My friend, a little advice for further review: dissemble device to check the materials if you are not sure. You are a reviewer, where can we get information about the device if not from you? Russ made it: it’s metal plate I like how you are presenting your thoughts and your style, but please consider more things to do with the reviewed device
Discovered your channel with the previous Brick video, and WOW your channel is a breath of fresh air! Your personality shines in these videos, it’s a lot of fun to watch. I think this is the first retro channel where I’m gonna watch every video whether I’m interested in the device being reviewed or not, it’s just too entertaining. Great work!!
I think the reason why we keep purchasing these handhelds is the crave for a handheld feel of the device, there's no way for us to preview and sample these devices in person unless we know someone with one lol
This I true I pulled it apart the other day. I don’t think it gets that warm in comparison to some other handhelds we got this year. It might just be feeling safer that it’s not hot because it’s using the battery as a heatsink.
Dude...Vlad's reviews are true emotional roller coasters. They have deep lows but deep highs too. "I am so in love with this I am gonna buy all the colors!" 😄💖 I ordered the black. Classic safe choice and looks awesome.
The dpad and OS comments swayed me to buy the miyoo mini plus after choosing between the two. On paper everything says trimui but by the sounds the miyoo mini should be the one that wants me to pick up and play. Hopefully wont regret it!
Extra props for the Stargate reference. Y'know this reminded me, I had a girl speak to me on the subway train way back when I first got the GBA SP, she was pretty curious about it. Also, I was shy and awkward and failed to capitalize (sigh) To be young and clueless again.
Lol how is it different in potential from dozens of other consoles? They all have same CPUs more or less, same memory. This one only different with the screen, but how is community related lol
@@adamkane7513 if it works on the smart pro it going to work on this it's the same CPU etc. like all anbernic 'xx' devices. They all supported by same cfw.
This is an honest review, thank you. The D-pad is extremely uncomfortable, and my thumb starts to hurt after just 5 minutes of playing a Zelda game. I can't understand why Russ from Retro Game Corps spoke so positively about the controls, as I see this as a significant flaw.
Now you're just teasing me Vlad, with my Trimui Brick stuck in the middle of a black hole called Canada Post and a country wide postal strike. This sucks man.
Got the r36s, a30 and Brick, they are mostly toys, the brick SoC geekbench is equal to my old 2014 HTC One m7 high end android. And performance is pretty similar indeed if you root Android and tweak CPU governor to "performance". A 2019 medium range Sony XZ1 runs way better. They have a meaning as portable gameboy/color/advance players or some snes/md/ps1 portable gaming here and there.
I previously bought the Trimui Smart Pro and the clock was wonky, it was hard to set the region, and it refused to stick to the time I set it (would keep auto-jumping ahead by 6h). And the clock would stop when i power off the device and only resume from where it left off when I power back on. Do you notice this issue with the Trimui Brick?
I saw your unboxing video of this one and kept asking myself what would came out of it. Astonishing job reviewing it, specially the part about "don't get it if you don't want/need it", which is a way more than we used to see around here in the internet of things - should be called ADnet at this point. And looks like the suspicious i commented in the previous Brick video were confirmed by both, you and Russ (despite something in Russ' long review format always end up putting me into a quick nap and i need to come back another time to watch): the metal plate on top gets warm and isn't just above the SoC, but in contact with it through a thermal pad, so that is what dissipate the CPU heat, impacting directly more heavy stuff you could try to run on it, making the plate hot to the touch while it "try to keep the chip cool" (passively). Now that i got the more technical Russ and spirited Vlad reviews, i'm just eager to see the puns and all the jokes Techdweeb would bring about this little guy if he do it too.
Great review, I am so on the fence with this, I really want one, but I already have a MM+ and a V10. I am also waiting for the Miyoo Flip!! Do I really need 4 of them in the end. hahaha
Pfff.. this is a hard one. Honestly, I think you'd be really happy with either. It's more of a "extra performance vs OnionOS" kind of debate. Argghhhhh, can't choose. :(
About the dpad, it really depends on the type of games you are playing. Miyoo Mini's dpad is one of the worst for tank control games (like Resident Evil/Dino Crisis/Silent Hill/Parasite Eve etc). My thumb gets sooo tired after 5 minutes of trying to hit diagonals while moving the character and still sometimes I fail to turn. Anbernic's dpads are way better for these types of games.
LMFAO Vlad, you literally started your video explaining handhelds like the song You make me wanna... by Usher. If you are unfamiliar, please look up the lyrics 😂.
MY NERDS, in case you haven't: Do me *a solid* and please like and subscribe. The channel is small this helps me a whole lot. Thanks. ❤

