Please Please please please react to Halloween 2018 maybe the series up to 6 the rest terrible and maybe check out the movie hereditary the Scariest movie I've seen
For information. Cloning has been possible for a long time. In 1996, humans managed to clone the first mammal. Dolly the sheep was born. So it is not at all far-fetched, if not theoretically possible today to clone a human being. It is already being done with organs.
The only thing that still prevents humans from cloning people is the ethical aspect.
About Alien Resurrection, Ripley has no Queen Xenomorph in her, She IS a Queen Xenomorph.
*you are a beautiful cpl.
"That guy's so weird"
Welcome to the wonderful world of Brad Dourif.
I've never seen him in a role where he wasn't playing some kind of weirdo. He's a great actor though.
So we either need a DUNE or MISSISSIPPI BURNING reaction ? : )
French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet wouldn't make things saner.
@@The_Bermuda_Nonagon Nah, just every episode of Deadwood.
I love Brad Dourif.
A bit of well known trivia: Sigourney Weaver indeed played basketball when she was at Stanford, and the long distance "swish" she makes in this is REAL -- and she was PISSED that the full trajectory of the ball wasn't fully in the frame.
My favorite Alien movie, not the best like the others but spécial: comédie, action, gore, fantastic, more fun ... love the cast too ....
Your editing + your wife’s face when you did the 20th century Fox intro
Dude your both legends
Plus I’ve noticed how you drop random Dumb and dumber or Jim Carrey quotes in many vids
This film is a lot of more fun if you regard it as a non-canon spin-off rather than part of the main series.
Joss Whedon's writing is horrible but Jean-Pierre Jeunet's direction is amazing, so you end up with this weird hybrid of campy schlock and masterful art horror that has both too much and too little personality for it's own good.
Joss whedon, when he write. It's gonna be campy.....
Director wanted more humor but something was lost in translation , french speaking director , english speaking cast .
Also calling , Brad Dourif , weird , that is an understatement ...hope they get soon to Chucky series .
People think they can write like Dan O'Bannon , they cant , specially not Ridley Scott , who added parts that were trashed from Alien movie to Prometheus .
Theatrical version of Alien series movies have been better , lot of nonsense cut away , scenes that were not needed at all to get the story going .
Although Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a good director, I don't think he was a good cast/fit to the Alien franchise. His overall style doesn't fit with the universe. Plus using the same actors he worked before, The color grading that is very part of his style and many other things just make this more of a Jeunet movie rather then a Alien sequel. So the "spin-off" is a good description.
Plus the writing is horrible, too campy, a cast that is basically there just to die, not much story arcs or character development. Ripley has none of the things that made her a great character, so the point of her being in the movie is... Zero really. A schlockfest indeed.
What ADI did to the alien design in this movie is also unforgiveable. Giger called the creatures "a giant shit." And also the huge disrespect this film showed to Giger as the creator of the creature that made them so much money. Seriously. They took all the "mech" out of the biomechanoid design, flattened and shorted the phallic shaped head, and gave the dome of the head a cockroach pattern.... Why!? I know, I know, the argument is because they're mutants.
As to Joss Whedon's script... Reading the script, and watching the movie, they are very different. Whedon doesn't have this ridiculous humor in his version. If anything his script feels almost like a buffy movie with the way Ripley discovers her alien powers and realizes she can contend with the creatures. The newborn in his film is also much different, and there is far more character-action. In the final film there is one major set piece featuring an adult alien (The elevator shaft after the flooded cafeteria.) and then they adult aliens all but dissappear from the movie as major atagonists.
The vast majority of the faults of Resurrection lie with Jean Pierre Jeunet. Yes, he's a great director, but not here. This is not an Alien movie. I'm still not sure why Weaver opted to do it, given she was so adament to die in Alien 3.
"How'd she go from being the rational one to being an Idiot?"
Joss Whedon's awful writing.
