Out of the 100 or so bottles of whiskey I've ever owned, Stagg Jr batch 12 is the most expensive at $70 (value drinker here). I feel pretty amazing right now. Loved this blind!
Batch 12 was by far the best stagg jr I’ve had personally (destroyed 15). Enjoyed it for my bachelor party in Nov 19 and woke up with 1 pour left the next day.
Did a batch 12 13 14 15 blind Saturday with a friend...his fav is 12 mine is 13...he picked 12-15-13-14 and predictably I picked 13-15-12-14....then after your cast i did the 12 vs 2020 gts and the 12 won....crazy people are paying 700 for that without blinking....hilarious to see you pick the batch 12 over all😂😂😂
This turned out like I had hoped. It's also why I don't feel guilty picking up Stagg Jr. batch 14+15 for $130. Especially when you CAN (have 2x) get it for $60. It's amazing!
I remember when Stagg Jr. came out and it was literally sitting on shelves for months. Then overnight never saw one again. Bourbon secondary is so crappy.
That cat is a mess. I appreciate y'all helping me build my collection over the last year. I'm at 160 bottles now, with no end in sight. Dan tends to have the same pallet as me, so I buy according to his choices. I still respect Sean though.
Great review. Crazy question, would you still have this bottle around, or another stag jr bottle that you can read me the lot code. I just wanna compare batches to the one I have. cheers.
6:10 That moment when you just feel so dirty you need to clean off. Good thing you have a 😺 kat 😺 to save the video. Epic save, what a STAR!! 😺 PS your "kat sounds" didn't even get an eyebrow to raise in a household of 3 kats. Might fool humanz, but not felinez.
How does Stagg and Stagg Jr. compare to Eagle Rare 10. I've never had Stagg before, but I keep looking for it and I find Eagle Rare to be a great pour.
Still waiting on that Battle of the Barrel Proof Bourbons video with a blind comparison of Elijah Craig B520, Elijah Craig C920, Stagg Jr Batch 14, and Stagg Jr Batch 15.
@@BourbonJunkies In your review of C920 you talk about end-of-the-year blinds quite a bit and the possibility of comparing this to 2020 Stagg Jr batches.
I always wanted one as well and just the other day walked into a random Liquor store and there was one on the shelf for $69. I thought I was on a hidden camera show that watched people’s reaction seeing a bottle like this...i literally looked around for a few minutes waiting for someone to come out and laugh at me. But it was legit and I scored my first Stagg Jr!
Have you guys thought about doing C,A,D,B or B,D,A,C on the second time through so that you're tasting them in a completely different order and not tasting the same ones back to back?
I have not been interested in paying the ridiculous 2ndary prices for GTS since i tried the 2015, found it hot, flat, and dry and underwhelming. Knew then that the reputation was going to continue, but the quality was going to be slipping, at least compared to earlier releases that ive been drinking and what i expect for the big$ needed to acquire. A major issue I have with your taste through: you tasted them all neat, and without any significant air time. Air time doesn’t do much for Jr, but depending on year, definitely 5-20 min air help GTS. Also, All the staggs benefit from a drop of water, which you did not add or consider in your ranking. The usually intense or bitter notes can be tamed to more sweet notes if the right amt of water is. Used to open up the whiskey, as you surely know. Other issue: i feel like based on your comments while tasting, C was the bottom of bunch, so your final ranking surprised, seeming contrived (rigged! 😜). (IMHO) Summary, ya got the answer the vast majority of your viewers were rooting for. No surprise there.
So we spent over 30 mins there while filming this, they all had ample air time. Then I can assure you we didn't fudge the results in any way shape or form to make the Jr win. I wouldn't care if after all our complaining the 19 wasn't great that it won, no reason to force any results for us.
@@BourbonJunkies perhaps i was just in a cranky, particularly skeptical mood this AM. Not upset at the outcome, really. Well I mean this is a follow up to our cheap war, under 25, we did a few weeks back
What is depressing is that I can't get any of these anywhere...smh
Great run guys, thanks for doing the hard work for all of us that can get our hands in BTAC.
I do like that idea at the end about putting Dickel in Stagg bottle to mess with people when they come over.
Never had a GTS but was just gifted a stagg jr. Batch 12. I don't know why I feel like I just won something...
Solid gift right there

kitty wants delicious whiskey also how did Dan get 2017 GTS in the results? lol
Right? Dan had 17, 18, 20 while Sean had 18, 19, 20.
