for bloater paste 😊 love your vids, thanks for taking me with you out in the mud
Thanks Debi 👍😀
Fantastic! My guilty pleasure
Hi Guys. I am guessing it may be a flour shaker. Great video BTW.
Cheers Markos 😀
Have you ever thought of digging out the mud walls of that stream. I'll bet you would find a lot of really great treasures.
I'm sure it's full of treasures....but we'd be a bit concerned about promoting erosion of the river bank. We will just have to bide our time and let time and tide do the work for us. Take care 😀
Hello! It could be me but the link to Josie's channel takes you to a UA-cam error page.
I’ve changed it , should work now! Thank you for letting me know x
Great finds, love the blue bottles. Thanks for another great video.
Our pleasure 😊
Love the mini Codd, the small blue bottles and the printed jar lid. Great job!
Cheers Greg 😃
I was wondering if the long pointy thing could be an old hearing aid aid? They would put the small end in the ear and you would talk into the bigger end?
It looks a bit like one of these but fairly certain by the faded chrome finish that it's a boat horn 👍🙂
I think the green 'thing' is a tea strainer. Found a few here in Holland, not sure about the age....
A few people have suggested tea strainer, take care 😀 x
Terrific mudlark again. nice pickle jar, love the relish jar lid. Love the rolled lip piece. Stay warm👋👍
Thanks so much 😀👍
@@Mudpies Your welcome 👋👍
So enjoyable.Love watching you two.What a great relationship. Keep on squelching.Magpies Rule.x
Oh, forgot to mention , LOVE THE BONSAI!
🌳😍
Hey Guys! The Mrs. and I have been watching you for a few months now... We're hooked and love what you do but we love MORE the relationship between you two! It's great to see! Dad... well done!!!! Miss J is bright, intelligent, well spoken and has a zest for life. By chance have you identified the green "kitchen item"? It looks like a Cheese Strainer. Moist, liquified cheese was placed in something like this and the excess fat would drain through the holes. The boat horn also looks like a hearing tube... Take care, and thanks for bringing some enjoyment into our lives every couple of weeks!!! BTW, I started a UA-cam Channel about a year ago - Escape Reality Hobbies. It's slow going, but it's fun. - Tom
Cracking haul guys! We always enjoy your creek walks! Love the rolled lip blue one. Our GoPro conked out in the last dive too because of the cold. Apparently there is some sort of “Enduro” battery which copes better which we are looking in to!
It's a small one! I've stolen Dad's cod! Really gave me a laugh! Seriously though it was a great find. I love the lid as well and I always love the stoneware! Oi..oi from Australia! 😍❤️
Oi oi Mudpies! Catching up on your adventures now I'm free from book writing! I think the amazing pot lid is an 'off the rail' item rather than 'made to measure' that is, you ordered a generic lid and added your own paper label. All the best!
Hello I'm from Brazil I also do these hunts good luck
Oi oi boa sorte! 👍😀
@@Mudpies amém
Enjoyable video ☺ 👍
Well I am dying to know what it means on the mystery pot lid where it says "An excellent relish for breakfast luncheon & C " what is the "c"???
I asked on a Facebook group as I was intrigued too! The only theory put forward so far is this... "Is it possible that "&c" was used to mean etcetera? Nowadays we would use "Etc", but back then, maybe &c was the more direct way to go 🙂"
@@sorinamacgregor-portlock8869 I like your theory!
Love watching your videos keep dropping them brilliant videos 😁
Enjoying y’all’s channel from across the pond in North Carolina! Y’all find some absolutely beautiful pieces!!
That cod bottle is really cool. Thanks for your adventure even with the gopro mishaps. All the best.
Fun. Fun. Fun. Thank you.
Hello 👋 from New York USA you Guy's found Some Amazing Finds my Favorite Definitely Was the Little COD Bottle the Green Coffee strainer and the Gin three part mold Bottle Thank you for Bringing me Along with you Guy's I can't wait to see What you Guy's find next 😀 😊
………. see, by the dawns early light. 😉🇺🇸😂 Greetings from Germany 🙋🏻♀️
Blue Cobalt bottles. Love them. In the U.S.A I'm hoping I'll find one to buy. Probably yard sale. Nobody's giving those up. Nowhere to dig where I live.
Not to be a contrarian, Andy, but I yelled at the screen when you didn't take that little oval glass pot.😮😝 I bet Mama Mudpie would've loved it. 😁 I was also very drawn to the rolled lip jar in front of Josie. It seems like an oddball. As always, I adore white pottery, so the 2 large marms were on my faves list too. Wonderful to see you both, and I can really sympathize with the frigid temps. 🤗 We've just had a week under the Polar Vortex in Ontario. 🥶🥶 Take care and stay warm. 🧥👖🧦🧤🥾🥰See you next time. 😁💛👋👍
Hi! Your lid is nearly the same as the 1st one I ever found, 1974! Mine said Bloater Paste and there is Anchovy example too along with your blank label one. Those 3 are relatively common, there maybe rarer variants if memory serves. It’s ‘Thistle Brand’ unsurprisingly and the ‘&co. is older version of Etc. It threw me for years! Thank you for so much vicarious pleasure, I loved this hobby, it taught
me so much. Keeping the balance…..😊
The metal detectorist in my loves the bracelet, nice find!
Oh to find a gold one!🙂
I'm guessing flour sifter for your cup. Favorite item the bracelet amazingly enough it just calls to me. You guys find whatever finds you. Love your videos. Thanks for the adventure!
Hello 👋 Loving all your finds from the video, super glad that it's now up and working okay. The little cod's colour is beautiful, just like the stunning pickle jars that I am so excited about to arrive from Mr postmen soon.
Again, thank you for taking the time to show us all what you guys do. I've learnt so much as I'm sure others have too.
💙
I was so happy to see a video posted today! My favorite find was that incredibly beautiful trumpet/horn. Probably I love it because it is so different from the normal finds. Good hunting.
Able to comment now that we have dried off the screen - an unfortunate coffee related incident when viewing the 'Tragic Button Loss of Feb 2023'....made us laugh properly out loud! It's what we love so much about your videos....the excitement, friendship, mutual respect....and the laughs. Once again - another wonderful half hour of astonishing finds, some education and a giggle. Thank you so much 🙂
Perhaps your mystery double handled cup was for sprinkling water on laundry before they pressed it.... ? Just a guess .....I enjoy your videos! I want to see your moms' shelves of little things!
Oi oi Josie and Andy, another fab haul! Loving the teeny blue poison the most, I adore teeny bottles! Cracking vid you legends! 😁😁 Xx
Late hello from Florida USA. Your relish lid was pretty exciting!! I always like the odd things that you find. Roman finds are very cool. Can't wait for the next video. Am with you all in spirit. After my own heart. I have always been an eyes on the ground looker. Y'all take care 👩🦳🌺🐊