I won't deny the script was weak, but this actually had an explanation: Call is programmed to care about humans so she wants to try and save hum. She doesn't see Ripley as human so she's not covered by that same programming.
@@timemonkey yea i figured it was some programm element that made her not trust ripley on the even slight deviation from human to alien dna.
In Prometheus, at the beginning with David and the basketball, I always smiled thinking it was a nice call-back to this flick.
As much as people did not like Alien Resurrection; I kinda like Superhuman Clone Ripley :)
I always wanted to go one on one with Ripley, no basketball required.
_"Prometheus_ and _Covenant_ are on par with _Alien_ and _Aliens."_
Well, that's, like, your opinion, man.
Fun behind-the-scenes bit: During the filming of the basketball scene, the director told Sigourney Weaver to throw the ball over her shoulder as she walked off the court, and they would fix the shot in post. First take, she tossed it behind the back, over the shoulder, and it went in. No FX needed. The actors and crew held it together for a second or two, then they all busted out cheering. Sigourney Weaver is a legend.
The Dude abides!
For me this one has the most rewatchability. I don't care what anyone says, I love alien resurrection 😂
This is a great movie, much superior to Prometheus and Alien Covenant!
@@Talisman09 For entertainment value I will give it to this one. When it comes to making sense within the world it's in or anything else along that line it's not good so depending on what you come to a movie for you could either be very happy or pissed.
@@parker469a I also enjoyed the phantom menace. Sue me 😁
I LOVE this movie. I love Sigourney's look, how athletic she is, I like the rest of the cast, I love the story and Brad Dourif is in it!
I'm in two minds about this movie. On the one hand, it's the messiest, most confused, nastiest, goriest, most disgusting flick in the franchise. On the other hand, I love the ragtag bunch of mercenary misfits which constituted the crew of the Betty. I'd love to watcha Firefly-type TV series about them any day.
I remember seeing this one in theaters and just being put off by the amount of gore in it compared to even Alien 3 which was pretty gory too but nowhere near as much as this one was. I also liked the mercenaries too and frankly they were the most interesting part of this mess of a movie.
This movie ist a guilty pleasure for me. It's Trashy but when i find it zapping TV, iam watching it till the end.
It's my favourite Alien movie 😅 The first one I saw and I was very young. I can see why it get shit but I love it for all the reasons you mentioned
That's French film-makers for you.
I def agree….the story sucked but the characters were actually cool
I do like this movie. One of the issues is that the movie kinda doesnt explain that the Aliens do have a psychic link that they use to communicate between themselves. Thats why Ripley says "i can feel it, behind my eyes". She is refeering to psychic link that makes her feel the queen. Plus both Ripley and Queen have shared mix memories.
The novel is more explicit. For example when the aliens attack the younger alien to escape. They had to asked permission to the queen, to do that. Or that Queen remembers how ripley was holding to one child when she was killing her eggs. Even the aliens are confuse about ripley. In one way they feel she is a part of them, but at same time she is not. Ripley is even worst... She is not the hero we know, she is more and antagonist... she really doesnt care about anyone...
Johner is another piece that we do not now why he is such a jackass to Vriess! Or why Christie and Vriess are so close. In the novel Christie death is such sad moment.
Oh yes, I remember the novel! It was Josh Whedon's script with no changes, sad they didn't add those character developments in the final movie. That, and the alien queen attack in the spaceship's garden park, it resembled like Jurassic Park, would have loved to see that scene.
This is interesting! I've never known there's the novel. I'm gonna search for more information.
p.s. I like this movie too. It's my first impression of Alien Franchise when I was a little kid.
"The novel is more explicit. For example when the aliens attack the younger alien to escape. They had to asked permission to the queen, to do that. " in the novel, can the Xenos spit acid, the way they spat acid at Christie? Cos if they can spit such strong acid, why didn't they spit on the floor or the glass to melt it, rather than going straight to killing one of their own? Nice twist and sure got the audience excited for a minute, but didn't make sense.