"Do you know that place where you start a new relationship... "
Let me stop you right there. No. No I don't. That's never happened to me.
Relationships are meh. Less time to enjoy retro games and setting devices up. That's where true happiness is. ❤️
New viewer. Love your sense of humor.
Its metal. Retrogamecorps Russ took it apart and its connected to the CPU with thermal pad to use as a heatsink. It can get quite hot
Awesome, thanks for the confirmation!

It’s metal brother, mine came with extras for customizing. When you pull it apart it becomes pretty obvious. Great video

I ordered the black. Classic safe choice and looks awesome.
Good call. I got white and I wish I'd ordered black. I actually can't remember why I picked white in the first place 😅😭
I have Cross-MixOS on my Brick. It is pretty awesome, pretty much the same as the TSP.
The dpad and OS comments swayed me to buy the miyoo mini plus after choosing between the two.

I'll wait for the purple one, and see how's the d-pad fix or not.
Thats a good plan. I will do the same 😅

8:17 that Dreamcast bug is happening with the stock OS on Smart Pro too, even with bios files on the right place.
I purchased the white one, it arrives in like 2 weeks ❤
EDIT: This thing has a LOT of potential for custom OS made by the community.
Onion OS keeps my *Miyoo Minis* being my most used handhelds.
I hope the *Trimui Brick* gets a good CFW that can rival it.

Load minUI on it, it’s genuinely amazing. It doesn’t have ports or N64 but man the function button stuff is awesome
Do you know if the bluetooth audio will work with the airpods pro gen 2? Main reason I haven't bought another vertical handheld yet.

What size hands do you have?
Russ is fairly small.
Controls are very personal thing

Yeah, similar thing with the rg40xx. Sooo stiff

If it makes you feel any better, Crossmix is now out for the Brick. Now you get to flash it from day one. 😄
This is why I'm waiting for the red to be in stock, as a Canadian I knew I'd be waiting until January for it anyway

I cant imagine a case where I'd use this over my rg35xxSP.
But at least the Brick has a better name!
I got mine in and I absolutely love it...however...it has developed two stuck pixels. I tried troubleshooting, but the pixels are still stuck :(

Freaking awesome review vlad. Just one thing, hope you don't take it the wrong way, I think you meant flaws instead of defects.
You're absolutely right. It was bad phrasing on my end. :)
Thanks Yea Vlad! Life is full of compromises and trade off's. One has to make.
Hi Vlad, would you recommend this over the miyoo mini+ or rg35xxSP as daily driver EDC (everyday carry) retro handheld?
Pfff.. this is a hard one. Honestly, I think you'd be really happy with either. It's more of a "extra performance vs OnionOS" kind of debate.

How is wipeout pure showing 4:3?
23:06 Realest part of the video.
Just ordered mine
The plan is two buy the purple and the white for now lol
20:00 Wipeout Pure works well on this??
Works pretty ok with frameskip set to 1. :)
Looks realy cute and good. Can I throw it at someone if I dont like this human? It's a brick or? Will it break? 😂❤ Trimui rocks again!
The lack of sticks alone makes it not great. Fighting games suffer from that.
You are too funny😂

4:43 The leds are probably more of a girl-repellent than anything. Lol 😂
Over heating is a deal breaker
I think you mean ZED P M.
the rg406v is ugly tho... so... at least its not aesthetically better