@@jimbobeire The swimming aliens have a different design than the others, they must have hatched from something non-human. Normal human born aliens can't spit acid,
1. They took blood samples from Ripley when she was being treated in the last movie, that was used to clone her. 2. Stonewall Jackson ate lemons.
The reason for the newborn is because the cloned alien queen was mixed with Ripley's DNA in the cloning process (just as Ripley was mixed with alien DNA). That human DNA caused the alien queen to suddenly develop a human-like uterus and the half-breed creature inside it. I do think the movie should have done a better job of explaining that.
I’ve never understood this movie so much before reading this comment section. No matter how many times I’ve watched the movie
What takes the average viewer a couple of times of watching to work out, your wife gets within one sitting. One hell of a smart lady you got there. Just found your channel today and I'm addicted. I have watched youtube for years now and I can tell she is an upcoming star. Keep up the good work.
This world feels more like the 5th element world.
Which is quite fitting because 200 years have passed since last movie. Alien takes place in 2122, Aliens & Alien 3 in 2179, The Fifth Element in 2263, Alien Resurrection in 2379.
"I just called it...right now." I appreciate the uncharacteristic honesty not usually found in a reactor. Best. Leo.
"The only poor decision Shaw made was in saving David" SMH, and that was _the_ most monumental mistake which would wind up costing the lives of how many?? Shit, David is responsible for more deaths than malaria. lol
"This is further than just weird. Weird weirdness. I don't even know how to explain it".
Three words: Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
Please tell me you haven't seen 'The Thing'. If not, then it's a must-watch.
“That guy is so weird”
That’s my boy Chucky! Also Wormtongue!!! 🙌🏼
Wasn't he Grima in Lord of the Rings as well?
He was also Billy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".
@@ramiabdo5953 Yes, he's Gríma Wormtongue.
He was also great in Deadwood, and Bad Lieutenant. Even in small roles, he's memorable.
Original Planet of the Apes! From the 60s and 70s!
Also Predator. And maybe do the avps
Predator is coming soon!
those are all awful movies

She IS an android!
I prefer the term "Artificial Person"
Exploding a grenade under water would burst your eardrums
I Iove 3 and Resurrection.Realy,I love all Aliens stuff.
I really enjoyed this movie because it's a lot of fun if you don't take it too seriously. With that horrifying clone lab scene and the horrifying underwater chase, I had a lot of fun watching it for being the crazy, lunatic, over-the-top Alien movie it was! And I do like the idea of exploring the DNA aspect of the aliens and mixing them with humans. Yes, it's deliberately a bit campy.
This is my favorite version of Ripley, dangerous and not entirely a good guy. Also it has Winona Ryder, Ron Perlman, Brad Dourif and Dan Hedaya ("Cheers", "Clueless").
This is a very unpopular opinion, but I love this movie out of all of them. But it's mostly for Call and Ripley's relationship.
You pronounced it perfectly. The director is famous. He did "City of Lost Children, Amelie and Delicatesent"
The director knew he was hired for his stylized look and he just filmed it like they wrote it.
My story came to an end in Alien3, I have no idea who this imposter of me is.
You had a different version of alien 3 than I had, in my version the chestburster comes out as shes falling and tries to escape, only for her to grab it and hold onto it as she falls. Also that bug splatter in the opening scene where its tossed into the window is foreshadowing
Same version I've seen as well. I've been confused seeing a few reactions to Alien 3 so far, where all of them just showed Ripley falling into the whatever and disappearing. Was starting to think my memory was false, so thank you for verifying that there really is a version, where it bursts out as she's falling 😄
This film has very French sensibilities.
I can't believe the director directed my favorite french film. "Amelie."
What is French sensibilities, never heard that one before
He also directed Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children together with Marc Caro, who was design supervisor on this one. Caro was not involved in Amélie.
Usually an appreciation for the unexpected and bizarre. Don't really need to be french for that of course. David Lynch for example sure nails it anyway. But those are fairly common themes in most french pop culture, even farther back than that Moon movie. And comics in particular of course. Speaking of the Moon, not even the mostly non-nonsensical and straight Tintin could resist going "a bit out there" on quite a few occasions. ;)
Yes! I can't believe you convinced her to watch this one lmao! Although when it comes to Alien Resurrection I think the theatrical cut is better than the extended
I don’t quite remember what the difference was between both versions but I remember the theatrical cut and orignal release of alien.
If I can recall one of the differences of Alien at least was the nest scene, but that’s all I can recall being an extra in alien.
@@acfan8253 The theatrical cut is pretty good. Like you said, the theatrical intro is much more fitting to the movie.
0:56 As a french i can say you nailed it. You're one of the few who do not butcher his name.
This movie is not a masterpiece but Prometeus and Convenant were just plain bad.
I actually despise this film and won't class it with the first 3 films. its pretty much an insult to the franchise.
10:54 Funny enough I have a friend that was way hairier then him you'd would think he was turning into a werewolf. Wonder if he finally shaved.
Disgusted by it's mother, but totally into it's grandma. 😂☠️
I thought this movie was weird but the visuals were amazing. the water scene and nest parts look amazing.
They cloned ripley by her blood which the charles dance had took that was in the hospital in philes.
Aliens is the best, but you can't have aliens without alien, which is second best, followed by 3. Resurrection is a bit of fun, but should not be connected to the legacy of the originals. The rest are extra curricular only.
I don't think you can say its nostalgia, alien and aliens are just vastly superior movies to prom and covenant.... the writing, characters, story etc are all so much better. nothing to do with nostalgia. ☺️
Really enjoying your channel. I agree, Leland Orser is a very underrated actor! Also got to give it to my guy, you have some amazing poker faces when she asks you questions about these movies!
I really enjoyed this one, my second fave after Aliens 2 .
I love this one. Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a brilliant director. I think Delicatessen is one of the greatest films out there. For me the alien franchise goes 1,4,2,3.
i must be the only person who actually liked this one but absolutely hated prometheus and covenant...
IIRC the basketball scene with Sigourney...she nailed that behind the head shot on the first take.
this is a lie
@@autismofinn3144 Someone should probably tell Ron Perlman then. ua-cam.com/video/HmZBghY_5UE/v-deo.html
Not on the first take dude, get your facts right
@@beanbag9696 You should probably refer to the video I posted above where the actor Ron Perlman...who was there...gives an eye witness accounting of how it went down. And given that I'm fairly decent at English...it sounds like it was indeed first take.
Now did she practice it off set? Certainly. Which Ron also mentions she NEVER landed the shot in. And that he subsequently lost his shit and they had to edit around it because...as he says...FIRST TAKE...she nailed the shot. That is...the first time it ACTUALLY mattered to make the shot.
I'm going to take Ron Perlmans accounting over some rando on UA-cam.
@@OneKillQuota behind the scenes also show "take 4" and the dudes behind the camera also says "take four" when she nailed it, easily found googling it. And took countless tries practicing. Ron Perlman was bullshitting. But my english ain't too good so not sure if take four means something else if you are proper fluent
I think this movie is better than the first, Prometheus, covenant and 3. 2 is best for me and then it's this
For me, the Prometheus movies are a failure because of the writing. The visuals are amazing. Turns out the mysterious Space Jockey was actually Space Jesus, and the alien in the franchise called Alien? It's not even an Alien! It is our grandchildren! 🤪 Too many stupid characters too.
I enjoy the start of this movie but the abomination....why? Who asked for that?
Alien & Aliens are classics. The best.
Alien 3 is stylish and has its moments but it killed off everyone I cared about.
Part of me feels like Ripley should have kept the alien child. we don't know it's temperament. the human it killed was someone that was clearly emotionally upsetting Ripley, talking about beautiful butterfly's. he may have been perfectly nice to humans who didn't emotionally upset Ripley :D
P.S. Ripley was cloned because in Alien 3 the doctor took blood samples of her that was frozen in the medical scenes of that movie.. And it was mixed with the alien queen's DNA. So in this movie both Ripley and the aliens got traces of their DNA mixed with each other. That's why it caused some very weird effects with both the Ripley-8 clone and the aliens.
The comment about 8 or Ripley was very perceptive.
18:30 "This movie makes no sense". immediately followed by one glaring example of it making no sense.
If these Xenos can _spit_ acid, then they didn't need to turn on each other to make one bleed in order to escape containment. They could have just spat on the window.
Seemed to be a far weaker blend though. Some much needed self defence spray for this poor endangered species. ;) The guy got a pretty massive facial and it only scarred him. While the tiny drip on the other guys ear appeared more corrosive.
It is also questionable if they are all the same anyway. Like where did the eggs around the shaft even come from? Some experiment must have gone wrong on that ship long before the events of the film shown.
I watched it in the movie theatre, having lots of anxiety that day it nearly scared (or rather disgusted) the shit out of me. I like the movie though, weird and all.
Make sure you Subscribe to the channel! We're pushing for 1000 subs so we can set up polls to have you help us pick what franchise we dive into next!
They are making an Alien streaming TV series.
I hated Alien 3 but I love Resurrection. It definitely adds to the story and finally shows what the Weyland/Yutani would have done with the Alien.
Ron Perlman can beat anyone in a staring contest
" Hellboy "arrives to the auriga ship 😈
It's not the greatest film but it's an enjoyable action film to spend a couple hours watching. For me the backstory that is revealed in Alien vs Predator makes more sense and is far better than the weird black goo nonsense of the Prometheus films. I always loved the fossilized giant pilot from the first Alien but preferred to leave his species as just some unknown victims of the xenomorphs. The larger predators from the movie Predators was fascinating and I would like to see more of them and of Sanaa Lathans character. As a human who passed the ritual to become a Hunter and got her face tattoo and spear it would be great to see her again, possibly fighting alongside the original predators to rid the earth or some colony whatever of those large more savage brutes. Even an older Sigourney Weaver could reappear as an ancestor of Ellen Ripley. But for me any film focusing on David or the Engineers and black goo is a waste of time.
I really hope the Hellboy movies with Ron Perlman is on the list.
I saw this in the theatre as a teenager. I was so excited to see an Alien film on the big screen, being a huge fan!.....that feeling didn't last long as the film progressed....
Prometheus and covenant I bought them on dvd because I also have the alien series with ripley in it, but I trowed prometheus and covenant in the garbage man they really were bad movies. Didn’t like them at all.
Prometheus was very meh, Covenant was awful, Resurrection was OK. Aliens is amazing and Alien was very good, Alien 3 was a drag.
I don't like Prometheus and Covenant quite as much as Alien 3 (let alone Alien and Aliens), but they're still better than Resurrection or (especially) the AVP movies.
Alien 👾 3 is my favorite because of the beginning & the story, and all of the black people! ‘Black Lives Matters’ !!!
If you haven't seen The Exorcist, you should watch it.
"The Betty," a sorta pirate ship that has as loopy a crew as the "Bebop" or "Serenity.";) So, you want to watch more scary movies? How about "A Quiet Place" and/or "Train To Busan"? The first one: "Keep Quiet if you want to live!" The second one: "Get ready for a roller coaster ride of emotions more intense than you've ever experienced!"
He's so hairy. It's Nick Tortelli!
I like this one. 👍 Skull baby is terrifying! 💀
I liked Prometheus well enough, because I seen it as the beginning of it all, but Covenant, well it pretty much was Blasphemy to the franchise, I saw it as Mr. Scott trying to cram Blade Runner into an Alien film. Alien 3 would have been good if they just wouldn't have killed Newt and Hicks right away, that I think, is what doomed that movie more than anything. My favorite is Aliens, because I was both old, and young enough for it to scare the hell out of me for a long time.
This movie was so much fun...not a bad film after Alien 3 nearly killed the franchise, I still can't stand Covenant..it killed the momentum Prometheus created. Alien killed off Hick and Newt..Covenant killed off Shaw...just two epic mistakes.
Call wanted to save that one guy but not Ripley because she sees him as human and Ripley as non-human. She's programmed to care about humans.
I'd love to see what you guys think of Delicatessen. It's a great movie.
Chalking up Alien and Aliens' fame up to nostalgia is a bit disingenuous. They are simply on another level compared to what followed them. Better and more coherent writing, storytelling, decision-making, cinematography, etc etc so on and so forth. Covenant is like what you would come to expect from a generic slasher film.
Yet again the film makers take something from the written fiction and screw it up - this should have been the intro to the story of Earth War.
you can 100% tell this was directed by a Frenchman. overly art housy and weirdly sexual
She didnt laugh at the Spyder getting shot at point blank range gag . Brought the whole theatre to laughter back in the 90s .
So glad you guys reviewed this film. It was definitely a fan film for cash in and it didn't bother me a bit. Glad to see the wife continue with these films. I can ACTUALLY tell that she is getting a little more emersed into the story and a lot less scared. I think that's awesome too! Great job as always gang. Looking forward to the next watch on the list. 😀
A lot of maternal stuff is gross.

Brad Dourif plays the scientist who got pulled by the face. He is the same actor who later played Grima Wormtongue in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. He is good at playing eccentric characters.
Brad Dourif is very underrated! Most of his career has been playing eccentric characters although he did seem to play a normal person in Rob Zombie's Halloween.
This is the "special edition" cut of the film, which is not Jeunet's director's cut, which was the theatrical cut. The special edition version has a completely different opening credit sequence (with unfinished VFX), as well as a couple of useless extensions of existing scenes and an alternate ending. Jeunet's cut is far more superior and less quirky.

This movie was definitely a stretch. I consider this worse than three honestly.
Also I'm sorry but this one has Alien Resurrection as her favourite 😆
trivia about this film - this was the 954th film made in holywood involving an alien monster
Funnily enough, this was my first Alien movie. It shocked me and I immediately went back to watch all the other movies.
Wtf was that opening 😶 I've never seen that big squishing
Before the mess of Covenant, the artificial persons in the Aliens films were in alphabetical order: Ash, Bishop, Call, David.
Chronologically David makes no sense either. Seem kind of unplausible there were no major version revisions for 200 years though.
I get the Winona designers must have taken their time, but still... :)
THANK YOU!!!
I feel there may be a 'few' people distracted by wanting what they want from an 'Alien' movie and not getting it that they just may not notice what is probably a brilliant performance by Sigourney Weaver. Please don't come at me.
THIS. I loved how she handles getting into a bit of the aliens' mentality herself in this film.
@@Geth-Who That scene under the water when she stops, turns around, and just watches the xeno capture a human... her expression, or rather NON-expression, just staring, I thought was just phenomenal. It just made me think 'wait, is she? is she FOR the alien? is she rooting 'one of her own'? or is she just...? I don't know...?' and it was exciting and sad for Ripley's journey. I know I've never seen a De Niro or a Brando give such a performance... ish.
It's a Guilty Pleasure! LOL
When I watched this for the first time, an odd thing I noticed was that when the weapons were being fired, their muzzle flashes were much larger, giving me the impression that the bullets were actually miniature rockets. This was before I'd ever heard of Warhammer or Bolters or anything.
For those who are unfamiliar with the idea of Bolters or Boltguns, a Bolter is a large firearm that fires a .75-calibre, two-stage, rocket-propelled explosive bullet with an impact-delay fuse and a tungsten penetrator, so it penetrates through layers of armour and embeds itself within a target's body before detonating. Very nasty...
I liked that movie...it was the first one I saw in Cinemas...
Great reaction to a terrible movie! By far the worst in the series.
I would totally be the dude shooting the little spider.
